You know it’s friday when your day makes the progression of the title today. What started off as a fair day, some minor blips, but nothing major, got things rolling, got around, got things lined up for a time-table of fun, but then after lunch things went down-hill, server ate it, find out all these end of month things as they happen, well except one - just insane.
So after that, I am driving home, as I am coming in the home stretch, a CHP pulls up and tailgates me with no lights on, so I move out of his way, then he suddenly gets behind me again, and lights up his lights and pulls me over - what was casual speed of traffic driving is suddenly 20 over (85 in a 65) - blah! Of course since I have no priors in over 18 months (more like 4 years) I am up for Traffic School (just like last time) - part of me wants to contest it, but again I just don’t want to 1 wake up for court that early to have a judge say “Sorry kiddo” and Two - I just want to clear it, point be gone with traffic school and move on, I have only had 1 other ticket ever, granted I have had a major accident once, but even that was over 6+ years ago? I dunno, long day, brain is tired.
So there it is, I could rant some more, but honestly - this day just needs to be put to bed, I’d considered going to see Solomon, but I think I am going to hold off as I don’t know if I am just tired, or fighting a bit of a cold myself, so better safe than sorry - Solomon isn’t going anywhere (unless Dan and Val are planning on leaving the country) so for now I am going to work on some EE code, was going to move it during my lunch break, but that didn’t happen with all my fun insanity today - continued prayers are still greatly appreciated, still finding all the balance in this job, my business, and downtime for myself.
Anywhoo for now, I am going to do something, not sure what, but something - maybe go cry in the corner - I hope everyone has a good Friday, a fun weekend, and all the toast they can eat… mmmmm… toast. Night/Afternoon and Good morning All.
Well I beat my last 2 years time in making a plan for my birthday! Hooray! This morning I sent out word of the gathering this evening - Denny’s is the place, may seem odd, but its last minute, mid-week, and I know many folks will be maybes at some point, but already we have 4 for sure, and some folks as maybes - the real-deal is Saturday at Ming, in what looks to be sunshine and lovely weather - so one step at a time.
Today I got pictures of Mr. Solomon Poon, good looking baby! So that brightened my morning after surviving a marketing meeting… I and about 3 other people nearly fell asleep at the meeting, it was hilarious, but all in all today has been a good day, I am hoping to squeeze in some private work here for a bit, I hate my auth scheme for EE - so I am going to do a quick swap and see if the new idea I have in mind works, I just backed up the code so going to give it a whirl.
All in all though for 4 days straight here at the new job, it’s going well, things are smoothing out, even got a few folks thanking me for my hard work, just a lot of little things I am trying to iron out, Charlie did some good work out here, but as he said I am a salesman, and a few things I have sold them on are taking hold, Google Apps vs. Arrival (hooray!) and I put in for a quote for on a entry level dell server with 1TB of storage/no-os/2gb ram/mid-range drives - so I may have a big dell order, who knows maybe they’ll hook me up with a dell XPS laptop ah a man can dream can’t he!
Anywhoo! Off to code, if anyone would like to come out to Denny’s to celebrate with us, 7:30pm @ Weedpatch, buzz my cell so I know how many seats to ask for, you know that place get’s packed out! More later!
Hi, My name is Chuck, this is my site - I think, it’s been so long…. I need a nap, but for a little bit of an update, I am alive, I am busy busy busy, been working like crazy in my wonderful 8-to-5 world, with a mix of FH/TN in-between - so far so good.
Tomorrow, 1 day from now, is my birthday. 28. Yowza. I have NO idea what I am doing to celebrate, there was talk of RollerRama, there was talk of bowling, but I imagine after my day tomorrow, the only thing I am going to want to do, is sleep - lol. But I do want to get together with friends, have a meal, hang out, eat some cake, etc. or such is my thought/plan - but as usual, down to the wire with me, I have no idea, nor have I had the time to honestly even think about it - work, sleep, work, sleep, hang out away from the PC, work, sleep. etc. that seems to be the “standard” as of late.
So tomorrow we’ll see - heck I am going to try to come up with something tonight, but then again I am going to start coding at 7, and probably not stop till 11 - soooo we’ll see what happens. For now though, I’ll say “farewell!” and head off to find something to drink.
What a day what a day. You know I have truly been blessed with amazing customers on the FH/TN side, patience, understanding, the occasionally “WHAT IS GOING ON?!” but usually after a brief “Here’s the situation” they breathe, it’s all good - today coming into a freshly migrated office, I got a pretty mellow response, nothing crazy, nothing bad, just a few questions, so things were sorted, problems dealt with, some people wanted their hand held, not a major issue, if it gets it taken care of, then by all means, hold a hand some - but then there was the trouble one… there is always at least one.
Nothing I could do could make it fixed it seemed, and most of it was an issue created by the crazy configurations of Netscape 7.2, so trying to explain that didn’t help. So the battle of not even a little tech savvy + high stress + 4 smokes later, they were still frustrated, but I tried to keep my cool because it had been a crazy morning of questions, calls, etc. so I was trying to keep my head on straight, stay patient, and really work towards getting things fixed, and to put their mind at ease, I opened a ticket with Google, they of course saw nothing wrong, it was just a slow email day, but it’s change.
So the day wrapped up at work, I got about 5 minutes into the projects I had planned, but I think email will be good to go tomorrow, of course I think the boss man is going to try and get me to goto his house to work on his desktop - but none the less, day was done, time to move towards home, but we had plans for dinner @ Scott’ so I called, he’s on the way home asked I could just show up early, he said it was cool - so I hung out there till about 45 minutes ago, we had dinner on his patio, played some Xbox, talked some, ate some brownies, it was pretty fun - but all good things must come to an end, thus I am home, working once again.
I have an order to fill on FH, some emails to sort thru, I have been pushing some cPanel upgrades, but nothing too serious, tomorrow I hope to get some time in on 2 ecommerce projects to wrap them up, there is a pesky software upgrade that is bugging me, more code on EE to see if I can’t meet a deadline of this weekend for Mr. Sean, but busy busy busy it seems, going to only go till about 11:30 tops, then flip the TV on, and just fade away to sleep - quite a day indeed, PLUS I still need to figure out a final plan for my birthday, Rollerama is still seeming like the “plan” but my birthday has some interesting things to it, more on that tomorrow.
Anywhoo - back to it, lots to do, little time Night folks!
Quite a weekend, scripts, email, email, scripts, ecommerce, sleep, church, rest, church, carrows, babies, coding, work, sleep, denny’s, no power, battery backup, random, scary, alarm - etc. would describe this weekend - but as we lead into this last week of Feb. for me it’s the end of not only feb, but of being 27, as of Thursday, 28 will have arrived at my doorstep, and I creep one step closer to 30, but not a huge deal, but my niece did make me a picture of a cake that had 29 on it lol. I love you kiddo, but slap your father.
To explain a few things from that list, would take a while, but I wish this weekend had a few more hours in it, to explain it, and work on some things, but for now I am going to call it a night, curl up and watch a movie as a pass out, and try to get to work a bit earlier than normal to make a run thru of computers and see that email is coming in, as well as get a few things ready on my own desktop - personally I think I am going to give up a email client at work, and just use the Gmail interface - it’s good stuff.
Anywhoo - if anyone has birthday ideas, let me know currently folks are throwing around the idea of Rollerama (skating rink) for my birthday and while it sounds silly, I am not sure what I want to do as usual lol - so who’s up for the lake again? but we’ll see what happens, hopefully something will come to mind and we’ll get it rolling. But for now, sleep beckons. Night all.
A quick entry before I head out to hear my dad preach - at 11:30am on Feb. 23 (5 days shy of my birthday!) Mr. Solomon Poon was born! The final details as we knew he had been born, but no specs. are 8lbs 9oz, 21 inches tall! Val and Solomon are doing fine, healthy and good - hopefully some pictures to follow (Dan, my camera is at your disposal if you need it!) but BIG congrats to my good friends in their wonderful new bundle of joy!
So here we are, Friday. A day of things it seems, a migration of email, that has some folks worried, no no not TN/FH related, but rather MLS - my 8 to 5 job has been having issues with the local ISP when it comes to email thus we looked at options and are going to Google Apps, so tonight the MX rolls out, and we switch over and online - a piece of cake really, tomorrow I’ll come in for maybe an hour or two and setup a secondary email account for them to check. Should keep things rolling smoothly, then in a week we can clear the old one and use only the new one.
Now of course what Friday wouldn’t be complete without a baby! Dan and Val are having their first, and the plan was to induce today so I hope to hear something more on baby status here soon, but I may call the Gavin and see if he can give me the skinny here in an hour or so since he has a cell phone, and like any good teenager it’s always on but I am looking forward to meeting the latest member of the Poon family!
So far this week though has been good, some fun challenges, but I get tired around Wed. and can’t sleep well, thursday drags on and on, then here I am whammo - Friday, only 3 hours under my belt, but strangely I am operating pretty fair (at least I think so) - but things are moving forward, I’ll probably post something more complete later tonight or tomorrow, but for now I am going to get back to it, reading Postini docs to see the best way to deploy.
