Eph. 5:2 (The Message)
Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.
When you can’t sleep (or at least me personally) you read - so tonight I re-read some of my bookmarked scriptures in the message, and one got me thinking (the one above) love is insanity, it truly is contrary to the most instinctive human nature “self” - this scripture rings in a song from Chris Rice called aptly “Love Like Crazy” the first verse goes:
I heard a rumor that love will make you crazy Well is it true? Well that’s no rumor, look at the crazy things that love made Jesus do The friends he chose were thought to be outrageous And you could even find him touching the contagious And the craziest is how he chose to save us He gave his life away Then he had to go and say “ Gotta love the same way that I love you!”
It’s a good song one day I’ll post it for all to enjoy but its nearly 4am, and ripping to MP3, then finding my MP3 flash app, it could be time consuming (and mildly illegal - okay okay, illegal in general) anywhoo - back on track, love is insanity by the worlds standards, I mean there are only a handful of folks I truly love outside my own family, I have a bunch of great friends, but some I’d literally do anything for, setting aside my own desires, meetings, etc. to do something for, drive across town to get glasses, whatever, upon first thought, its not me, it’s about them. I’ll admit the human nature seeps in now and again and wonders “What do I get in return?” but honestly in the end, getting to do something for someone is a great feeling in general, and heck, I’ve been saying I am crazy for years! One of these days you are all going to need to believe me.
Anywhoo - I am gonna hit the shower and try to sleep again, but thats just a scripture and song I had to share, may of done it before, but it just hit me again good tonight. God is Good. Night Folks.
So this pretty piece of mac hardware has been sitting here for a week now, and what I have noticed? I am not using my PC as much again, like when I got the iBook I switched email acconts from my PC -> Mac, granted Thunderbird is not Universal yet, so it’d run in Rosetta, but I just as easily converted FH email -> Mail.app.
I think with Mac one thing I know, is less distraction - in Windows you have things pulling your attention every-which-way, but in Mac, it tends to be you choose the point of focus - but don’t get me wrong, I still stand behind my view of every type of computer has it’s place - in the room now the Linux box is webserver/mt-daapd/ssh server - the Windows box/laptop are Vongo, Email, Games - and the Mac, is video, photography, and soon virtual photo processing center - digital negatives here I come!

One of my fav’s from this morning, took the Canon A510 along as I was too scared to lug the E-500, but it works, all shots I did in Manual mode, so settings were all done by human hands not a magical “auto” feature

I used the mighty power of Google Maps via a site called “Google Map Pedometer” - now granted, I didn’t walk, but none the less it measures distance in general for the purpose of figuring out calories burned (345 give or take as I did the 2.4m ride in an hour) - but it’s pretty nifty:
Pretty darn cool if I do say so myself, I thought it was less and I was in HORRIBLE shape, but 2 is a ways away from the longer rides I did as a kid, but who knows, maybe cool websites and gadgetry will help me get in shape

Well this morning at around 5, I still could not get back to sleep, so the crazy idea that then entered by brain was “What about a bike ride?!” well having never used my bike rack or bike since my birthday, I decided “Aw heck!” and attached the rack to my trunk, found a creative way to attach then the bike on the rack as mine has suspension which normal bikes done, thus mounting it up was mildly difficult.
But I made it to the lake with my bike still on my car, and found the main gates locked, so I drove up and around to the camp grounds, parked my car at the park just before it, unloaded my bike, stowed the rack in the trunk, aired up the tires a bit more, then set off - twas cold enough to see my breath, joys of enviromental cooling (aka the lake/river) twas nice, freezing, but nice. Made it around the lake, stopping to take pictures now and again and realize that I am once again horribly out of shape lol - but I got 24 shots in which are all uploading to flickr now.
So will I do that again? Maybe not in the mornings, I am considering dusk/evening since they have been nice lately, but time will tell, if this job does go through at the office, my time might be less for a while, then level out as all things come around, but I am also considering still the road trip, maybe not the lenght through Idaho/Nevada, but at the very least up to see Grandparents & Family there - so could be a good week long trip, who knows, as wild as I have been lately, I might just leave today! Muwhahahaha - or I’ll be smart and wait till I get the seals on the car replaced, some window washer fluid, oil change, sparks changed, etc. and actually not end up on spending a few thousand dollars on gas.
Anywhoo - must wander away again, and try to avoid the desire to pass out on my bed again.
One thing I notice anymore is folks like a free lunch, but then again, who doesnt? Software - namely “Freeware” or a lot of common “Open Source” apps are great, and in a week of using the iMac I have come to appriciate a lot of free apps - and made small donations - have you done the same?
Don’t get me wrong, they are not asking for anything, but these folks are traditionally workin folk, they have 9-5 jobs, families, bills, etc. and they provide the software for free - usually footing the bill for hosting, bandwidth, not to mention the countless hours devloping the software - and in the mac case, re-working their code to be Intel Mac compatible, so my hats are off to these workin stiffs who make great apps. If you have a few bucks to spare in your PayPal account, donate to your favorite Open Source or Freeware project, let the devlopers know they are doing a good job.
And that completes my 4am rant, good morning, and have a good memorial day!
Man what a crazy last few days, out to X3, tonight it was subway, mervyn’s for socks (lol), and then instead of bowling we ended up at the $1 theatre for Benchwarmers (funny, but stupid) - and of course the creation of CAVE RAVE! awww yeah!
Twas fun though, had hoped others would of called and joined us, but apparently me, jake and sarah are just too cool for everyone else
the curse of being us lol - but it was fun, good stuff. I of course had hoped the night would tire me out some more so I cold pass out and get back on a normal sleep schedule, but no such luck as it is now 3am, and I am still awake.
Trying to decide what to do with Sunday - at this rate I’ll be asleep by 4 most likely unless I suddenly get sleepy, then it’ll mean up no later than 10 if not 11, which rules out church - who knows! Craziness indeed - but this week a few tasks on the plate, finish up some cleaning around here - got rid of one more piece of computer goodness, iBook went to it’s new home today, next it’s relocating the linux server to the closet I think, just needs to be powered up and it works fine - then I think I may ditch LCD #2 to the rents, and take the CRT to the office as a desk monitor for test servers - who knows.
This kind of awake is the worst, I am wide awake, but my brain went to sleep about an hour ago, so most of what I have to say is rambles lol - maybe I need to put on a movie like when I was a kid, I wonder if I have star wars on DVD anywhere (movie of choice my parents used to make me zonk out) aw the strange things I remember, and apparently the amazing things I block out - like busting out my front teeth when I was like 2 - I remember events leading up to it, but I then don’t remember much after, and something about my leg, my brain chooses some great things to block out, just wish it wasn’t so selective
Okay - enough rambling, must go put head on pillow and hope for the best.
