Just Woke Uh… wait, no that’s a lie.

Another morning where I’ll probably crash around 11am, wake up around 3-4pm - a good nap, but the joys of a odd sleep schedule rapidly approaching.

Well the last few days I have been hitting the ol research again into the question “What do I want to be when I grow up?” - while server management is nice, pays the bills, and is ocasionally nice on the schedule (though not so much last week) - I have been yet again considering out-sourcing server admin work to another company, or quite possibly - though with the prices I charge folks probably not - hiring someone - just this past week I hit a fun spot that’s always been a “what if?” 2 times in the week I had 2 set’s of servers with issues, once with Kman and The Office, and then Kman and My Servers, so twas a tad bit of stress, though not horrible, but at the same time, not enjoyable.

So I am on the lookout again for a company which can provide me with the resources (aka oh-so-wise staff), the know-how (to take care of me and customers professionally), and maybe even a all-in-one solution which offers hardware + sysadmin work, that’s beefier than my current server configurations, which would give customers more bang for their buck - another thing in my mind, like the other project/prayer request mentioned earlier, if this sysadmin trade off happens, I’d probably have real time to invest into it - as well as other customers servers I’d still manage.

I have also looked at bringing some customers and friends back to Bakersfield, we have backup power at the office, as well as a 4 T1’s, so it’d more than hold most people I’d carry over, and while not the “ideal” solution I’d hope for, it would cut some costs as I could build a really nice server, for under $2k and it’s re-occuring costs yearly would be under $500 - which ain’t bad from a money standpoint.

So what to do? Well probably pass out sooner or later first and foremost - just want to wrap up some research, but I’d bet 11am, hopefully I’m wrong, because I know I have to be tired!

Good Show, Sore Bones ;)

Went out yesterday to Matt’s show, 16 bands, 12 hours (14 for me) - twas good fun. Not that great of a turn-out, tried to get some of my friends to come, you know who you are and who came and didn’t, for those of you who didn’t… BOOO! even with the low turn-out got to hang out with some of the bands, worked the shirt booth, watched the door, bbq’d for lots of hungry band members - and drank grape gatorade.

It was really cool thought to meet some of these folks, good fellowship, good talks/fun with the Awaken Industries crew, got to talk with Marcie for a while, and Carly (their 19month old) shook my hand, gave me 5, and waved - she’s a true redheaded sister :)

But after the last band played, we broke things down, converted The Gate back into a church with the help of Tim and Rob as always directing our tired muscles to where to layout chairs, put sound equipment back at, and did some walk-threws of bathrooms - but again, a good time! Some sore muscles today, but well worth it.
A nice weekend of course always leads to a work of crazy work hours, I want to get to the gym for a bit too I think, but that of course depends on how crazy work will be, I do have a server to setup this week to help kman level out his boxen, I think it may be time for 3 servers, lightweight, middleweight, heavyweight - and balance out clients a bit more, but I think if he wants to go 2 servers, have him chip-in with me on the server I have been talking about building for here in town, and re-locate all our light-weight customers from TN and FLX -> back to bako - 6mbps pipe for most of these folks would be MORE than enough, plus the server expandablity, on-site nature, etc. would be AWESOME to have again - but time shall tell.

Anywhoo - I do have a prayer request for me, I have been having a thought about a website, have a crew in mind for handling a BIG part of the content creation, some ideas for “cool” features, and some functionality/features I have deployed from various projects -> one spot. The thing is it’s a big under-taking, at some level I feel comfortable leaving it in the hands of the crew, but it would require me in the loop time and again to help in technical aspects, and maybe even the ocasional article - so prayers appriciated, could be a mini-revenue builder to start, and more as time goes on, but also some mini-conflicts which *COULD* arise, so prayers appriciated.

Have a good night readers (all 4 of you) :) have a awesome week!

Nap Thursdays?

I need a nap day, I think I’m on the last leg of my flu, getting out yesterday helped, fresh air, sunshine, etc. but this morning I woke up, and have had some server issues, seems like a network conflict - or a dying network card, working it out, but for now things seem to of stabalized, just don’t want to go back to sleep before I know it’s 100% again.

The joys of owning your own business :)

Life’s a funny thing….

What a whirl-wind day, just went from 0-150 in no time - just breezed by - but a good day none the less, had lunch with Rosie at Cindy’s had french toast (I make better FT) - but I drove her by Target/OfficeMax to get CD-RW’s I figured out though, I need to get her a CD burning app to really use them for what she wants to use them for - but a project for another day I imagine.

Dad got home from up north visiting with Mom while she’s working up there, he brought Mustang Bumpers, 2 engines, and mom’s shopping spree home with him. :)

Today also gave me more information on my last job, found it funny things said in regards to me, maybe one day I’ll tell you all about it, just funny stuff - life is funny though, making choices in life, some made upon a personal need for things, another made in a hope for time with another person - but in the end, life happens, sometimes smooth sailing, sometimes rough waters, sometimes I just sleep for two days, and about to crash out here in a bit to end another day of sleep, must be sick - but when I get tired, I tend to over-examine my life, choices, etc. so I am going to get off here, vs rambling about things I did and didn’t do - but bottom line, timing never seems to be right for me in the personal life area… who knows, maybe I’m called to singleness :)

Night Folks.

Mid-Week Already?!

Where does the time go? Well for the last 2 days I have more or less slept. Did get a visit from my Uncle yesterday morning, but I have just been crashed out sleepin, granted a lot of folks have called, worked on K-Man’s servers, answered emails, tickets, etc. and this morning I put my due-dates for bills on iCal to sync up with my phone later.

Kind of hoping that it doesn’t rain tomorrow, as much as I love rain, mainly because I want it to be clear so I can drive up 178 and hit Isabella at night, take so shots of a HUGE Lake vs. the usual Lake Ming. It’s a bit of a drive, but it is also a higher elevation so my hope of getting above some part of the smog layer may come true ;) ah the joys of living in/near southern california!

Finalizing of FH is underway, had some suggestions from friends who have checked it out, so I am trying to put things into place, hopefully a launch this weekend, or Monday to start off a fresh week - after reviewing my bills, I definately need to ;) this whole buying a car, car insurance, and floor mats definately sets you back a bit - but worth it and then some, new car does great, granted there is a list of add-on’s I’d love to have, but I am trying to remain strong and not spend money too much.

Anywhoo - going to try and actually be awake today, who knows how that’ll go, I think I might be fighting off the last leg of the flu, so maybe rest is a good thing - that of course said by a guy who believes rest to be more than 2 hours of sleep a night! Have a Good Wednesday folks!
