Monday Monday…

Ah the joys of Monday, lots to do, and only 24 hours to do it in ;) I have already been up for 3 hours, played a little, read a little, little a littled - but some fun tasks today include:

  • Calling WAMU about 3 other accounts that never got merged. Yay.
  • Canceling ReplayTV for real.
  • Calling Brighthouse to ditch HDTV Package (cheesy 3 channels) and switch over to the Starz package for movies.
  • Follow up with 2 possible programming gigs.
  • Drink Water
  • Toy with billing systems (yay!)
  • Eat Cake
  • Dance…Dance… Dance..

So there it is, hopefully I can get the first 5 done for sure, the billing systems bit is on-going, and while I wish it was a easy conversion or upgrade, I have a few choices to look through, short of toying with the system again on my own, which at some level, may be my preferred choice, as the billing systems out there really have begun to irritate me in functionality, ease of order, ease of gateways, etc. and while Modernbill has been good to me, the upgrade path from 4.x -> 5.x looks annoying, not to mention 5.x really doesn’t “wow” me, it’s like Vista, lots of hype low on delivery ;)

So there ya have it, got a email half drafted in gmail going out to Friends later today I hope about a move this weekend - I tried to get some photo time in last night with the meteor shower, only to find out “noise = bad” the level of noise on my camera at high ISO is bad, but trying to take pictures of mainly “black” came up with just TONS of noise, need a bigger magnification and a tripod.

Anywhoo - have a good Monday folks, I’ll be on IM, cell etc. if anyone needs me, send money ;)

Watch the Skies

Tomorrow night (originally got it mixed up on my calendar - as TONIGHT) - but starting tomorrow at 9pm is the meteor shower, and apparently according to Space.com it’s gonna be ‘a great show‘, so my plan is to head up probably towards Tehachapi as it is a bit higher than I am and gets me above the smog layer ;)

So far, I’ve only told some folks about it, but really no takers thus far, and I imagine due to its “hour” I won’t get many takers mainly because it starts at sundown till dawn the next morning… so for most of my friends who are folks who work I imagine if invited would say “well I have work in the morning” which is a perfectly fine answer, I do too, but I’ll probably be working once I get home :)

Anywhoo … good day of sleep for the most part, might just go back as I took a nap thinking today was the day, but when I went to lookup which way to look, it said great viewing started Sunday Night - soooo now to unwind, and dream of meteors tomorrow.

Movie Night!

So I just got done watching 2 movies with my cousin, Children of Men & Ms. Potter - I enjoyed #2 but #1 - eh - so so, but both I have seen before, but it was a enjoyable re-watch on Ms. Potter, but Children of Men I simply said “..eh..” - still have Hot Fuzz left ;) looking forward to that, hoping to get a good couple of laughs like I did with SotD.

Today was good, was woken up by the sound of my headset buzzing (it vibrates) I keep it near my head to buzz if I am getting a call, so I started my day off by waking up into a hour and a half conversation on the phone, and what a conversation. I went into my day after that, fixing up some things, playing a little, it’s friday for goodness sake! So I was trying to relax, however this evening - massive… network… outage. My upstream lost an entire subnet - were not talking just a Class C of IP’s but a entire subnet, granted this is RARE if ever, thankfully for over 6 months this line has been solid solid solid, but this drop was about 2hrs! Thankfully the servers were online, operational, just needed to get their internet back - so once the issue was resolved (my guess is a core router died on the edge of their network) - I was back.

So quite a day quite a day, kind of want to just goto sleep, but another part of me just wants to go and relax and enjoy the movie, then pass out ;) So we shall see what happens - hope everyone has a good weekend, this next weekend I hope to migrate friend accounts from their various server homes -> friends server, so lots to plan, lots of things to set in motion.

Anywhoo - again I’ll say it, have a good weekend folks!

Et tu,Thursday?

Okay - so it wasn’t that bad, just some things towards the afternoon, just feel bad for my friend’s business, he has lost hope, and with a small business it’s not hard to do, clients are slow to pay, or choose “not” to pay, budget is tight, things come, things go - and while I can safely say I don’t run a perfect business, I do my best, and when I get down, and bummed about things, I take a step back.

Life is perspective - this week looking back has been some things which really helped re-focus me a bit, things got done that needed to be done, and I saw things put into motion which could give things a nice spin and make lives better, not just my own, but a lot of people I know, but when your nose to nose with life, you only see two eyes staring back at you - take a step back, get the bigger picture, see the whole issue, not just that which is 3in away from your face.

I have been told a few times over the last 3 weeks that I work things out in my mind differently than most, and while some think that is a blessing, sometimes it is a curse :) from over-thinking, to over-doing, to setting aside what some would consider “logical” thought, and doing what my heart tells me is right - like businesses I have helped over the last 6 years, when I should of setup a job, I continued to help - so its not always the best “outcome” as I would say it’s the curse of being nice, but in the end, life goes on - and a friend of mine see’s recent changes in his life as a similar curse of being nice.

Life goes on, life changes, goals/dreams/desires change - life is progressive, it’s adaptive, its growing and changing - finding hope where there is none, sometimes you have to let go that things will work out way ABC, and see that XYZ is already waiting for you :)

So that’s my ramble, that sums up a lot going on in my head, and I know all the little things ,the changes in companies, the changes in business, it’ll all work out in the end, just takes time! For now, I am going to go play with CakePHP a bit more, printed the 150 page manual, slowly thumbing threw it to get some of the constructs down…. fun reading for a Friday ;) Have a Good One Folks!

Updated Wordpress

My playing with CakePHP has ended for now, I like some of the interface, not as elegant as Ruby, but PHP is a more accessible language at the moment and some of the basics are looking pretty nice - but a break was needed to step back from the joys of toying with it, and decided to work on my blog a little and get some client details done, all in all a productive morning :)

Well back to it for another hour or so, then a good long nap. Another day of trying to track down some money ;) (yay)

Dev, Money, Lunch.. Now that’s a day.

Today was a good day, started at 2am, got a nap in the afternoon after a meeting fell thru, and here I am working this evening toying with CakePHP, seeing what it can do for me, so far I rather enjoy it - but it was a good day.

Lunch was fun got to hang out and enjoy a meal with Adam, Dan and Jake @ my favorite downtown lunch spot Kosmos - good pastrami, good service, good Mr. Pibb ;) was a fun lunch, good catching up, good laughs, good good good.

Money is still a tad tight, seems like each time I get funds back in the bank, the bill I was worried about coming in, processes lol. so thankfully God is good, and is keeping it flowing smoothly, I have a PayPal transfer coming into it tomorrow I hope, which will help greatly, and if I can get the $450 I have floating between migration payment & a backup client, then I’ll be all fixed up - plus a project, I may get to pick up on Friday could get me a good bit of cash to put into the pot, so pretty happy about that.

This weekend I hope to move friend accounts smoothly from the various servers -> friends server, it has been running smooth with my test domain, so going to make the move for this site and a few others over the weekend, should be smooth, most aren’t huge, just simple blogs, personal website - so going to get that all ironed out and good to go - going to start a monthly donation drive for Friends if they want to contribute to the monthly costs as some have wanted to do, going to make some options to let folks donate whatever they like to help me out (payment in iPod’s is accepted) :)

Anywhoo - a good day, things are moving, get a few days to myself here starting tomorrow, so may be out partying non-stop (lol yeah.. me.) but its good stuff, thanks to those of you who have checked in on me, though you were few in number, none the less I appreciate it! So have a good Thursday folks.

Greetings Monday… go away.

So a mixed day, still trying to get sleep back in check, but as usual, the game goes on, and passing out in the afternoon messed up somethings with payments (ah the joys of online payments) - so I’m going to have me a late fee, just seems like the more I try to be good and stick to my budget, the more things crop up and want my money lol.

But this day hasn’t been entirely bad, it has been mellow, heck even at 7pm only 85F outside at the moment, which is nice, had some nice chats, got some work done around here, not a ton (downside to sleep balancing out)  but all in all, just ready for Tuesday and hoping it’ll go better, that clients will catch up their bills, that the billing system upgrade options I am looking at pan themselves out, and that I can drum up new backup clients as everyone who told me before “Sure yeah, get that, I’m down!” have all come back and said “Well…..” ah the dreaded second thoughts.

So anywhoo, off to continue my quest on my bedroom I think, need to go buy some filing boxes to sort out some paper work a bit better, and then get it into storage somewhere out of the way… hopefully I can get back to my couch soon :) I miss my couch. Also as someone pointed out the donation buttons for PayPal disappeared, they did, if anyone wanted to send something, let me know, I can do PayPal or for you Anti-PayPal’ers, I can do Visa/MC off-site as well.
