Today needed to clear my head a bit - so I took a drive down through Heart Park (I think it’s actually spelled Hart Park) but it was a nice drive, pretty much looped through Downtown Bakersfield where it was unusually crowded (even for a Saturday Night). But more pictures in the group 16 to choose from.
Working on a project tonight, not work related (for once - and not just staring at the wall, as I find myself doing alot lately) - but working on something which I hope to have pictures of in a few hours, I don’t really want to take “Before” shots, as well, it is scary! But going to get back to it, I have the iPod playing through the mixer - but hopefully I should have shots in under 6 hours, because I do have a few tasks to do this fine Thursday.
But do keep me in prayer, kind of waiting on the new server company a little, one of the server admins is actually helping me with the move in his personal time, so very thankful of that, just waiting to hear back on his schedule, hopefully its under a month from Today! But if all goes as planned, hopefully with taxes done, and the move completed, I’ll be on the road on my trip by Mid-April - get out there, see some sights, send some post cards (maybe make a few) - excited, tired, lazy, and lonely all at the same time tonight, but must get back to the project at hand. Night folks.
So far quite a week - waiting on a lot of emails back from clients, companies, and trying to keep a few servers from going entirely postal - and I say postal as one server’s reason for overload and keeping an average of 10 was exactly that, mail
But I am hopeful this week will all end up good, today when I get up, have some calls to make, some server work I want to look into, and a few sites to clear from servers (cancelations, violations, etc.) but that’ll actually make the move a tad easier from one standpoint.
Anywhoo - on the iBook sitting in bed, so I should wrap it up, turn this thing off and goto bed.. but the last thing I must do is link this. Enjoy
Night Folks!
Well today my brother and I got a nice suprise (and by nice, I mean rude awakening!) - power at our building went out, which led to tonight’s purchase, APC power backup units for each box (smaller units, not the classic ones I had with K-Man) - but for now it should more than hold us over - but the T1 status gets updated tomorrow, or rather “T1’s” as we are getting 3 bonded T1’s so 4.5mbps connection speed - which will be nice to have, and a lot more stable than SDSL 2.3mpbs line we have now, the Cisco will probably like it more
But things are doing alright, still got a lot on my mind, and my plate, tad more collected tonight, tired, but I bought new pillows so my head should be comfy tonight, hopefully the power stays on @ the office, if not I’ll be up around 4am again, so I am going to crash here shortly so if I must get up at the crack of dawn, I’ll at least be semi-rested. So night all!
Well tonight’s walk got me thinking more about my road trip, getting things server wise setup, normal day-to-day things, and a few minor emergencies here and there, I have been a tad busy - but the Road Trip 2006 came up during the walk with Rosie, and I am really psyched about it, a lot of time on the road to think about stuff, big questions still on my heart and mind, some choices I need to make, but on top of everything else, for once, real, un-interrupted (unless I choose otherwise) vacation.
Vacation has not happened for me in a real sense, since Jr. High? Maybe some in highschool, but vacation anymore usually entails a week of hiding out here in bako, just trying not to let clients find me
granted I’ll still be on-call to answer emails, setup accounts, etc. I can’t ever 100% get away, but most of the stress of “Is that server online!? Eh?! Wha?! Ugh” will be gone, no more massive weekly security upgrades, audits, backup management, etc. Smooth, simple, easy, the kind of stuff you can work on from a hotel room after a day of traveling, and taking pictures - one such photo suggestion was “Beard Growth” - still haven’t decided GPS or nice beard triming kit
But I do want this to be as mild on gadgets and tech as possible, but yet, I somehow doubt it will be
Already priced a fair reviewed GPS system that’d hookup to my laptop, talks and everything - so I can find hotels at night, and possibly even help in finding my grandparent’s place
but it all is exciting!
Part of me though has a reason for wanting to stay, but it is part of what I want to think, pray, and focus on in my journey, it may cause me to come back early, but its one of those could change my life things I talked about, in my blog eons ago, I have though recently come to the reality that I am, indeed, without a doubt, a coward
LoL - I have let fear of things control my life, my actions, and gear some of my choices - and while I can’t change that mentality overnight, I can continue to strive away from it - and actually have the good things in life which are waiting for me to get off my butt and take em into my life.
Oi… rambling like crazy tonight, just so much on my mind, so many things to get done, taxes, servers, new clients, projects, changing projects, etc. but back to the topic at hand before I chase another rabbit and you are here for another week or two, the plan is hit:
- Grover Beach (visit my bro) - 5min up the road and visit my cousin (she made me promise I would) - then slowly make my way up california, stopping at..
- Mt. Shasta (should be some fun pics. like the GPS, wish I had a few more lenses for the camera), slowly travel through..
- Oregon, taking random shots of the outdoors, probably only stay in state 1 day, unless I find something REALLY good to stay for (waffles maybe?) - then up through…
- Washington to visit my Grandparents, and maybe stay a few days, first time I’ll of seen my grandparents on my own, should be intersting, plus my 2 uncles, assorted cousins live up there, so a nice mini-family reunion (beard would probably go away here) - but then depending on my energy, funds, and umph left in me, it’d be a journey through…
- Idaho (never been) then through…
- Nevada (maybe some gambling) seeing as I am now of age to do so, maybe I’ll win big and head east more
but then…
- Possibly through Arizona and visit Cory and his Wife, or the other method…
- drive through San Diego visit Aunt Karal, then slowly…
- make my way home to bako.
But all in all a big journey, by far the largest I have ever taken, thought of, etc. still have some tuneups to do on my car, so that’ll play into the trip some too finances wise, but one way or another I think I’ll have more than enough to make it from here to Washington and back, but part of me would love to come back with a couple thousand photos, and really put my flickr account to the test
I know there should of been a page break in there somewhere, but my brain isn’t that clever tonight - more in the thinking mood vs. logical mood, but I do tend to over-think, so maybe it’s time to wrap up for the night, big week ahead - continued prayers are appriciated - if anyone wants to donate to the road trip fund/supplies for the road - donations are appriciated (heck a nice car would be super appriciated, but I’ll settle for a couple bucks) - but its all good, and who knows after this whole thing is done, I may have a new perspective on life, some new joys in my life, and so much more - or I’ll need a new neon, and start working for Canadians! (but that wouldn’t be so bad)
Take Care All! Have a Good Night!
Doing a complete upgrade of all forum services on CMCentral.com - this update should take as little as 45m - but as much as 1 1/2 hours to fully update database and file structures.
My sister got me a book for Christmas, and I just finished reading it, granted it was in a bookshelf for a while, and I read half of it at one point, then just came back a few days ago and started reading it again - the catch to it, was very “opinionated” is how I’ll put it.
The book is Deadline
by Randy Alcorn - a decent book, good story line, very good visual depictions of heaven and hell (though Hell’s was brief) - but just great visual ques which really gave you a awesome view of what heaven could truly be, but also of friendship, family, finding faith, and a nice hint of action
all in all a good read, I have no complaints about the book other than large sections going on and on with facts about abortions, and various other real-life issues granted, but at times it felt overly preachy, like it felt I wouldn’t of known about the issues listed.
Anywhoo - worth a read, give it a look if you get a chance, as for me, I think I’ll try that whole sleep thing now.
