That glorious crossroad….

Well I got home to a pile of pans, assorted foods, silverware, some bowls & glasses, etc. etc. my mom is gifting me I think about 2/3 of her kitchen lol - I love my parents, they too are excited about this move, and folks keep asking me “Are You Excited!!!???” the answer, I am patiently waiting. (Yes!)

So many crossroads in life, I think we rush into things, we don’t take that bit to stop, park the car and just go “WOW” we really do breeze by in hopes that the quick drive will get us to bigger and better things quicker, that somehow we control the overall pace of our lives - but as I found in this video [linkage] via TED (which I found on one my RSS feeds today) slowness is good - so I am trying to enjoy this experience, one day at a time, as I have been making an effort to for years now.

I have done the house thing before, heck had me a 3 bedroom 1 bath, for a year or two, then picked up a roommate (lil sis) then folks all moved back in, and some things changed, some things didn’t, but this past few years living at home with parents has been pretty nice, maybe not what every 20 something thinks to themselves in the morning “I can’t wait to see if Dad’s hogging the shower this morning….” but as my father noted to me in a discussion the other morning before I applied for the apartment, he said:

You’ve always watched out for us, but one way or another, God can take care of us, and you’ll continue to as well.

I of course cut out the stories he shared - but the jist of it, I guess I have been a help, and I guess that’s what God has been trying to show me these past few days as things started to line up with putting in the app, more and more people have offered to help move, offered supplies, furniture, time, etc. to help me get all moved in and sorted. I had honestly thought that I’d simply move lots of small things over in my car, then get Dan to help with the big stuff (aka he has a truck) - but more and more folks are offering me, at times the shirt off their back - and that’s just amazing to me.

So I am enjoying this journey once again into independence - asking questions on getting things taken care of, having great friends offering help without even having to ask, just being heaped on, that’s a blessing and a half - but as the video above notes, get in touch with your inner turtle, slow down. Enjoy moments like this in your own life, cherish and look forward to slowing down at the end of the day to just not think - and look around and say “WOW”

I could close with my ever classic “anywhoo” but I will say this to each of you out there who have offered help, prayers, time, advice, even just the simple “How is it going?” - thanks. I truly appreciate the outpouring over something as simple to most folks as an apartment, but to me a big step forward, and the good old fashioned “Change” so I look forward to seeing what this change brings. I’ll post more on the apartment when I hear it, but as I told my Dad and Dan, if I get it Praise the Lord if I don’t… Praise the Lord.

God is Good.

Apartment Update

Soooooo - I just got back from lunch, even did as Scott suggested, picked up food this time on the way in :) but I met with the retnal guy “Craig” nice chap, got him me checks, me app, me stubs, me drivers lic. and he is going to push things through for me, and if all goes as planned — a Saturday move in!

So lots to do once I get the “A-Ok” which includes calling cable company, alarm companies, phone company(Not sure) - but must get some things rolling, power, gas, water, etc. not entirely sure on some of them but I am sure between the apartment manager/friends/family - I’ll get it all sorted and be online & happy within a week or so, have a nice house warming with some friends!

Anywho - pretty excited, but probably more so once he calls and says “Your Good to Go!” and Saturday morning I’ll get me some keys! Woohoo! Still keeping it up in prayer, so anything is possible, but it’s looking like it’s a go! But really now, back to work, more later!

Apartment Adventure Continues!

So tomorrow I hope to hear from the apartment people, I left a message in hopes of finding a time that I can get down there and get the final bits sorted - but if it is a no-go again, I think 3 times is a good try, but thru all of it trying to remain open to this change, as much as I may try to fight it ;)

A long day, but a lot done I think, still can’t seem to shake this exhaustion, and if I didn’t have a newsletter to work on tomorrow, I’d so call in sick and just rest up - but apparently I am semi-reliable - a pile of things to do tomorrow though, after a crazy day - more to follow :)

Anywhoo - I appreciate the prayers, folks checking in and seeing what’s up - hopefully tomorrow will bring a conclusion to the Apartment situation :) but it may be the start of a journey, time will tell. Night Folks.

Apartment Bound!

Well I am moving forward with an apartment, big step - home has always been where I have lived, since I was 4 I think, it’s a good home, it’s served me well, but it’s  time, and after a good talk with my Dad, some good prayer time on the matter - it’s a step forward I simply need to take - now if this is the time or not, I leave 100% up to God - as I am going down tonight to snag 2 checks totalling $425 - going to turn in the app, and we’ll see what happens!

Pretty excited, little nervous, just trying to remain positive no matter what happens, as who knows, may it is simply not the time, and I pray that if that be the case, the Lord would close this door, and we will see what happens, if it is, then I’ll get things all setup, maybe my bed, and take my laptop, but then slowly get things rolling, internet access/cable setup, phone, etc. etc.

So keep me in your prayers, I’ll post an update here in a little bit, hoping to sneak to the bank, then off to the complex here in a bit - maybe 10minutes early from work, but I know it’ll be made up this week most likely with the firewall install - so off I go!

Update (6:30pm) - Well the guy I spoke to was gone by the time I got there :( apparently I didn’t get across time quickly enough and his “working late” wasn’t as “late” as he imagined! So going to call in the AM, maybe call in to work that I am going to be late - we’ll see again, if this is a closed door, then so be it - just giving it 1 more try.

The Weekend - Too Quick!

I had a fun weekend, and found some fun things, but might not of gotten all the sleep I needed - in the end though I think it was fun, good food - family, friends, a nice mix all around, missed Church tonight (Sorry Scott!) but it was for a family gather, in which we had some wonderful homemade Chinese food - quite delicious.

But this weekend posed the question “Apartment?” and I think the answer is quite simply “Yes” - I love my parents, and I love giving them fancy things like Cable, Internet, Cash, and Food, but they have both made it clear over the last month or two, that they don’t want to hold me back - to make me feel like I MUST be there to take care of them, so moving out isn’t so bad, plus I am more or less in the area still, as my apartment is only a mere 3 miles away (Bike Riding Distance!) so still nearby if needed, but my own place to relax, set rules, have wild parties (Note: Wild Parties = Food and Video Games lately) - but it could be fun.

The plan is to sleep on it tonight, pray it up real good, but unless someone comes to me with a $800/m house for rent, or some reason I SHOULD NOT move, I think I am going to push forward and have my move-in date be Friday, not a big rush, but I imagine it would give me time to slowly move in over the weekend, and maybe take Monday-Wednesday off to setup, and be around for things like PG&E, Cable Install, etc. and get all setup and fancy - but again, one step at a time, trying not to plan my life for this next week, as I know it’s gonna get busy.

Anywhoo - it’s getting close to that time, and morning is going to come early, tomorrow should be interesting, need to finish the newsletter for work, and I am sure a slew of other projects will follow, hopefully that of new firewall installed etc. but time will tell. I do appreciate all the prayers from you all, much appreciated indeed - I’ll keep you all posted, for now though I will say “Good Night!” and have a great week!

Apartment, or Not to Apartment?

Well it’s been 6 months since I looked at apartments, I have also had 6 months of a job, and a minor raise since then (the raise @ 90 days) but I went again to my favorite Shadow Ridge, didn’t get any photos, thought about it, but I like it, they showed me the 2bed, 2bath 1 car garage ones, $895 a month, but nifty to have a garage, but on the flip side, they did show me the same 2bed 1 bath for $750 a month, and it’s nice, very roomy, upstaris - so a nice workout to and from the car ;)

I like the idea of living on my own again, and I do realize that it also means that I’ll have a lot more in expenses each month, but the ULTRA cool thing with the place, they are having a special 1/2 off the first FULL month’s rent, so pro-rated first month, 1/2 off the next month - so some time for the budget to re-coup - and on top of that since it’s all part of the up-front, I’ll be paid up in rent till October, so very nice indeed.

A lot of perks, not as fun to live alone always, but I think lately I’ve been hiding out since I get home, not that I am bugged by my parents, but just a lot on the mind lately, so many odd things happening lately with work and such, I just find I come home, work a bit, then sleep.

Anywhoo - just posting to ask for folks to keep me lifted up in prayer, really looking at this option seriously, seems like it could be a good fit, but I am going to poke around Sunday’s paper, and see if maybe there are any other offers I should explore before jumping into this one quickly, nothing says I HAVE to move out, but I think it might be time. Thanks for the prayers and have a lovely Saturday!

Tinker Time!

Well the night has come, Unicron-Classic (lol) is being shutdown as I type. It was a good server, lasted longer than I thought it would, even if it did cause me great grief this past weekend locking up, running out of ram, etc. but the customers of that server (not mine) are now re-located to 2 masterful 8-Core systems - and doing great on lovely RAID10 drive setups, so a nice improvement for those folks, I am sure there are some little bugs waiting for me here and there, but all in all, very very happy!

In other news! My parts showed up today, as I have been working here, I have been trying out the new thumbdrive which is for a combo of personal and a combo of work, 16GB of thumbdrive wonderfulness - so very happy, and every little bit I have been putting together the system, and it’s going well - but I’ll post more later, a few things to sort out in here, and waiting on the final on the old server, etc. etc. but tonight I’ll have a few things to post about… more soon!
