I say more or less simply because how “good” can you be pain wise with 4 holes and a 2-3 inch incision in your shoulder! But as of last night he was still sleeping it all off, so it all seems to be leveling out - of course he will now have 6 months of re-coup/re-hab so a long road ahead, but hopefully less pain from his shoulder. Big thanks to all who kept him lifted up in prayer!
I finally got some sleep last night catching up after my whirlwind day - I got up for Dad’s surgery at 5:30am left the hospital with mom at around 8:15 or so and got to work, ended up leaving work at 11 - and stayed with them till about 3pm, at which point I was back at work for the remainder of the day (2 1/2 hours) so it was a busy busy day, one that ended fun getting to see my brother and his family, who I had not seen in months - which included my newphew! So pretty fun stuff!
Anywhoo - a busy day ahead, some work on FH, the apartment, bill paying, and I imagine a meal with family to see to Have a GREAT weekend folks!
ps. Just checked to see if my tracking for the G1 was active, looks like it’ll ship Monday, unless they have Saturday pickup! But maybe mid-week for the new phone! woot!
What a week this has been, hard to believe that it is already Thursday! Wow! A lot has gotten done, a lot of fires put out before they got bad, some strange things worked out for the best, and progress on a lot of fronts - not all the fronts that I had hoped - but progress is slow going, and change takes time.
A odd day at work, our new office bandwidth cut out at noon, and the COO was obviously a tad frustrated, this move was supposed to improve performance (READ: Speed) and give us more pipe (10Mbps) compared to our old connection (1.5Mbps) but for the last 2 days we have had issues, so for the remainder of the week I have 2 monitors, and a smokeping on the line, watching for outages, and I am going to try to push it at the lunch hour and see if maybe they just are oversold/overloaded.
On my own end, a productive morning - some DNS issues for the kMan, minor firewall Q&A, a DCMA violation on some software which was a error, that went too far lol, but it too was taken care of, and things are all rolling good, I have the HTML for the new FH being re-worked 100% I like the look of it, but I am also wanting 100% compliance if at all possible, I want it to be compliant with CSS/HTML standards and viewable nice and pretty - so I am doing my best - HTML is a tad rusty as of late, but I am making due.
The way home was interesting, at my exit I found a LONG line to get off our exit, which is not normal, myself and the car in front of me pulled over to help push a lady’s car off the freeway, her car died (hybrid) so she neutral’d it and me and the other driver pushed her off the on-ramp to the side of the road - she had a phone and was calling for help, thanked us, and off we went back to our journey home!
So a wild ending to my day - loafed a lot tonight, did some HTML for the kMan and MySelf to fill in some time, enjoyed the new Starz content on Netflix INSTANT view - about an hour left on Deja Vu (go Denzel!) so it was a fun evening, got to chat with 2 friends online and reviewed some Flickr stats on my account - all in all, fun stuff.
Anywhoo - it is time for bed, already shaved, brushed the teeth, and I feel ready for a nap, stomach ache is still hangin around, not sure if it’s this new sinus meds I picked up from Target “All Day Allergy” claims to be similar to Zyrtec, but it’s cleared up my allergies for sure, just not sure if it’s the source of my stomach ache, but I am going to lay off it tomorrow and see as the dosage lasts 24 hours - so that’s it for me, off to bed, have a good Thursday Folks!
So another week, another pile of things to do - and in 9 minutes I hope to be on my way to sleep - as it’s been a long day - a lot got done, some work on some sites that required some PHP tweaking, updating some scripts, and prepping for more to come, but also some nice downtime watching Heroes (lovely), and really unwinding before bed.
Tomorrow though brings the continued fun working to merge the old recovered Goldmine and the new changes folks have put in recently, ah the joys of work but work is getting smoother slowly but surely, hope to have more progress on the office, like many things they expect done “instantly” at work, this is one thing I did not want to rush, as there is a LOT of crap in there, some should of been thrown away in 1990, instead it was piled on bookshelves taking up space galore, but now I have a lot more open space, and more to come.
Anywhoo - that was more or less my quick update. Sleep becomes me in a few minutes and I still have a few more glasses of water to catch up on (long story) but needless to say, I am hoping for a good day tomorrow - I hope you all have a good one too!
Yowza. What a week. Tomorrow will mark 1 full week having my apartment. It has been an amazing journey to get to this place, and things are slowly leveling out - and I have to say, I have AMAZING friends and equally AMAZING family, I have been helped since day #1 get things moved over, various things donated to the “bach pad” etc. Simply Amazing.
One common thing folks keep asking is “What else do you need?” honestly? Food. LoL. Tomorrow is grocery day. My box of Honeynut Cherrios is nearly gone, so its time to get a wider variety of tasty bits - and I am really asking folks online who want to get me something, a Target gift card is simple - but even better, would be to give the bulk of the gift to the Hands and Feet Project (linkage) - the hurricane recently caused some damage (see the website) and they are looking to raise some emergency funds to help get things back to normal.
But the house warming is probably a week away, I think I have the Alarm system sorted, it’s not going to be cheap, but at least it’ll be easy to get setup and online it appears, and NOT get stuck into a 3 year commitment for an alarm in an apartment where I may not be in a year - time will tell.
Anywhoo - brain is half asleep, took a shower to wash off the day which has made me sleepy, so I am going to call it a night, and move forward tomorrow with more random apartment fun Goodnight all!
Well its a new day, freshly have internet at the apartment now, cable TV too - but its been quite a ride! Major thanks to my friends who have helped me thru this move and donated things to the house to get it rolling! But with the help and donations I have a good setup now, still not 100% where I’d like it, but well enough to let the budget relax a bit and catch up
But it is nice to have a more complete link to my servers, and 4 days off to work on things and organize a bit more - today I think is the food run here in a bit, I need to fill my fridge and pantry (aka the cabinets near the stove and I need to get a chair for the office as I am currently on a couch I pulled up to the desk it works, but not what I had planned at all.
Anywhoo - again thanks to all for their prayers and support, house warming coming soon - just busy busy - and too much on my brain, so off I go to hit the shower, then start working on my network to get it all how I’d like it. Have a WONDERFUL Friday, and a great long weekend.
Soooooo - I just got back from lunch, even did as Scott suggested, picked up food this time on the way in but I met with the retnal guy “Craig” nice chap, got him me checks, me app, me stubs, me drivers lic. and he is going to push things through for me, and if all goes as planned — a Saturday move in!
So lots to do once I get the “A-Ok” which includes calling cable company, alarm companies, phone company(Not sure) - but must get some things rolling, power, gas, water, etc. not entirely sure on some of them but I am sure between the apartment manager/friends/family - I’ll get it all sorted and be online & happy within a week or so, have a nice house warming with some friends!
Anywho - pretty excited, but probably more so once he calls and says “Your Good to Go!” and Saturday morning I’ll get me some keys! Woohoo! Still keeping it up in prayer, so anything is possible, but it’s looking like it’s a go! But really now, back to work, more later!
What a week, a slew of changes, ups, downs, backwards, forwards, friends gained, friends lost, toaster strudel (mmm love that icing) and ideas for projects, but thru it all, I have seen several adults this week act VERY childishly in regards to issues at hand - just sometimes wonder if it was the alignment of the planets.. maybe China has a “10 yr old” ray-gun that reverts folks to dealing with things by comments like “Turd Head” (oh yes, they went there) - but lots of things were resolved by people this week in that manner, leaving myself and a few others going “HUH?” - but maybe once the moon is full… lol who knows.
Tonight is a server migration! (YAY!) new servers came online for a customer earlier today, and it all is falling into place, which is super cool, even a new feature in cPanel which wasn’t there the last migration, which will switch the IP for me on the current DNS servers, with the size of this move, and all sites currently living on 1 server, that was gonna get messy doing updates thru the night, but this way - DONE! So very excited, I may, dare I say it, knock on wood, clap that you believe in fairies, and of cour say a prayer - this could go even smoother than I imagined!
But the only thing that is holding me up tonight, is a overdose of fun! As you can see from flickr -> my good buddy Scott said “PHOTO FRIDAY!” (okay so maybe not exactly that, but his offer translated to that in my head, I miss the photo days, and just getting out, we hit Lake Ming which is nearby and I gave him some tips on using his camera, and we had fun (or at least I did, but I hope he did too!) but some fun shots, he has some up too - so it was neat, had dinner (which I wasn’t too hungry - I think my lunch was icky) - but I arrived home to get the call about the aforementioned migration above
So it has been a whirlwind week, the weekend should be fun, I have a show I am going to with my Cousin, a friend’s husband is playing at a Borders so it should be a fun weekend with the Cuz, and there is a Atlantis episode somewhere, hope the DVR didn’t freak this week too - last week it missed it! Silly Brighthouse DVR!
Anywhoo - so much on my mind still some not quite ready for prime time in the public spotlight, but one thing really on my heart is a bit from earlier this week, the one I can’t chat about - you know the one (well God does) it still just seems odd, brash, sudden, but no one is talking to me about it - so I am leaving it as is, and let folks cool/calm/sort it out etc. and I’ll be here when folks want to talk - but my hope is something works out for everyone (vague I know). Have a WONDERFUL weekend! I am already shooting for NEXT weekend, as I am going to see my buddy turn 8 (go goofball!) and meet my Nephew and give him his first Photo Shoot Night!
