Things for Sale

So here’s the list of things I have which will soon be up for sale:

HP+iPod 40GB (~$150)

Basically this is the Apple iPod, but it was this whole thing when HP decided to get into the iPod market, so it has a HP logo on the back, as well as comes with a STUFFBak Label for security, so if it gets lost, folks can recover it for a chance at a reward

Logitech Bluetooth Desktop (mouse+keyboard+bt adapter) (~$75)

This is fairly new, got it for the Windows desktop, however since I am getting rid of it, and only the mouse links up on the iMac, I am going to sell it, good performance, cool media features, and rechargable batteries on the mouse, AA on the keyboard, all uses Bluetooth.

HP LaserJet 1000 (~$50)

Still works great, but not Mac Compatible, so going to eventually replace, but for now my Epson will take it’s place, but a Laser Printer (probably something Network Ready) will take its place.

Tungsten T3 (~$50)

Still in working condition, mainly using it as a eBook reader lately, but slowly plan to phase out back to real books, unit is in fair condition - case has a dent, and the stylus dock is cracked, but unit works fine, battery is getting older, but still get about 1 hour of constant use, and 2 hours of casual use.

Samsung 753DF (SyncMaster) 17inch CRT Monitor (~$75)

Monitor has been stored for a bit, was recently unpacked and used when my LCD died, still works great, crisp, clean, and ready to go - seeing as it’s a CRT, may be good only for local delivery, but if your up for shipping, could be yours.

HP Laptop - AMD 64 3500+, 1GB Ram, 120GB Drive, 15.4 Widescreen (glossy) - (~$1,000)

Laptop is very nice, DVD Burner, Wifi, Card Reader, screen is crisp, and comes with ScreenSavrz from RadTech.us - has helped keep down the oil transference from the keyboard, as well as helped keep the screen clean from smudges - laptop is only a year old, works great.

So if all that were to sell, it’d be $1,400 if I got the listed asking prices, but I am open for some haggling - as soon as I am 100% ready to sell, I will get some photos, and get things documented on complete specs, and go from there - of course this means some folks will stop talking to me since I am getting rid of a Windows workstation, but sadly, thats how life goes. ;)

The Journey to Mac (update)

Well I did some pricing on Apple.com, I can get a MacBook Pro, and a iPod 30GB (iPod Video 5th Gen) for under $2k which ain’t bad - still a lot of money, but I think it’d be nice again to have a Apple laptop, bluetooth is native so net via Treo is easy, wifi built in, good video so I could do WoW if needed, and of course, the Mac Book Pro is shiny (always a plus).

So I have figures, I guess I just need to get some other things in gear, drum up some extra cash, get the laptop ready to sell, the old desktop setup as a server (donations from friends still welcome!) - clear off friends from all servers across the board, setup server in Bako (which is lovely for upgrades, fixes) and go from there - good stuff.

I think I am going to round up all my spare stuff I need to sell and make a list here in a bit, and I’ll post it for all to see, and see if anyone is interested in something.

Farewell Windows?

Well today as I worked I am considering ditching Windows - at this point it means selling my HP laptop, and taking bfp and converting it into a server (as I had planned) but really cut down on the boxes around here, and make my mobile a MacBook Pro - so I can still do some gaming with a decent video card, and maybe sell my old iPod (40GB HP+iPod) and get a new iPod with Video so I can sync in all my video content (mainly the free episodes, and a few music videos I got with albums) - but it’d be nice to have 1 platform, and of course Parallels to do Windows stuff with clients.

The upgrade would be a little bit of a hit on a already stressed pocketbook, but it’d streamline backups, streamline app purchases, and give me a uniform platform to work from, instead purchasing this for Windows, that for Mac, this for Linux, while Linux will always have a hole-in-the-wall server here at home & office for me, it does give me a great server platform aside from my Mac so I don’t muck up my Mac with lots of compiled server apps, and let it do what it does best, Mac stuff ;)

So yet another thing to pray about (my prayer list for things in my life just keeps growing… and growing… and growing… now if only my pocket book would do that, silly car buying ;) more later.

Another Week, and Hour Less

Well the time changed, and here I am on the eve of a new week, going into November, and I am still behind where I’d like to be, and still trying to find a way to re-structure sucessfully to allow for a vacation, a break, a week away - I do have a mini-road trip to my brother’s house this week planned,  but as always, work will be in tow, cell, email, laptop, etc. etc. - so I guess it’s better than nothing.

Some choices to be made this week, I have some work that I have been offered, and I have prayed about it some, more tonight, but as much as I’d like to take the job, make some money, part of me wants to say no, walk away, be done, not worry about the possible backlash that could follow - but we shall see indeed.

I am sitting here though, trying to unwind a bit, got some decent sleep in yesterday, and some ok sleep last night, but I really wish I had a better “normal” schedule, people keep telling me the time change will help, but I kinda doubt it - but such is the weirdness of my life, its sort of like everyone who’s been trying to set me up lately, just odd being me ;) lol well I should get back to doing nothing - as I’m sure it won’t last.

Farewell my friend… *sniff*

Tonight I lost a LCD, it died, gave up the ghost, and is no more. Strange thing is the LCD that’s 6 months older, still alive and kickin. It was odd, I went to sit down at the PC, and nothing happened, twas dead, light was glowing yellow/green looked half on, half asleep - going to hook up my old CRT to the box for now, see if the video card is working.

So I am torn as to what to do, new LCD and get online again, install XP hook it up to the new TV - aka Media Rig, or wipe it, drop CentOS on it, and start Friend Server - so many options, so little time - but its just sad it died, big investment LCD’s - so I may hold off on replacing, and just see how it all plays out, I sort of want to swap Linux boxes, take the old one, make it a server (it can be beefy) and then take the big AMD box and make it a media rig, maybe buy a copy of Media Center or similar app to go on-top of XP.

But a thought for another night, another day, a bigger pocket book (send money) ;) But thats it for me, wrapping up, going to bed, take care all.

So I got wrapped up!

Well a interesting day to say the least - the highpoints for me were:

  1. Firefox 2.0 Released
  2. Not one, not two, but 3, yes three folks talked to me about a new website… more to follow.
  3. Got a UPS delivery of a 32inch LCD TV - it’s prettyful.
  4. Had Dinner with the Fam

All in all, a fun day, busy, got some things done, but as usual, more to do - tomorrow brings a consulting gig, about an hour or so of time, meet with Matt, discuss a few things, but possibly tomorrow breakfast, I got tied up this evening, forgot to call Rosie and Jake to see what the final verdict was, but I’ll call in the AM, hopefully I don’t loose Jake, if not, there’s always 2 breakfasts :)

Mind is thankfully for once a clutter, just tired, so going to cut it short, and crash out, the new Spell Check for Firefox 2.0 - very nice, but it didn’t think “prettyful” was a word… crazy spell checks. Night Folks.

Oh 2 prayer requests:

  1. My sister Beth - had a weird flutter of the heart today, lasted 3 minutes, went to the doctor after work, and they’re gonna do tests, so be prayin for her.
  2. Me and this site idea - as soon as some details firm up, I’ll post more.

Really going this time!

The Plan Part… oh no more numbers!

Well I sat some here tonight working on the plan for server network re-build, and I am looking at actually ending up spending less a month to do even more - so it is a good setup, just looking at more networks, more functionality in software, and more options on hardware - throw in the friends server locally if and when the office situation is all figured out, and it more than works to cover all current clients, and allows a huge room for growth as time goes on.

So I am thinking it’s firm, its good to go, which leaves Monday to get started - aka the new “SERVER1″ (not it’s offical name) - but this serves as a new root name server, and a limited use server, mainly for core services/sites - so its a decent sized box, but at the same time, not over kill.

But work covered, things are fair in the personal realm, busy busy - did get to spend some time @ the Poon’s with nephews, nieces, and even a visit by Adam :) It was a good time, but I do need a break here soon, so hopefully I can get these servers all re-arranged, and maybe my weekend roadtrip to the coast, with Jake and who knows, maybe someone else (anyone wanna join?) - but it’s 12:33am, so I am going to go find a snack, watch a episode of numb3rs and goto sleep.
