Projects Galore!

So things are moving along with projects, not as quickly as I had hoped, but I am alive - today was rough after I grinded away at code last night not feeling good already, and I think I got it done, but never heard back from the client, but after 5 hours looking at code/site straight I pass things off to the client for a fresh set of eyes to look at it, not just my cached browser and tired eyes.

The FH project should be up and online by noon tomorrow, a little late, but I wanted it to roll out right as it’s the first big redesign in over a year, so tonight I am going to do some more fine tuning and see what I can fix bug wise as I know there is a few, but I also need to run it thru a few more browsers than just my fine collection of Mac and Linux based browsers, so going to shift to the Vista rig later today to run some tests since the design is only local at the moment - but some exciting changes I am hoping to unleash!

New shirt, one I was very excited about as I am not a fan of this election (or really any thus far), I think it promotes the best cannidates we could ask for, and I think it will look stylish with my freshly washed clothes! As it is laundry night I am currently on the last 5-10 minutes of washing, so it is time to wrap it up.

Anywhoo - nice to write again, more I could chat about on the personal end of things, but I’ll cover that more this week as life calms a bit, but for now I’ll say have a lovely evening, a great Eli Stone Tuesday ;) and thanks for the prayers!

I’m Awake…

Been a interesting week or two, sounds like for a few folks I know too - really tired, but tonight I just can’t get comfortable, and I have a pile of sites on the docket, one I am not sure I can fix … easily… the joys of outdated software which has gone MAJOR template overhauls since first installed.

Overall though I do think things are getting better (well aside from not sleeping)  2AM isn’t uncommon for me, but I hope to be in bed by that time, just trying 1 last attempt at some fixes, not sure they will work, but at this point it’s something that I hope will, and tomorrow I have to work on sorting some content into some pages for a customer who isn’t really sure what they want, so were on hit-and miss attempt #3 - hoping this is it, if not, I am going to have to lay out some solid requirements to complete this project.

Anywhoo - need to focus on the site a bit more, busy busy all around, and my bed isn’t helping I think a spring pokes my back all night, as the last restful bit of sleep was in a recliner! I may go there, if I had a key! Have a Good Wednesday folks! More news to come this weekend and next week! Busy busy!

Upgrades!

Well I finally made some progress at work, seemed like lately a lot of things were against me, the drive failure was bad, but I have really pushed forward that things need to change - and for this company as I told the President of the company is like cavemen, the moment something is different/wrong - they run back to the safety of the cave, but thankfully I have had some good luck with making him see the benefits of a few upgrades, the firewall was a great step forward, and now I have gotten him to allow me to move forward on a multi-megabit line!

We have picked up a 10Mbps/1.5Mbps - upstream isn’t what most would call “FAST” but since the bulk of our issue is mainly that of saturating a T1 connection (1.5/1.5) and having no where else to go but down, so with more room, we should handle the daily grind a bit better - or so I hope, if not, then there is a network device somewhere in the drop ceiling, and one weekend I am going to have a router/switch/hub hunt ;)

Things are getting slowly better, less ALWAYS ON STRESS - a odd night of sleep last night which was more or less classic me, sleep early, wake up early, hit that 6:30am hour and the pillow calls again - but I made it thru the day, no worse for wear - and I got my first power bill, pretty much my only other “living” expense attached to the apartment… it was a big $110 - not bad, I had budgeted everything high, it was set at $200, so not bad a $90 extra into the budget, and I have adjusted my fridge/freezer settings, as well as setup a program in my thermostat.

So its all getting there, tonight is a web coding night, taking some casual fixes/work I have been doing in development, and some I haven’t :) and moving them to production servers to try and mend a customer’s customers - quite a bit of work, so should be a nice addition to the budget long-term, but since it is such a large amount and the customer is without additional help and he has a few people he is comping time for this blip, I am breaking it up, and also cutting a few hours out, more or less combining them into one big set of coding time.

Anywhoo - thanks to folks who have been checking in on me as always, I have a lot more to do this month, and this month is nearly over - so I am going to get to it, right after a bite to eat for dinner! Night folks!

1 Day.

Hi, My name is Chuck, this is my site - I think, it’s been so long…. I need a nap, but for a little bit of an update, I am alive, I am busy busy busy, been working like crazy in my wonderful 8-to-5 world, with a mix of FH/TN in-between - so far so good.

Tomorrow, 1 day from now, is my birthday. 28. Yowza. I have NO idea what I am doing to celebrate, there was talk of RollerRama, there was talk of bowling, but I imagine after my day tomorrow, the only thing I am going to want to do, is sleep - lol. But I do want to get together with friends, have a meal, hang out, eat some cake, etc. or such is my thought/plan - but as usual, down to the wire with me, I have no idea, nor have I had the time to honestly even think about it - work, sleep, work, sleep, hang out away from the PC, work, sleep. etc. that seems to be the “standard” as of late.

So tomorrow we’ll see - heck I am going to try to come up with something tonight, but then again I am going to start coding at 7, and probably not stop till 11 - soooo we’ll see what happens. For now though, I’ll say “farewell!” and head off to find something to drink.

Wednesday Already?

An update on Grandma, she’s stable, they got in and did tests to find her heard has a 96% blockage, so they are going in Friday to effect repairs, so thanks for the prayers, just a little more please :) she’s doing well, there’s still a random chance I’ll go up with dad, but if I pick up this job, then it’ll probably mean no-go for a while.

Which leads to the job, gotten some details about it - shorts may be okay! But who knows, I may grow up sooner or later and just find a pair of pants that fit okay on my beefy legs, but from the sounds of it, as the IT guy it’s expected to get dirty and need to move around, thus shorts are currently “ok” - so far the job seems like a good thing, going to try and get in and see the operation, but could mean a decent wage thrown into the budget, which would be nice, and within 2 months if not shorter, I’d be able to snag an apartment, but weighing all that as well.

Code has slowed some project wise, with all the Grandma stuff I got majorly distracted so still some code to work out which is mainly the plan for today. Code, Code and Code some more to meet my deadline of “Wednesday”, but all in all its just a lot of routines I have to write that I know the basics of in my head, just a matter of making the final move from brain -> file.

Anywhoo - there’s the update, I am alive… mostly. I feel like taking a nap, still not 100% after the moves this past weekend, but I do need to send an email out today for sure on the moves this coming weekend. Busy busy, next week things should amp down some, but then I may also be starting on path to normal hours working a standard job…. time will tell. Happy Fake Friday!

Fridays off? Nevah.

So for a while I actually took Friday’s off, not anymore lol. So much to do as this year wraps up, and I want to make sure it goes smoothly, so Christmas day I don’t wake up to a pile of coal waiting in my email from customers - so today was some more dry runs of PHP5/APACHE2 configurations, also tested out the new feature for SPF/DomainKeys in the cPanel interface, the latest build offers the functionality, but it seems to have some glitches when it comes to domains with more than a single domain in the account (ie: accounts with Parked/Add-on Domains) - however it is workable.

Testing seemed fine on SPF/DomainKeys until the dreaded multi-domain account hit it, and the wrench was thrown into the gears, but another side effect is external DNS, there is no mechanism within cPanel to simply display the new DNS entires involved with SPF and DomainKeys, thus someone who is doing their own DNS, will have issues with true deployment, so a bug report was opened on cPanel’s bugzilla requesting the enhancement to display the records which need to be added.

All in all a semi-productive day, wish I had gotten some code time in, but the night is still young, though I may crash out soon and wake back up for the PHP5 run on Shepherd tonight, going to start it around 1am - but since I am going to archive the old build, that means while it builds that things like PHP and such will be broken for a bit, but never had a build take over 30m, and since mail, spam filtering, etc. on Shepherd will continue there is that chance, but I am hoping that with the early hour, (thus in most cases decreased load) I’ll see a quick build, some quick testing, then hit the sack.

Anywhoo - off to break and watch a flick, not sure what, saw Chuck & Larry last night, not horrible, tad too much swearing, but Ving Rhames - hilarious. Well played indeed. So enjoy your weekend, and if I don’t get a chance to post before Christmas, have a safe and happy Christmas folks!

– AT: New anti-fraud checks in WHMCS from MaxMind were officially tested with a new order this evening, did great! Very very happy, glad to see it work so smoothly. Okay going for real this time. ;)

220pm

Soooo… it’s 220pm on Thursday, and this so far has been a fairly unproductive day, mainly because I went to bed at 8/9am (not sure when, but somewhere in there) so really haven’t had much of a day, woke up at 1:45pm and realized “Well so much for Thursday” and started on emails waiting for me. A long night last night though, couldn’t sleep, and got tired of laying staring at the ceiling, so I played some Orange Box, looked at code briefly but I really didn’t want to focus on tiny mindless things, so I didn’t, but I have my plan down for the skeleton of the admin area I’ll work on tonight, I want to make it so the client can see some live editing from the admin standpoint, and from that editor I can bring around the submission and customer editing tool.

Some good news today though, I got my ear loops from Jabra, so now I once again have a headset! No longer taking my phone in my pocket, back to a thing attached to the side of my head to answer calls, which makes driving a LOT easier! They did indeed send 2 so I have one extra which will probably last till the headset explodes or falls off a cliff.

Christmas is this next week, and I don’t really feel it. I’ve gotten some Christmas cards, and I plan to go see some Christmas lights, though just can’t get into the mindset that it’s truly the end of the year already and were celebrating Christmas?! But I do need to pull out my keyboard, practice some Christmas tunes as Christmas day I am playing some piano at the old folks home my mom works at, so need to re-awaken the piano part of my brain, some songs I’ll get, probably google some chords, but shouldn’t be too bad.

Anywhoo - this has taken 8 minutes to write and I keep getting more distractions, so I am going to call it done, and go find something mellow to eat. :) Happy Thursday to ya all.
