What a day what a day. You know I have truly been blessed with amazing customers on the FH/TN side, patience, understanding, the occasionally “WHAT IS GOING ON?!” but usually after a brief “Here’s the situation” they breathe, it’s all good - today coming into a freshly migrated office, I got a pretty mellow response, nothing crazy, nothing bad, just a few questions, so things were sorted, problems dealt with, some people wanted their hand held, not a major issue, if it gets it taken care of, then by all means, hold a hand some - but then there was the trouble one… there is always at least one.
Nothing I could do could make it fixed it seemed, and most of it was an issue created by the crazy configurations of Netscape 7.2, so trying to explain that didn’t help. So the battle of not even a little tech savvy + high stress + 4 smokes later, they were still frustrated, but I tried to keep my cool because it had been a crazy morning of questions, calls, etc. so I was trying to keep my head on straight, stay patient, and really work towards getting things fixed, and to put their mind at ease, I opened a ticket with Google, they of course saw nothing wrong, it was just a slow email day, but it’s change.
So the day wrapped up at work, I got about 5 minutes into the projects I had planned, but I think email will be good to go tomorrow, of course I think the boss man is going to try and get me to goto his house to work on his desktop - but none the less, day was done, time to move towards home, but we had plans for dinner @ Scott’ so I called, he’s on the way home asked I could just show up early, he said it was cool - so I hung out there till about 45 minutes ago, we had dinner on his patio, played some Xbox, talked some, ate some brownies, it was pretty fun - but all good things must come to an end, thus I am home, working once again.
I have an order to fill on FH, some emails to sort thru, I have been pushing some cPanel upgrades, but nothing too serious, tomorrow I hope to get some time in on 2 ecommerce projects to wrap them up, there is a pesky software upgrade that is bugging me, more code on EE to see if I can’t meet a deadline of this weekend for Mr. Sean, but busy busy busy it seems, going to only go till about 11:30 tops, then flip the TV on, and just fade away to sleep - quite a day indeed, PLUS I still need to figure out a final plan for my birthday, Rollerama is still seeming like the “plan” but my birthday has some interesting things to it, more on that tomorrow.
Anywhoo - back to it, lots to do, little time Night folks!
Well it seems that Amazon has the Complete Series Box Set for Stargate SG-1 on sale today, if only I had a spare $180 to spare, oh wait I did, till I got AppleCare lol - oh well, I am sure it’ll come down again eventually, oh how the day goes by…. I need a nap.
I just found this when looking over the new trailer for Semi-Pro staring Will Ferrell - the man is a word smith, take a listen:
Enjoy. More at the website - oh and call the # on the back of his shirt, funny stuff. Okay that’s my short mindless break for the morning, back to code.
Things seem to be on the upswing - and as I sat here at nearly 3am starting to wind down I noticed that 5 years ago I started this blog - 1,182 posts later, I am still alive, still posting, still trying to sort out life as I know it but like all things, it just takes time.
It was a interesting day, late morning (bed by 7am) and as much as it was to be work, a lot of it was just sorting things out in my head, but the day turned out pretty good, got some money in the bank, new billing system seems to be working good, got another project possibility, might have me a dinner to enjoy here this week, but the day went pretty good, a few things I’d of liked to happen, but in the end, I don’t think the day could of gone any other way.
So what’s for the next 5 years of my blog? Who knows - I do want to get some time in to re-work the theme a bit, now that I have a little stronger grasp on CSS, but for now, it’ll hafta make due, as I am going to go lay down, switch the iPod to some TV, and crash out. Night folks.
Waiting for some friends who are in town to give a ring, were going to go out for some desert here in a bit (or such was the plan) - so I browsed around ol YouTube, and this video illustrates the current eagerness of my business, if only it’d go into the corner:
Now that’s what I call 2 days. A lot has been going on with business stuff as of late, I recently finished up the basic ground work to a new Thrust Networks homepage - it’s been nearly 7 years since it’s original went online, and for 7 long years it stayed the same - so now it’s getting a new lease on life, and I am very excited - in part I was prodded to get it up to date by the application process to process credit cards, you have to submit your website for review and make sure things like “Return Policy” and such are all clearly listed, and having gone thru it once before with my now “old” provider who will be canceled within a month or so (phasing folks over) I knew the game - so things went very smoothly, and now I can officially process Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover! Definitely very stoked!
I had a good meeting with a client today, and got to talk with my good buddy Dan-o, was a nice day, I feel exhausted like I have run a marathon, maybe it’s some of this stress finally letting up, especially with this new card processor, it’s simply awesome, I bill a card thru it, instead of waiting 2 days, it’s in my account instantly, and I have a Debit card attached, so instant access to funds - very nice indeed, but also the finishing of the first leg of TN and now releasing the first of the FH Crazy October deals, very excited indeed, finishing up the game-plan for the remainder of the week as well as fine tuning some for next week - but I just feel like the tides are turning for the better.
Tonight I start test runs of Apache2 + PHP5 - my hope is to test several of the major apps out there in PHP, such as Wordpress, Gallery, 4Images, Etc. and ensure PHP5 compatibility, but I have a funny feeling for at least another 6 months, I’ll need to run both PHP4 & PHP5 to accommodate folks - but the big thing I am excited about is the migration of security to Apache2 and ModSecurity2.x - both which are wonderful tools, as-is for the current Apache 1.x/ModSecurity1.x branches - but 2 offers some more sexy with things like the ModSecurity Console - it’d be nice to have a more real-time over-view of security happenings across the servers, so I can make adjustments to the ModSecurity rules to better safeguard customers to the best of my ability.
So a fun evening ahead of me, which will probably just end with me passing out here in about 20 minutes, and having happy dreams - or I’ll get my second wind and start working on customer transfers from old billing -> new billing (yay!) already have a few in there, but more to come - ah fun fun fun - and PHP5 + Apache2 just finished compiling, dev copy of Wordpress on that box is working fine, more testing soon
Anywhoo - thanks for reading, more news on the way, lots coming up, lots going on, for now I’ll settle for a nap… or at least a “resting my eyes” session - night folks!
