So here’s my story - arrived, they looked at the Neon, I had hoped for $1,000 in a trade, however, they said “$500″ so I was bummed, but they ran my credit, asked what down payment I was doing and ran the numbers, it was still in the mid-range (figured $250 max, $170 low) they said “$209.45″ for a monthly payment on a 60 month finance with 6.9% (apparently I have decent/mid-range credit.) without my Neon, $199 with - so I took a walk, needed to think/pray/ponder - so I went across the street to visit Rosie at B&N she said “You need a cream soda” and gave me one on her so I sat, drank, thought.
To let them stew a bit more Rosie asked me to go with her to CompUSA (next to B&N) to look at her laptop she’s wanting to get, and so we did that, I thanked her, and went back - put my offer on the table, shave $10 off on the “No Trade” price, and I’d sign instantly, well they met me in the middle $5 so in final it was $204.34 - just felt right, felt good, and knowing I can get around $1000 if not more for the Neon, that’s like 2-3 payments right there - so I sat there staring at the paper, praying, and thinking.
I signed.
So after 1 final add-on during financing (Anti-Theft System (my first car alarm!)) the final payments were $213 a month, for 60 months, which if I get the gym contract, and work finalized with my bro’s boss, then I can pay it off in under 6 months no issue - major savings when it comes to financing, but at the same time if things are slow, or unexpected things come up, still easy to squeeze out that much if needed.
I am oh-so-blessed, friends were calling, I was txt’ing, got taken out to eat 2 times (Thanks kMan and jMan!) - I am stuffed, excited, and happy.
Oh oh… but wait… there’s more.
The sales guy said “Yeah the MP3 part is the input, you can hook up your MP3 player like your iPod into the input and listen through the car system” - while not bad, I have been spoiled with my Neon’s $89 mp3 audio, 1 disc, lots of music, easy. Well I got home after a snack with Jake (I got tea and toast) I ran to my Neon, grabed the disc, ran back to the Cobalt, and slid the disc in - It’s a MP3 player. It started indexing the disc instantly. So awesome.
Did I mentioned I am blessed? This whole purchase, was simple, good sales/financing folks - very mellow, easy going, no pressure, very helpful to explain bits, clarify things, etc. no hassle, no fuss, quick and easy (well not really quick, but probably quicker than most) - so I have a new car - not a 2006, not a used hand me down, not a used auto, but new - 2007, Chevy Cobalt, good engine, good headlights, good sound, good good good. God is Good. Thank you to all who kept me lifted up in prayer, anxiety was mellow, family was nearby to support me as needed - even came picked up the Neon so I could drive my car off the lot - tomorrow morning I write one more check, Insurance. $822 from Progressive, going to hit up my current provider one more time and double check, but $822 for a year, about double what I paid on the neon, but the “full coverage” you need on a new car.
I am going to shut up now. I am so jazzed and falling asleep at the same time, pictures will be out tomorrow, going to take some shots when it’s light and I’ll post em here, but so cool, so awesome, so blessed. Night All!
Well as soon as I get my car cleaned up the last bits, I am making my way downtown, stopping at the gym to check in, and then the bank to deposit some money, and then downtown - I’ll have lunch with Adam - then at 4ish I head down to 3Way Chevorlet to have them appraise my car.
Excited, be awesome to have a new car, this one has treated me good, was a good learning car as I learned to drive stick in it, and its saved me from many accidents (good engine, good response, good power when needed) - and it’s had a good life - but depending on how the appraisal goes, and how well the finacing / payments monthly all setup, I may or may not be getting a car, I am not SET on getting anything, if it all works out, then PTL! If it doesn’t then PTL!
Prayers are appriciated, lots going down today, and I definately want this car only if it’s a God thing, lots of good things in the works, and I should be able to pay this car off quickly, so we shall see how it all rolls out, but do keep me lifted up in your prayers. Have a Good Day Folks!
Well been pricing everything out, making sure life is good, puppies are cute, and all that good stuff - so I called my current car insurance provider and gave em the specs on the car, told them the estimated milage and such, and total was $1,412 - about $1,000 a year more than I currently pay. Wowza.
So I hit the only rate quote places, and found Progressive offering me $822 a year, now that I can swallow, for coverage needed, its perfect - so since I missed the guy today, and I am going to probably pass out soon, tomorrow the sales guy is there from 3pm-9pm - perfect for me, so going to probably go tomorrow, and granting my credit doesn’t suck horribly (which I don’t think it does) I should be able to do it all, hand over a Neon (granting they give me a decent amount) and $4,000, and drive away in a new Chevy Colbalt 2007!
Anywhoo, brain is melty, so I am going to go check some email, then go lay down in the other room, what a day, offer is still open on both the xPad, and donations on the BCAC Foundation, so feel free to send in comments and or money
Well my brother is home safely to the USA again, currently on his way back to their house in Grover Beach - but got to pick em up, pick up the kiddo, and see them on their way. Sleepy now, sleep me, good night
Any mac users out there want a copy of xPad? A $12.95 value, tottally free to a good home - the recent Zot on MacZot gave me a second copy, and they are now allowing for me to give doubled up registrations as gifts, if you feel you are deserving, please explain why in the comments, and you may be the lucky winner (people who donate to The BCAC Foundation, increase their odds)
Not even one offer to donate to the BCAC Foundation? What is this world coming to!?
Well I went down and test drove 2 Cobalts today, nice little car, and the $14,140 car I found first off a awesome drive, unlike my Neon, it has sound proofing still, so you can’t hear the engine or for that matter - feel the engine, but it has the power I am looking for, maybe not all the cool bells and whistles other cars have (standard locks, standard windows, standard mirrors - no power anything) but - the cool thing is the car is on sale, $13,892!
So even better, so tonight I’m going over my finances again to be sure for sure I can handle this - couple months it’s been tight as things have been paid for and finances taken to the brink as I test new servers/services - but I think I can wing at the very least $4,000 down + Neon ($1000 I hope) so $5k down, then figure in Insurance, Tags, Tax, hopefully get payments around $200-$250 tops, but if this deal goes through this week, possibly a nice surge to the budget, and my goal to get FH online soon should stir up some more orders - SO - hopefully its all good.
Donations are still welcome, I’m not afraid to ask for help, but I know most folks are tight budget too right now, so no worries, tottally understand - but any and all love is appriciated. Anywhoo - long day, another long one tomorrow, take care all!
The BCAC (Buy Chuck a Car) Foundation was formed today to help buy me a car
Why do you need to help me buy a car? I think the real question you should be asking yourself is “Why don’t I just buy Chuck a Car?” or “Why haven’t I given Chuck all my money yet?!”.
In honesty though, hit the car shopping a little this morning, and found a nice on-lot configuration at the local Chevy dealer for $14,140 - has everything I want, including some things which will bring down the insurance a bit, but all in all, nice car - now I am going to try to sneak out around 1 or so and give it a test drive, see how I fit in it, as some cars are built for people with a smaller frame than me (I’m big boned - lol) but I like the written specs a lot, so hopefully it fits, drives, etc. like I hope.
But if anyone does want to send me money (Full $14,140 is welcome!) drop me a note - if not I guess I’ll have to do it the old fashioned way, hard work, long nights, might even have to sell myself out on the street corners, holding a sign that says - “Need IT?” of course that may get people looking for a different type of IT… maybe not a good idea. Anywhoo - I am going to go now, get my shoes on, and swing by the gym and check in, and then off to the office for a while, hopefully between now and then you’ll all of read my blog, and send billions of dollars
Have a good day folks!
