TGIF… and then some.

What a week. For the first time last night, I got sleep, twas odd, nice, and of course, now I want more.

Got a lot done this week, and taking off Wed. I have some to catch up on Saturday, but not a TON that can’t wait till Monday to work on again, but got a call this afternoon from the gym, apparently the folks who made their computers (not me) came in and well, for lack of a better word SCREWED everything up, they are trying to keep their foot hold in this town, and the gym has no plans to keep them, their hardware, etc. its just a bad situation.

So I got to go out and supervise a bit and find out what he was doing, guy was soooo know-it-all and kept trying to really put me in my place (as I am the guy replacing their company) - he kept explaining to me things like “WiFi Interferance” which we checked for when we setup wireless, and things like “Registry Editor” how its a very advanced tool, and I more or less then asked him why he removed all the hardware I had installed, that the gym had PAID me to do, and he said “Well it needed to be done” - it all still works, so it will be with the new workstations I am building, and on top of all that, I may get a service contract on the computers! So a monthly wage to keep things running smooth, and oh boy howdy, will I.

PLUS while there above and beyond getting that news of service contracts & PC building, I got a gig for starters doing some  photography! (Woohoo!) and possibly a wedding as well! I really need to do some in-doors shooting practice between now and April if I do indeed get it - but it’s two kids I enjoy Joe and Jennesse - didn’t even know they had got engaged! But she showed me the ring, and we discussed Save-The-Date cards, invites, etc. So for now, we have a photo shoot set for Sept. 1, and it should be fun, going to look around for some good outdoor locations other than my favorites (Ming/Heart Park) and see what purdy things we can come up with.

Anywhoo - I am going to go now and do some PC pricing, and see what I can come up with, what a day, what a week, what a life. More Later.

Moving, wait… Moving.. wait

Ah what a day, cleared my day to help Rosie move from her rent’s place to her friend’s house to the new room she’s renting, supposed to start at 9 but had some minor hangups, a final time was set: 12:30pm - so I headed over there, we got loaded up, I chased her down the freeways in my truck (as I had no idea where I was going) - and we made it there…. only to find that the road was being re-surfaced and for WHATEVER reason, it was against the rules to drive on it. Very odd/stupid/insert explicit lyric here.

So after a few carefully placed calls, I reached my sister who lives near by there now, and asked to use her garage to store the cars, well she was at work on the other side of town, Michael is back to school (teaching) and the only spare key was with Dad - sooo a call to dad and a deal was made, Route 44 Grape Slush from Sonic in exchange he’d drive the key over and meet us at Beth’s place. So we drove that way, and followed my dad there, parked the cars in and did the other things on the list for the day as the road wasn’t going to be “finished” till 6pm.

Needless to say, many details aside, we made it. Got her unpacked, a bed, met the boyfriend, met the roommate again (met her at B&N once before) and said my farewell, as it had been like 7-8 hours since we started, a fun day, but this boy was tired from the running around - but I then finished up the evening with the K-Man, enjoying a fine order of the Chili-Dog Diet - twas tasty, and helping him on some work stuff, then here I am now, fresh from the shower, and pondering sleep. Good day.

Needless to say, I hope the next move, if ever is me, lol. Possibly another post in a bit, just trying to decide if it’s a public thought, or a private thought… time shall tell. If not, then Night, if it is, see you soon :)

Waiting for 1.6GB of Video

Well I am waiting for my ReplayTV to finish copying to my PC, recorded in high quality, so I could burn this TV episode to disc/re-vamp some - friends have been wanting to see this - quality stuff… just needed a bigger TV.

In other news, I just got a telephone call after Rosies (cover that in a sec) from “Domain Registry” wanting to confirm information on a domain which is not mine, nor is currently registered - it goes no-where, its blank, open, you the reader could go buy it now, so the guy says the domain and I open a terminal on the ol iMac here, and whois it (gotta love CLI!) and its open, I tell the guy that, there is nothing to confirm, there is no information attached to the domain - and he keeps going off his script, its awesome, so I just start laughing, and he asks “Sir why are you laughing?” and I walk him through the process of domain ownership, and such I figure he is calling my business line, it costs me airtime, not money, so keep his money per minute line (aka 1-866 number) on line as long as I can, and he keeps assuring me I own the domain, and have to confirm my information - I finally said “WHO ARE YOU” and he said “Thank you for your time sir and being so polite.” and hung up lol.

Anywhoo - back to other news in the human race that has no script - got the call from Rosie that tomorrow is the big day for moving, so have truck will travel, one of these days its gonna be my move, hopefully I can get all these folks to help me move ;) but we start at 9am and load it all up and get it moved. Should be fun - nothing like a good move to get the blood flowin. So keep me in your prayers tomorrow, as well as Rosie & Her fam and all those moving her to her new diggs.
Anywhoo - gonna go check the PC see where the download is, get it over to the Mac and get some iMovie love going.

Back to School

Well today marks the start of most educational systems below College (college of course starting back up next week) - but that means a few of the teachers I know/related to are back to work tomorrow - so definately keep them in your prayers, I remember the first day back to Jr. High / Higschool - was usually long, but I hope it is survivable.

Also throw out some special prayers for Rosie’s sister, it’s her first day to highschool, freshman year is always a little crazy, but can be mildly fun I hear (I personally only had 1/3 of one) but hopefully she can meet some new friends - she is in the special ed system, and I know most of the staff that’s still at FHS for that, and they are good folks - or at least they were when I was still working there a few years back.

In other news, my sleep is still all jacked up - went to bed after a call from Rosie last night (as per her orders that I needed sleep) and low and behold, I woke up at 2am exactly - 4hrs of sleep, granted I woke up from a earlier nap when she called, but still, its all wacky at the moment, but I’m surviving, some - just a lot on my mind right now, rolling out updates across all FH servers, prepping some changes / specials / big newsletter / so a lot on my mind to say the least - and work is just one of them :)

Ron and Harmony and her parents, sister and Sarah H. are all still trek’n through Europe,  got the kid for a week last week, house is too quiet now, I don’t wake up to someone saying “can we do pictures on your computer again?” (she really likes the filters on Photobooth on the iMac - but it was a fun week, need to take back the dvd’s to blockbuster she rented, and eat 2 more bags of Life cereal :)

Picked up a friendly/fun project for this week, a old pal from College wants to spruce up her photography website some, so I am going to call in a few favors, and see what we can do to help spice it up a bit. We were in art classes together, and we both worked at JS at the time, so we got to hang out a bit - twas good times, maybe I can convince her to show me how to really use my E-500 when she comes to Bako to visit :)

Anywhoo - that’s the update on things me, probably do a post later if I am alive, but probably be a day or two as I am going to really focus on work stuff today if at tall possible. So have a good day folks, thanks for the prayers!

Went to bed at 8:30pm!

Well twas a good day yesterday, busy like mad, but good - had my ride with Rosie in the morning, and thus saw my first example of someone sleep riding :) after that I headed home watching the kid for a bit, then getting the emergency all caps notice that the QB server was down at the office (gonna check that here in a bit) - which isn’t uncommon, server has issues, but it took longer than usual to deal with.

Called Italy trying to catch my brother, no such luck, and that leaves me with a few support issues I am not entirely sure how to deal with - so trying to wait things out, but I love how folks automatically assume since I am a tech guy, everything is within my power to fix, but when you don’t know how the infrastructure is setup, can’t just sense it - but some things I can do tomorrow, somethings I can as far as that’s concerned.

Took a short nap, got woke up by Jake’s call - talked for like a minute, then climbed back into bed and passed out for another 45m and then headed to the shoot. Which was fun:

Awaken Shoot 2.5Awaken Shoot 2.5
Awaken Shoot 2.5Awaken Shoot 2.5

Had fun, even had Mrs. Foster & Mrs. Poon there - which is leading to the BBQ on Saturday for further hanging out, and maybe a shot or two :) but a fun afternoon, following that a few calls, watched Eureka on the Replay, and said goodnight to folks and passed out.

But I think that’s it for me, have to respond to a few emails, but other than that, I think its back to bed. Night Folks.

Never goto sleep early…

… if your me that is ;)

Well greetings from lovely 4am, been up since 2, but been working on some things, been a busy week, Saturday we got the kid (brother’s daughter) and she’s well, exhausting sometimes - but fun none the less, she has been hanging out with me and dad most of the day, then when mom gets done with work, she and grandma go crazy (shopping, movies, etc). So fun stuff.

Some not so fun stuff yesterday, don’t want to air too much dirty laundry as of yet, but let’s say it was a day where I had to put my foot down with someone, just tired of being nice, then having them push that nice to the next level and basically try to get me to do what I do to make a living for free, frustrating, and making it even worse, they huffed off after I did it like I was being mean by saying “No”. Sad stuff really, just find myself praying for this person, as I know they have had some rough times, but no excuse to exploit others - but its been said, done, and life goes on, finishing the last thing I agreed to do, and I am done for a while.

I am really excited about today, second shoot for Awaken! Dan is coming, possibly Courtney and Jake as well, plus Mrs.  Foster will be there to cheer me on :) LoL It’s fun stuff, even got a 2GB CF card ($36.50!) and it works good in the camera, so I am going to shoot ALL of tomorrow in RAW+SQ(1280×960-JPG) so I can do some more advanced editing with Lightroom (one of the few Mac/PC apps which understands E-500 RAW format) - so going to be nice to have some digital negatives this round, and do some more advanced clean-up of the colors/lighting/etc.

What else… Got a txt from Rosie around 3am wanting to go riding, and since I am still awake (which means I’ll probably need a nap before the shoot) I txt’d back okay - but that’s only 2 1/2 hours of sleep for her, have a funny feeling there will be a few “15 more minutes” calls :) but already have the backpack loaded, water in the feezer to chill a bit before leaving, and workout clothes set aside so as soon as I am out of the shower I can get dressed - but a ride strangely sounds nice right about now.

Anywhoo - more busy work this week, more to come next week, I have 30 cell phones at the office -  maybe I should sell em on the street corner :) but possibly another post in a day or so once things calm down, or who knows, maybe tomorrow after the shoot to show off my favs ;) So with that, I’ll say Top of the Mornin’n to ya! and be on my way to the shower.

Lunch, Ruby on Rails, Yaris?

Well today I had lunch with 2 buds, namely Adam and Scott, good gents, was nice to hang out, eat some food at our local haunt (Kosmos) and afterwards kind of give Scott the 411 on my exsistance since High School - a fun day, just had a odd start (woke up at 4:30am prayin for a friend) and a long day kinda feeling “eh” all day, but it was a blessed day in the end, a new client, 2 yesterday, and had some fun at 7 Steps Fitness working on their wireless (getting flooded with some obscure TCP traffic which I think is choking the router… still watching logs), and performed a small con, which was really kind of silly, but fun.

God is truly good. I am not a perfect person, by no means, if only people knew all my faults - I am just trying my best like everyone else out there - I may not be a good friend always, or a good son, or a good brother, but I do my best when I can, and hey, it all works out, God Blesses - I am truly blessed, even when I am down and out, he gives me some joy in my day to brighten up my day.
Which led to this evening, enjoying the Ruby book, constructs are so simple, the base framework that Ruby creates, wow - time saver, granted as the author notes, it is not always the complete task, but sometimes for a dirty backend it’s base code does the job, and it’s very true - a neat code system, and I read the section on using sessions - and the example app it’s walking through is exactly what my end result is, granted I have different ideas in mind already in this stage, but by the book’s end I am sure it’ll evolve.

Car shopping is offically on, I chatted with the local Toyota dealer about a Yaris, but apparently, he was only a office geek, and passed on my request for a Yaris Sedan with 5 Speed to the sales team and someone is going to email me - so I may be off to test drive a car here this next week, be nice to have some new wheels, and above everything else, a car I can take to the carwash, without getting dripped on lol (sunroof in the neon leaks).

But a busy, crazy, blessed day, but I do have a prayer request, and I know it’s ~11pm, and most folks are off doing stuff, but pray for Rosie. I’d give more details, but it’s a lot of personal stuff, just crazy, and then throw in a friend’s wedding she is going to tomorrow, and doing the mother of the bride’s hair, and such, so she’s got a lot on her plate, and a lot of things on her heart as well, but she could definately use any and all prayers you can throw up for her.

Thanks as always for reading/visiting to my ramblings. Night.
