People are stupid…
I haven’t been all too vocal about the hurricane, or flooding of new orleans, but I read half an article today, which turned into a political run down of Bush’s presidency - it was just plain stupid. People are out of their homes, water is covering an area that one person said the area would become “like the city of Atlantis”, gangs, hunger, sickness, you name it, the area probably has it - but instead of an update on how people are doing, instead of a run down of supplies people should send in - they went into a flurry of Why Bush is a Loser - you may not like Bush, thats fine, but now is not the time to sit here and slander him, or praise him for his presidency, its time to be more concerned about men women and children in the New Orleans Region.
Politics can be done any other day of the year, week, etc. right now senators should be urging their states to donate, lend aid, get involved, and some are, but to see this article listing the 101 ways Bush has failed us as president? Just plain silly - but I have seen this going on elsewhere in response to the disaster.
I like what Harry Connick Jr. had to say in his mini-report on the concert - the region is used to floods, the people are used to preparing, the people know rebuilding is part of the process - but in this case it was something no one expected to happen, the levy’s went out. - could Bush of toured the area sooner? Sure. Could people around the country mobilized faster? Sure. Can we go back and change that now? No.
In my local area a entire family packed up, and headed to the region, preparing to distrbute supplies, their time, and share a message of hope. Locally here we have had food drives, I think there are 3 going on today for clothes and food - a lady concerned about the welfare of her family in the region was packing her car full of water and driving all the way there - prepared to give people a drink if needed - and none of thee people have said “Damn Bush!” they are doing what everyone should be doing, offering their time, talents, and treasures to the cause of getting these people even a 1/4 of the way back to normal.
What a world we live in, to all people who want to use this time to rail on Bush, shut yer yap, open your wallet, donate $5 every time you want to - the deal is once New Orleans residents are safe, secure, and back to a semi-normal life, you can stop donating the $5 and go back to yapping off about how horrible a man/president/father/cousin/uncle/farmer/lover/(insert yours here) he is - until then and even after New Orleans, and surrounding regions affected (sorry can’t name em all) your in my prayers.
