Silence, too noisy for Me.

Last night as I worked on my taxes, things were too quiet, the classics of my long nights played out, un-needed worry, strange fears, etc. - I have switched so much to a “normal” schedule it is very hard to work late late, but none the less I got things done and I am mostly alive… granted another 2 hours of sleep would of been handy, but none the less I am awake, taking my bosses panic’d calls as he is in NY and it seems his cables, pointer, and clicker for his presentation were all missing from his bag, so it’s been a interesting morning, thankfully it’s slowly rolling into afternoon/evening in NY, so he’s slowed in his calling.

Things with Me as of late. Tired. I seem to be always on the move, Home -> Work -> Play -> Work -> Sleep (repeat) of course there is the occasional meeting directly after work, or the straight to coding bit as well, keeps me going going going, I miss being able to take a afternoon nap, a photo friday, or the 2 hour lunch hanging out with fellow small business owners, but the check comes in handy, most days I enjoy my time here, but as the big “sales” meeting looms, folks are just plain cranky, short fuses, not everyone, but it’s starting to get more and more noticeable, but a local IT firm has contact me with some good solutions, I meeting tomorrow @ 10am with them to discuss some options, hopefully we can come up with something good.

If I were less out of it, and not actively fighting to stay awake, I would write more, but for now I think I am going to go look at a email issue, then hit the printer issue after lunch… or something.

Before I lay me down to sleep…

Tonight was much needed. Nephews, Niece, Dan, Val, Solomon, etc. a nice end to my day, which ended previously after work by being ditched for a meeting setup Monday, and then having my friend insulted as well as myself, basically told that I was a complete idiot as well as Dan who had no skills what-so-ever - not a fun thing in the least, I brought it up to Dan before the night started because it really bothered me and I didn’t want to let my friend be bad mouthed by this kid who has had very little experience in the world of Web Dev. basically call myself and Dan noobs - kindly told him to shut it - got Dan a little riled up as well - and rightly so.

The part that sucks and has me torn of course is A) I do business with this company. B) The owner and I have know each other for years, and C) $500 a month is nice when I get it, before the following month - so a tad frustrated already with the entire thing, then throw this on the fire - kinda just leaves me wanting to just walk away. As much as $500 would be handy, and the occasional 3-500 more for side work is nice, it’s still not my standard rates, and it’s still not getting paid on time :( so needless to say I am seriously praying the idea of just cutting ties, one less thing to worry about, and focus strictly on other side projects and jobs which pay me up-front, on-time, and what was agreed upon, plus I don’t have to deal with the drama of it all.

So thankfully this is all going down of course during the week my boss is gone @ my day job, and gives me some time to toy with it some more, but I honestly don’t know what I want to do, possibility of $800 extra a month on average is nice, but like so many if I have to wait over a month for even the local guy to pay me, it’s not helpful, and I spend more time chasing after the local boy than I do chasing after the guy on the east coast who owes me $5 for a month, $5 is simple, $800 is a car, insurance, and credit card payment! So big difference.

Anywhoo - if your reading this sir, and you know who you are, shoot me an email when your around, we need to chat a bit, or setup a time to discuss what’s going on, and get some level of resolution - but to everyone reading this, keep me in your prayers - busy busy, lots going on, still no speeding ticket stuff, and still haven’t had a chance to push my 9-to-6 concept…. so prayers are appreciated, but for now I am going to go talk to my pillow. Night!

Possible New Home

Quite a weekend, working on the last bits now - fixing up the Foster’s computer - wish I had got it done sooner, but the job, projects, etc. all just been all over in my brain - quite a change to go from no sleep schedule -> 645am wake up! Oi!

Saturday I finally went off and checked out the apartment:

That’s the floorplan I am looking at, its pretty open, which is what I was hoping for, and the spare bedroom is just big enough to setup a small photography studio - along with all my iMac and Server, the media rig will probably get a new “Media Center” case, and be in the living room with the TV - but all in all I think I am going to move towards that setup, the price is $750 monthly - 2 bedroom 1 bath - I really like it, but the time table is what I am looking at, I don’t get paid till the first from the new job, then again on the 16th, but if I had a few more invoices in and paid I’d have the $400 deposit + first month, no where have they requested first and last, but that used to be the standard.

Anywhoo - I am pretty jazzed, I hope I can really get that rolling before the end of March no later, but if some magical way comes about, I’d just as soon do it before my b-day as planned, but sometimes the time tables we make aren’t the ones were going to end up following - but a new week is nearly upon me, Monday I have lunch with Matt, give him his box, enjoy a hoagie (mmmm pastrami) and tomorrow I may get news of a new member of the Poon family arriving! So an exciting week ahead, plus I get to make the migration to Google Apps at work, so busy busy, but fun fun! More to come this week, I’ll post more in the days to come with all that’s going on! Have a good night folks.

Wednesday Already?

An update on Grandma, she’s stable, they got in and did tests to find her heard has a 96% blockage, so they are going in Friday to effect repairs, so thanks for the prayers, just a little more please :) she’s doing well, there’s still a random chance I’ll go up with dad, but if I pick up this job, then it’ll probably mean no-go for a while.

Which leads to the job, gotten some details about it - shorts may be okay! But who knows, I may grow up sooner or later and just find a pair of pants that fit okay on my beefy legs, but from the sounds of it, as the IT guy it’s expected to get dirty and need to move around, thus shorts are currently “ok” - so far the job seems like a good thing, going to try and get in and see the operation, but could mean a decent wage thrown into the budget, which would be nice, and within 2 months if not shorter, I’d be able to snag an apartment, but weighing all that as well.

Code has slowed some project wise, with all the Grandma stuff I got majorly distracted so still some code to work out which is mainly the plan for today. Code, Code and Code some more to meet my deadline of “Wednesday”, but all in all its just a lot of routines I have to write that I know the basics of in my head, just a matter of making the final move from brain -> file.

Anywhoo - there’s the update, I am alive… mostly. I feel like taking a nap, still not 100% after the moves this past weekend, but I do need to send an email out today for sure on the moves this coming weekend. Busy busy, next week things should amp down some, but then I may also be starting on path to normal hours working a standard job…. time will tell. Happy Fake Friday!

It’s Morning?

So I am alive. Mostly, though I plan to be going to sleep again soon, all sites moved over, 1 glitch with Horde but was an easy fix as it apparently was a common cPanel upgrade issue, all in all, very happy to see Shepherd on new hardware, performing well, next is Faith tonight at 11, going to get the choice few off Business as well, then next weekend it’s homestar and bubs will probably go mid-week.

Have a good Saturday folks. Sleep beckons (or at the very least, zoned out on the couch) :)

So far so good….

Sooooo - seems things are moving along, not as fast as I’d like, the old systems have a lot going on, and the line is a little taxed at the moment with the moves, some big accounts over 1GB are going at the same time, so larger download times at the same time, eats up bandwidth quick. All in all though, it’s moving good good - a few hours to go till I can do my first DNS checks and go from there.

In other news, job. Possibly be picking up a IT admin position here in town - a classic 9-5, which would be nice to pick up, it’d actually almost get me right on the time-table I wanted to be at, having an Apartment by my birthday. Good stuff. So prayers appreciated there as well, I am trying to remain positive about it all - as it’s been a while since I’ve had a traditional 9-5 job, but even then it’d be 9-5, then work when I got home (I’d still work on FH/TN during the day as needed) so pretty happy about the possibility,

Anywhoo - more later I am sure, took a break as things were moving and went to Denny’s with Scott and Jake, I snagged a simple meal of a milkshake, and some extremely random chat - but I am hoping after this all calms down with the moves, jobs, etc. that if I do get an apartment I’ll have enough room to have everyone over for some freshly cooked grubbage. Happy Saturday folks, more later, probably an update here or twitter over the next few hours as things progress.

Moving Moving Moving

Well just needed a quick break from work, got some calls in, talked with various things on the Bank issues, getting ahead on that, also working on the migration plan, so far most servers will migrate over quick, painless - some will be a good chunk of the night for me I’d imagine as there are some big sites, and even compressed things like MP3 don’t compress (they are compressed) - so planning is going well, invoicing happened last night, so that was a nice thing, plus the final big check comes in today it seems, so hopefully I can get that in and have all accounts happy happy.

Now of course what day wouldn’t be complete with out news that tries to bring down all the good stuff happening, a long time customer is leaving FH, I always hate it when folks leave, but a local guy took over, and I got the nicest response to my email thanking her for service, and wishing her well:

You are a great person and do take care of your customers.

Wow - what started as a sad thing, turned into a happy thing, just such kind words which really did help soften the blow of loosing a customer to know that my job had been done well, and what I set out to do in taking care of a customer is exactly what was received.

So it’s 2pm, lots to do, later tonight I’ll post my Stevenote reactions, honestly just not that impressed by some things (MacBook Air) mainly because it’s not something I “need” to work, but more on that later! Have a Great Tuesday, and keep on keepin on! (One Last Thing: New Servers average a 29ms ping time from monitoring in the US! Woot!)
