So I settled I believe on the ReadyNAS – few functions which I think are a better fit for me, but going to make it on the list towards the later half of Summer – the reason for the delay? MacBook Pro Upgrade. About 3 years ago I upgraded from the iBook to the MacBook Pro, a great system which even today serves me well, but will most likely as always make the move to a family member as it still works great (minus the dwindling battery which is replaceable) – I have been looking at the new MBP’s as a option for a while now, but today really wiped away most of the “wait” I was feeling, mainly price. The price dropped and specs got a update.
So looking forward to maybe in a week or so snagging one locally – BestBuy wasn’t sure when they would get them, but the primary Apple Stores said they should get them in Tomorrow, and by Thursday have display models up and running – but I am walking forward cautiously as with all new releases from Apple, you get that bit of wait to see what minor blips come up, from driver adjustments for trackpads, firmware for Wifi, etc. etc. – granted I am not too afraid of being a early adopter, just if I am going to make this jump, and utilize a system for work with Graphics, Web, Publishing, etc. I need to have something rock solid, but a week or so and most problems that’ll be found I imagine will be minor (I hope).
There is more information to this purchase too – I will probably tell about it more later, but I am getting a great deal on the laptop, so I am pretty happy, and there are a lot of things I could say about the level excitement about getting a upgrade on the laptop, but getting it, plus a cheaper than the already cheap Snow Leopard upgrade – not too shabby at all.
On another front, I am going to be most likely ditching Cable TV finally, my sister and brother-in-law recent did just that, for me it’s going to be a savings of at least $120 – the “TURBO” internet will remain, but most of the shows I watch are easily on Hulu, Broadcaster Websites, Amazon – plus the ever-useful Roku, it will of course be an adjustment as some shows don’t show up on Hulu the same time as the broadcast, so I may not get to join the average watercooler discussions btu none the less I’ll be $120 ahead
Anywhoo – thats the bits I have on my mind here at 230am-ish – sleep is still upside-down as always, but such seems to be my usual
for now though I am going to wrap it up and reboot with a slew of iMac updates needing to update, and being bored with the iPhone part of the WWDC Video now online – so happy Tuesday to you all, more later this week I’m sure!
