Shorts Day!!!!

So ol Friday is nearly upon us, however to me, it’s “SHORTS DAY!!!” what is shorts day you ask? Well it’s the day my new shorts come in from Old Navy - the online shop was having a sale on my favorite ON cut of jeans that cover your knees (so many shorts are too short) so was very happy to pick up 2 pairs, $15/per - but a deal compared to the $25 usually paid for, so that + new shirts from Woot.com - very happy indeed.

Budget hit a strange note today, I had over $200 extra bucks in the budget, was hyped, got the first big billing last night with the new processor, some minor glitches I expected - but it went pretty smooth - so I got excited this morning as I did my morning bank check, and I find myself nearly $200 over (in pending transactions) so I reviewed what was going on and it seems some car stuff I ordered for my dad (got him some PayPal $$ as I can get it quicker than him transferring it…) however in the end it took too long, so I just paid for it on my debit card, well it seems they billed me twice - once for the amount @ checkout, then a second time for the adjusted amount as 2 items were out of stock… so as it stands I have 2 350+ transactions sitting in a pending mode. Fu-un!

Relocated the parents PC and got them a new wireless card for it, as the old USB dongle was given to help build a PC for a customer, but never got replaced - so I snagged one from Officemax Wednesday and today got it all setup in it’s new room all wirelessly, even gave them a ol Woot purchase my MX 5000 kit to replace the old gross keyboard and mouse, worked out really well - which got me looking again at buying a MacPro, and part of me is starting to get tired of Mac hardware, while the iMac is cheaper I dislike the lack of drive replacement ease/expandability, and its all in one. Ugh.

Anywhoo - not sure what I am working on this evening, I pretty much have the core of the conversion done for RM so if all goes well, I can wrap up that tomorrow with mainly some template tweaks, but the core of the paid job looks to be done, all meta data (picture / ratings) got migrated in so needless to say its looking good, just need to fine tune category templates to lend a hand, and then figure out some sort of voodoo for the main page…. hrmm. So have a good Friday folks, may the shorts be with you.

Mmm.. Tasty

Well it’s early AM still for most, and the day is already 3 hours old for me, so far so good, I made my way to Denny’s this morning for some grub (I seriously need to go grocery shopping) - as I munched I got some work done on a database map for a project - it’s going quite well, the layout going out is my only real big fear, if I do get Lunch with Dan today, I’m definitely going to chat it up about that for sure, though in the end, I think it’ll come down to the customer’s desire, but I just need Dan’s view for a rough as he’s done most of the design work on the HTML end.

While the project was done as an “affordable deal” I am not doing a TON of magic, however based upon the conversations we had, and the roadmap for potential growth over the long term I have put in some place-holders to the database to be sure that when the time comes, it’s really only some adjustments to templates and database calls, vs. re-writing databases, code structures, etc.

I am also trying to do this in a rapid dev format, not so much for the “buzz word” value of it, but for the structure overall, that is one of the main things I like about Cake, Codeignighter etc. - a very clean, organized - easy to manage structure, while I could do that with my own code, why re-create the wheel so to speak - but it does mean learning a few tricks, but if it starts to prove more time consuming to get my bearings (Me = Old Dog & RapidDEV = New Tricks) - but I have started to lay a few projects out in the system already, one of which is my upcoming app to allow clients to manage their spam filters - as I would REALLY like to move folks to this filter and more or less kill local server filtering. (Re: Load)

Lastly on my mind, Leopard. My plan is as such, Friday, go try to buy it from CompUSA ($30 rebate baby!) if that fails, then no rush, basically pick it up when it’s back in stock locally vs. buying from Apple, but I do need to buy the Apple Care for my MBP, as it was purchased last year in Nov. so the warranty is coming up, and as I know there is something probably wrong with the drive, or as usual, some recall will happen, I figure I’ll get it while the gettin’s good.

Anywhoo - off to code a bit, then off to import a bit, then to the bank a bit, and then… a bit. lol

Cheap Tacos @ Jack

Back in the day if I was hungry, I’d make a run to Taco Bell - mainly because it was one of the few places open 24/7 - but then Jack in the Box started 24/7 a while back, and then we got the Denny’s, and now a DelTaco on our side of town, and yet with all those choices, I really really am craving 2 tacos for 99c from Jack, they are cheap, they are simple, they are tasty. Sure sure it’s 4:30am, but for me this is the start of a normal day lol.

Not sure if I am going to go, but I’m craving it - and the kitchen is kind of lacking at the moment, so it’s that or run to the store for supplies, which doesn’t sound too fun lol - ah the joys of being awake when no one else is!

Morning!

Just waking up to this lovely Thursday (okay, so I have been awake for an hour) - I had a pretty productive evening, heck ran the iPod dead from a few days of use, it’s recharging now for a second wave of fun, but things have gone well - got a batch of about 30 clients sorted, now that’s not folks just migrated over, that’s dealing with standing invoices, I have gotten some emails back - which is nice, and things are getting squared away with most, but a few who are questioning every invoice they are late on - which is leading me to really push hard on the new policies once folks are migrated entirely.

But not going to let a few bad eggs ruin my day, or my joy in the things that are being accomplished, things that probably should of been done a year ago, but didn’t get finished - plus some functions I have now weren’t even possible a year ago, so that whole Romans 8:28 note really applies here - and while what I have imported thus far is not a massive amount of funds, considering there are nearly 300 more clients to go, and some who have a LOT of services, its all good.

Anywhoo - on-to the day, must get rolling on some more transfers, and get folks moved, tonight’s first cron job with active clients should be interested, it should generate some invoices which are due in 4 days, then the new credit card processor gets its first test drive - very excited indeed - once this is done, it’s onto TN for the same migration - should be fun :) - no really.
