G1 Ordered….

Well I took the plunge, I snagged the G1 from T-Mobile, I had to leave the data/txt plans off for now as if I set them up I’d loose internet on my phone currently (iPhone - Internet = Blech!) LoL - but honestly pretty excited to really give the unit a run for it’s money, granted I don’t have “3G” in the area yet, but honestly I have been using Edge for a year or 3 and it’s served me well, not crazy fast - but access when I need it.

Some have asked why I am jumping the “Apple bandwagon” honest I don’t think I am (double checks) nope - but honestly I haven’t been in the “bandwagon” with Apple ever, I liked the cut of the iPhone simply because it gave me the internet access I needed really - but the phone has always for me been made better by the open source movements of Cydia which gave me TONS of apps, themes, etc. and with Android having it’s source out there as well as a readiliy available SDK and a simple $25 app store sign-up fee for devs, I think the G1 and other Android based phone have an amazing playing field - not to mention the source for an entire phone’s OS to tweak/mod/re-package? Gnome G1? KDE G1? Yes please.

So pretty jazzed, looking like the 31st is my G1 day, but we’ll see, if things go my way, hopefully sooner, if not, not a huge deal, I have a working phone, and once it gets here I’ll give it a run for it’s money and really compare the two not as a Apple fanboy (like many reviews of the G1 are) the G1 is a different phone entirely, not ever in my mind at least meant to be a iPhone KILLER.

Fresh Week, Step 1 - Breathe.

A new week, lots still to be done, but just barely feel like I am coming over a big chunk of stress, fatigue, etc. so much to do, but due to the mix of work, work, and lack of personal time :) things get crazy, so I am going to possibly figure out a new schedule with the day job, not sure 100% about that, but I am definately praying about it as I just don’t feel right working on customer projects @ the office - not that they “claim” to mind, but there is also that looming “EVERYTHING HERE IS TOP PRIORITY” even “the batteries died in my mouse.. oh wait, I have some here in my desk.”

The FH site has been slow going, I had hoped to have it up the 13th, but that has come and gone pretty quickly, thus really hampering the Crazy October Specials, but I think I may finally let that tradition go, 2 years and I haven’t really had a solid promo for it, but I think I may do the “Winter” specials as a trade off, not to mention the new packages setup for the hosting that all users will get a free upgrade to - so win-win for everyone!

I am having to re-learn a lot of things when it comes to the joy of relaxing, with FH/TN I had really found a balance of things, and worked to get some rest under my belt, to take a day and relax, this past Friday it took falling asleep in a massage chair to finally loosen me up some - one perk of work, thankfully Friday was a VERY slow day at the office, and it let me unwind a bit going into the weekend - but I am slowly finding things again, new printer I got for my home office does photo printing, so I am watching for deals on ink/paper again for the “Epson Artisan 800″ so I can get out with the new camera lens (35mm picked up 2-3 months ago) and really get some fun shots - and then print them for the office @ work.

Other things for relaxation was Rock Band 2 for 360, my former friend (Aka. Mr. Peer Pressure) egged me on (thanks Scott!) and I picked up the last copy for 360 tonight @ Target, thus I talked Scott to coming over for a bit and rockin out with me to some nerd songs like the “Still Alive” from Portal, and Skullcrusher Mountain by Jonathan Coulton - A lovely song ;) then after he left I worked on my usual Band name “Potato” and got me a Van, so pretty sweet, but I do plan to lug the 360, drums, guitar, and mic over to the Poon place tonight (just became Monday a bit ago) and enjoy some fun with the gang - should be fun!

Do keep me in your prayers, I am trying to get a lot of things sorted - personal, faith, business, work, etc. just a lot on my plate lately and I don’t think I am giving a lot of quality time to any one, and I am really considering the possiblity of start of the year going a different route with the day job or finding some crazy way to hire someone to work FH/TN more agressively.

Anywhoo - nearly 12:30am - I need to eat something, and then get to bed, a full day tomorrow - but I have my new pencil, my moleskine, and I am going to get things sorted the old fashioned way on Paper then merge it up to various GTD like my favorite RTM - so hopefully I can line things up this next week and really get a priority of tasks, and narrow it all down into a lovely week of get’n it done! :) So have a lovely week, and I hope to post more soon!

Projects Galore!

So things are moving along with projects, not as quickly as I had hoped, but I am alive - today was rough after I grinded away at code last night not feeling good already, and I think I got it done, but never heard back from the client, but after 5 hours looking at code/site straight I pass things off to the client for a fresh set of eyes to look at it, not just my cached browser and tired eyes.

The FH project should be up and online by noon tomorrow, a little late, but I wanted it to roll out right as it’s the first big redesign in over a year, so tonight I am going to do some more fine tuning and see what I can fix bug wise as I know there is a few, but I also need to run it thru a few more browsers than just my fine collection of Mac and Linux based browsers, so going to shift to the Vista rig later today to run some tests since the design is only local at the moment - but some exciting changes I am hoping to unleash!

New shirt, one I was very excited about as I am not a fan of this election (or really any thus far), I think it promotes the best cannidates we could ask for, and I think it will look stylish with my freshly washed clothes! As it is laundry night I am currently on the last 5-10 minutes of washing, so it is time to wrap it up.

Anywhoo - nice to write again, more I could chat about on the personal end of things, but I’ll cover that more this week as life calms a bit, but for now I’ll say have a lovely evening, a great Eli Stone Tuesday ;) and thanks for the prayers!

I’m Awake…

Been a interesting week or two, sounds like for a few folks I know too - really tired, but tonight I just can’t get comfortable, and I have a pile of sites on the docket, one I am not sure I can fix … easily… the joys of outdated software which has gone MAJOR template overhauls since first installed.

Overall though I do think things are getting better (well aside from not sleeping)  2AM isn’t uncommon for me, but I hope to be in bed by that time, just trying 1 last attempt at some fixes, not sure they will work, but at this point it’s something that I hope will, and tomorrow I have to work on sorting some content into some pages for a customer who isn’t really sure what they want, so were on hit-and miss attempt #3 - hoping this is it, if not, I am going to have to lay out some solid requirements to complete this project.

Anywhoo - need to focus on the site a bit more, busy busy all around, and my bed isn’t helping I think a spring pokes my back all night, as the last restful bit of sleep was in a recliner! I may go there, if I had a key! Have a Good Wednesday folks! More news to come this weekend and next week! Busy busy!

Sleep Shortly

What a week this has been, hard to believe that it is already Thursday! Wow! A lot has gotten done, a lot of fires put out before they got bad, some strange things worked out for the best, and progress on a lot of fronts - not all the fronts that I had hoped - but progress is slow going, and change takes time.

A odd day at work, our new office bandwidth cut out at noon, and the COO was obviously a tad frustrated, this move was supposed to improve performance (READ: Speed) and give us more pipe (10Mbps) compared to our old connection (1.5Mbps) but for the last 2 days we have had issues, so for the remainder of the week I have 2 monitors, and a smokeping on the line, watching for outages, and I am going to try to push it at the lunch hour and see if maybe they just are oversold/overloaded.

On my own end, a productive morning - some DNS issues for the kMan, minor firewall Q&A, a DCMA violation on some software which was a error, that went too far lol, but it too was taken care of, and things are all rolling good, I have the HTML for the new FH being re-worked 100% I like the look of it, but I am also wanting 100% compliance if at all possible, I want it to be compliant with CSS/HTML standards and viewable nice and pretty - so I am doing my best - HTML is a tad rusty as of late, but I am making due.

The way home was interesting, at my exit I found a LONG line to get off our exit, which is not normal, myself and the car in front of me pulled over to help push a lady’s car off the freeway, her car died (hybrid) so she neutral’d it and me and the other driver pushed her off the on-ramp to the side of the road - she had a phone and was calling for help, thanked us, and off we went back to our journey home!

So a wild ending to my day - loafed a lot tonight, did some HTML for the kMan and MySelf to fill in some time, enjoyed the new Starz content on Netflix INSTANT view - about an hour left on Deja Vu (go Denzel!) so it was a fun evening, got to chat with 2 friends online and reviewed some Flickr stats on my account - all in all, fun stuff.

Anywhoo - it is time for bed, already shaved, brushed the teeth, and I feel ready for a nap, stomach ache is still hangin around, not sure if it’s this new sinus meds I picked up from Target “All Day Allergy” claims to be similar to Zyrtec, but it’s cleared up my allergies for sure, just not sure if it’s the source of my stomach ache, but I am going to lay off it tomorrow and see as the dosage lasts 24 hours - so that’s it for me, off to bed, have a good Thursday Folks!

Heroes, PHP, Goldmine, Etc.

So another week, another pile of things to do - and in 9 minutes I hope to be on my way to sleep - as it’s been a long day - a lot got done, some work on some sites that required some PHP tweaking, updating some scripts, and prepping for more to come, but also some nice downtime watching Heroes (lovely), and really unwinding before bed.

Tomorrow though brings the continued fun working to merge the old recovered Goldmine and the new changes folks have put in recently, ah the joys of work ;) but work is getting smoother slowly but surely, hope to have more progress on the office, like many things they expect done “instantly” at work, this is one thing I did not want to rush, as there is a LOT of crap in there, some should of been thrown away in 1990, instead it was piled on bookshelves taking up space galore, but now I have a lot more open space, and more to come.

Anywhoo - that was more or less my quick update. Sleep becomes me in a few minutes and I still have a few more glasses of water to catch up on (long story) but needless to say, I am hoping for a good day tomorrow - I hope you all have a good one too!

Sleepy Weekend

This weekend I had plans to work on some things, and thus far… that has not happened. I had to hang out waiting for the Apartment’s AC guy to come by for some inspection, apparently I have a smooth running AC - so that took out most of the day 10-4, but everything else thus far has been sleep or relaxing, not a project to work on… some I should be, but I’ve been working for 6 days straight of PHP/Server/Design - and I needed a break.

I am thinking about getting a new iMac - haven’t really purchased anything for the business this year, so I am thinking it may be time to get a new desktop as it has been almost 2 years since I got this station, and the its a CoreDuo not Core2Duo so it would be nice to kick it up a notch - but we’ll see - Apple.com does have some re-furbished models for a good sized discount, so I may pull off that, and get the RAM upgrade from Newegg as well as a new storage drive for Time Machine - not 100% sure yet, but really really considering it.

Business is slow - been going over the logs, not many new sales, but then again the site needs a big refresh, and that’s nearly done - one of the projects I had hoped to work on this weekend, and I still may tomorrow, granting I am not still asleep - but a nice refresh to FH and TN would do wonders I’d imagine, and once that’s up and running maybe snag a few more sales and eek up revenues a bit, but eventually I’d love to see the ability to leave the day-job behind again and focus on the ol Self Employement Game ;)

Anywhoo - nearly 11, going to go start sipping some water and watching some TV then hopefully pass out on the couch, but tomorrow could bring some fun stuff - have a blessed Sunday folks!
