Happy Fake Friday!

What a week, feels like it has been a full week already, and its barely Wed! So I declare today Fake Friday! Go home, watch a DVD, eat a pizza, have a taco, whatever you do to unwind (I’m thinking Oatmeal! - Odd I know) - but I am ready to go home, just have 3 things left to do - must hurry.

Excitement! Then… the let down.

Well watching on Engadget today I watched the Apple Computers Inc. announcement of new devices, mainly AppleTV (iTV was better) and iPhone - and on the description of each device I was “WOAH!” AppleTV had me ready to go, and I may get it down the road, but $299 price tag was more than I expected, I figured it’d simply be a dummy device with maybe a 10GB drive for quick storage as things streamed in, but maybe later - so let down #1 was had.

Number two was even a bigger let down, but had a much larger BUILD UP! Started with the iPhone, description, features, OSX on a phone, yada yada yada, then as Engadget noted “Cingular” was at the top of the phone pictures in the title bar where your phone usually displays the Carrier name - so first hit on the wow factor, I figured Apple would not BRAND themselves to someone, but when your wanting a phone out, guess it helps to have a Bell behind ya, then the price tag, ick. That’s WITH a 2 yr contract, thats wow.

Now granted, if I had an unlimited budget, Taxes weren’t right around the corner, and I needed a Laptop (just got the MBP) I’d consider a Unlocked GSM iPhone, but honestly, I just need a nice new phone with bluetooth 1.2 or better, and maybe a camera with 1.2mp or better - but really just a nice phone would do it, plus a $200 iPod, more than happy -  but Apple is the master of the art of Hype, so I was brought up, and then quietly in a back room smashed down by Apple employees who tried to steal my wallet Maybe if the pricing levels out I’ll get AppleTV towards the end of the year (or everyone can chip in and get it for me for my birthday!) - ah the joys of being sick and sitting at a computer. Back to staring at a wall.

Good Monday To Ya!

Morning! (which is rare for me)

A possibly exciting week ahead, deployment of 3 new servers (tee-hee)  - wanting to work towards moving folks around from older servers to the newer configurations I am doing, new resources, newer methodology to housing folks on servers, in additional new security methods, as well as new software options (Considering adding Plesk options soon).

All in all, should be fun, just some final tid-bits, and waiting on 1-2 BIG checks to come in, have about 1-2k in floating spare money which will be nice, so hopefully, prayerfully, it all comes about, this revamp should increase server performance across the board, and cut total monthly costs as hardware & bandwidth have gotten cheaper since these old servers were put into service, so canceling them and migrating folks to new servers actually saves money and increases performance.

I am sure there is a slew of personal type things I could post, but if I don’t get in the shower, and goto the office soon, I’ll end up back in bed, asleep (woke up at 3am) - so I am going to push through the day - be on AIM/ICQ/YIM/GTalk - feel free to bug - writing day, so distractions are welcome.

So how’s your 2007?

Well today I took a bit of a “Me” day - been a while since I really took a day to just do, well nothing. I got to keep tabs with Mr. F as he became a daddy of #3 big-o-baby boy! (10lbs 2oz, 22.25in!) watched some Dr. Who (thank you BBC), and Stargate Atlantis (thank you Canada) and hit the office for a little bit, was treated to dinner with the kMan and his crew, good eats (spicy!) and then finished off the night, yes, I am a nerd - more Atlantis.

But the bit of relaxing was nice, but you know me, I am a sucker for work, been reading up on various companies, working on various hardware layout, and looking at software upgrades here and there - so a lot going on even when I am “not” working, but nothing that I stopped life and re-did say an entire company website (that’s next week) - but its all pretty cool, very excited about some of the things coming up, total DNS re-structure, new servers, new services (Like YourServer) and so much more - spam filter alone is one I am VERY excited about, just finishing up some UI tweaks so users can have a pretty interface to see what spam they DIDNT get.

Anywhoo - tomorrow my Bro is in town, going to work on the old office, and I show kMan the new friends server - lots of good stuff, but its late (trying this whole new “early to bed” bit) - so I am going to crash out. Night all.
