Migration Day
The day has arrived, and how many folks truly know about it - remains a mystery. I was reviewing the notice about the move, only 34% of the folks opened the email, granted that’s a little skewed as of course the tracking relies on a image being loaded that’s embedded into the email, so if they are in text mode or have images disabled, I’ll never know - but tonight is the night, staring at 11PM (GMT-8).
Moves have become pretty common place to me, so I know a few things to look for, but tonight before the move I do need to do some final spring-cleaning of the servers, as I know some sites are still online which are no longer hosted with me, so why move over data that is essentially a waste of resources, but with that I’ll make a backup of all DNS settings, as I know custom records I have added won’t survive the move (or haven’t in past migrations) - but overall things should go over pretty smoothly.
So for now, I figure I have about 5 hours before I have to get to work on final clean-up and rounds, but I took most of yesterday off, of course a big chunk was done reading up on ASSP and various cPanel implementations - some promising stuff, some mixed reviews - but as SpamAssassian doesn’t seem to be cutting it much anymore, it’s a possible alternative and stop-gap measure while I look for a more robust solution to proxy mail thru, MailCleaner is nice, but even it’s effectiveness has been less than stellar.
Anywhoo - back to loafing, I have an alarm set for 8pm, so if I crash out Awaken will start playing me some iTunes love. Prayers are appreciated, I am hoping and praying for a smooth move with no issues, monitoring looks good, average ping time is HALF of what it is now from all monitoring sources both service based and “Hey can you ping this” based
so I am just excited about the move, the improved performance, and new avenues this helps to open in the budget and possibility of an Apartment in the next few months - there are other things to write about, but more later, for now I need breaklunch. Good Friday to All.
