I got an email today from a old old account, basically the email made it out to sound like I was being a jerk to this person, honest fact is I have had a lot going on business wise and personal wise to really deal with the situation, but this person has been just a little naggy, and all I asked was they keep up their site because time and time again they were getting hacked, putting entire servers at risk - sad really - but I suppose everyone see’s the server as “my problem” not theirs, but honestly, if he had just put even an hour a week in, he’d of been fine, or for that matter, switched software… but just odd.
The flip side of the coin this was a “friend” style account - I dunno, sometimes folks in emails come off as ungreatful, and I know what some of you may say “Chuck it’s email, you can’t define someone’s tone in a email” with over 10+ years on this crazy thing, I can usually do a fair job, but beyond that I have gotten very greatful emails before, this was just like “gosh chuck!” - sad sad.
But today was mildly rough, early AM wake up after a hard night to get some rest, thankfully after running down to the office to work on a server, I was able to come home, work a bit, eat, work some more, then crash. Much needed sleep, my meeting was re-scheduled so tomorrow I have that, and a service call downtown, so I should be getting to bed, just got back in from a quick visit to B&N to visit Rosie / Invite her to a snack after work, but she had other plans (things like oh I dunno, sleep)
so Jake and I hit Cindy’s and got some grub, chatted, and now its time for sleep.
So tomorrow, busy busy, keep praying for the deal, I think it’s gonna be good! Night folks!
Well I survived the weekend (I think) - started on Friday heading down to Grover Beach - my first real “long drive” / “road trip” style thing - Mom and Sister came along for the fun, and my driving made no one sick as we traveled down HWY 166.
We stayed at my brother’s place for Friday and half of Saturday, with Saturday meeting up with my cousin, aunt & uncle (aunt and uncle were visiting from Bakersfield too) - but it was a fun trip, we did loose power at around 12:30am or so Saturday Morning, but even un-plugged from the net, window open cold air flowin in - twas good stuff.
We got home around 4:30pm or so I think and I crashed out after a while, as Sunday my dad was preaching in Weldon,CA (about an hour or so up the canyon/hill/etc.) - waking up to a cell phone call Sunday morning was a blessing (was in a odd dream), twas my mom checking in that I saw the address of the church - and I showered and headed up the hill, my second big drive in 3 days - and windy, close to walls of rock, scary but fun.
Church was alright, dad kind of got shorted on time as they had a presentation - but he got in 30m of his message, and it all seemed pretty well recieved - and after it was all done, I primed the camera for some shots on the way home ( see flickr ) - I got some good shots, wish I would of turned off to Lake Isabela, lake was bluer than blue! But I missed the turn off since I was talking on my cell and not reading signs - but it was a semi-important phone call about a job.
But I made it home, loaded up my photos and took time to map some of my shots on Flickr ( my flickr map ) which was fun, then I zoned out and fell asleep again, but it was a good weekend, and here I am at 9am, trying to get all setup for the day, some work I truly want to work on today, and some I honestly don’t - but the week beckons. Have a Good Week Folks.
A loaded question. One I should probably be sleeping off, but I need to unwind a bit, so to the keyboard I stumbled.
Day started off good, a good night’s rest, and a nice email & call:
- I have a Wednesday appointment at the car dealership to check out my “Check Engine” light, lady said its a common goof, and usually nothing, but to stop driving the car if the light starts blinking (no blinks yet)
- Car insurance is in place, active, and paid for.
So with all that squared away, got my first REAL DAY of use out of the car, went to the gym, hung out, talked shop, looks like I have the job! 4 computers, one wimpy one for backups, and a service contract! Woohoo!
Next I went to the office, and got some pricing on the space next to my current office space, and maybe if things pan out with my brother we may have both spots! So very cool there.
Ran home to freshen up a bit, before the shoot - and then headed out to meet the couple - got there a little early, so I played at the gym for a bit on the front desk PC waiting for em, they showed up and we headed out to the lake - well actually above the lake to be exact, so we got some fun shots, get back to those later - but it left me a little late, but I drove like a mad-man to the next stop…
CompUSA to meet Rosie, we got her laptop with only mild irritation - long story, but in the end it all got taken care of, and is all good - she now has a fancy laptop, it’ll work great for school, and is affordable to boot ($599!) some rebates to do, but not too shabby either way - so we went to my office to do some software installs, but then I saw the clock and realized I needed to get my cuz and her friend for a movie, so Rosie came with for the ride, and we moved on to the next step..
Sarah and Ariel (wowza) lol - I say Wowza, as I think the girl may of been on speed.
LoL just a very loud personality, but she wasnt too bad, except when she assulted those police officers….. I kid I kid… anywhoo we went and dropped off Rosie at her car (which was at B&N across from the theatre) and went to see Click. Good flick, worth every cent Sarah paid (Thanks BTW!).
Lastly I needed my laptop, I wanted to work on the shoot photos some tonight (but I think I may just pass out… so tired.. but downtown was all blocked off by BPD, so we had to park a street over, go through parades of drunk folk, and make it to my office in the middle of the chaos, and trek upstairs, snag my camera/laptop, and then back down.
A complete night if I do say so, and some fun time today in my car, nice to be able to go out, and have AC and not be soaking wet between car rides…. but I do miss the heat after a minute or two of sitting in my office with the AC on.
Ariel, if Sarah is letting you read this, eat my turkey sandwich and goto sleep. Crazy baby coffins. (don’t ask folks) - A good week, a blessed week. God is definately good, and I can only wait to see what this next week brings. Night All.
Well been pricing everything out, making sure life is good, puppies are cute, and all that good stuff - so I called my current car insurance provider and gave em the specs on the car, told them the estimated milage and such, and total was $1,412 - about $1,000 a year more than I currently pay. Wowza.
So I hit the only rate quote places, and found Progressive offering me $822 a year, now that I can swallow, for coverage needed, its perfect - so since I missed the guy today, and I am going to probably pass out soon, tomorrow the sales guy is there from 3pm-9pm - perfect for me, so going to probably go tomorrow, and granting my credit doesn’t suck horribly (which I don’t think it does) I should be able to do it all, hand over a Neon (granting they give me a decent amount) and $4,000, and drive away in a new Chevy Colbalt 2007!
Anywhoo, brain is melty, so I am going to go check some email, then go lay down in the other room, what a day, offer is still open on both the xPad, and donations on the BCAC Foundation, so feel free to send in comments and or money
What a week. For the first time last night, I got sleep, twas odd, nice, and of course, now I want more.
Got a lot done this week, and taking off Wed. I have some to catch up on Saturday, but not a TON that can’t wait till Monday to work on again, but got a call this afternoon from the gym, apparently the folks who made their computers (not me) came in and well, for lack of a better word SCREWED everything up, they are trying to keep their foot hold in this town, and the gym has no plans to keep them, their hardware, etc. its just a bad situation.
So I got to go out and supervise a bit and find out what he was doing, guy was soooo know-it-all and kept trying to really put me in my place (as I am the guy replacing their company) - he kept explaining to me things like “WiFi Interferance” which we checked for when we setup wireless, and things like “Registry Editor” how its a very advanced tool, and I more or less then asked him why he removed all the hardware I had installed, that the gym had PAID me to do, and he said “Well it needed to be done” - it all still works, so it will be with the new workstations I am building, and on top of all that, I may get a service contract on the computers! So a monthly wage to keep things running smooth, and oh boy howdy, will I.
PLUS while there above and beyond getting that news of service contracts & PC building, I got a gig for starters doing some photography! (Woohoo!) and possibly a wedding as well! I really need to do some in-doors shooting practice between now and April if I do indeed get it - but it’s two kids I enjoy Joe and Jennesse - didn’t even know they had got engaged! But she showed me the ring, and we discussed Save-The-Date cards, invites, etc. So for now, we have a photo shoot set for Sept. 1, and it should be fun, going to look around for some good outdoor locations other than my favorites (Ming/Heart Park) and see what purdy things we can come up with.
Anywhoo - I am going to go now and do some PC pricing, and see what I can come up with, what a day, what a week, what a life. More Later.
Ah what a day, cleared my day to help Rosie move from her rent’s place to her friend’s house to the new room she’s renting, supposed to start at 9 but had some minor hangups, a final time was set: 12:30pm - so I headed over there, we got loaded up, I chased her down the freeways in my truck (as I had no idea where I was going) - and we made it there…. only to find that the road was being re-surfaced and for WHATEVER reason, it was against the rules to drive on it. Very odd/stupid/insert explicit lyric here.
So after a few carefully placed calls, I reached my sister who lives near by there now, and asked to use her garage to store the cars, well she was at work on the other side of town, Michael is back to school (teaching) and the only spare key was with Dad - sooo a call to dad and a deal was made, Route 44 Grape Slush from Sonic in exchange he’d drive the key over and meet us at Beth’s place. So we drove that way, and followed my dad there, parked the cars in and did the other things on the list for the day as the road wasn’t going to be “finished” till 6pm.
Needless to say, many details aside, we made it. Got her unpacked, a bed, met the boyfriend, met the roommate again (met her at B&N once before) and said my farewell, as it had been like 7-8 hours since we started, a fun day, but this boy was tired from the running around - but I then finished up the evening with the K-Man, enjoying a fine order of the Chili-Dog Diet - twas tasty, and helping him on some work stuff, then here I am now, fresh from the shower, and pondering sleep. Good day.
Needless to say, I hope the next move, if ever is me, lol. Possibly another post in a bit, just trying to decide if it’s a public thought, or a private thought… time shall tell. If not, then Night, if it is, see you soon
Another workout, 3 days in a row! Woah! I feel… well tired and smelly - about to hit the shower - but today I started off my workouts by helping Michael move some of their stuff from their apartment (their = Beth and Michael, aka Sister and Bro-in-law) - followed up with a call en-route to lunch with Michael to go riding tonight at 6:30ish at the lake (so #3 ride this week) it was good stuff, got server stuff taken care of it seems, after battling to squeeze in time between moving, and other commitments I already had this week, but in the end, its all working, even helped as a favor to a friend where the servers are being moved sinch up a problem, if anyone else had asked, I’d of slapped em silly, but guy has my full support
But tonight was cool, even if my valve-stem broke on my bike
I need a new tube, but even though its only a few month’s old I may take it into the local bike shop, have them tune it up, re-align the gears (as the chain keeps coming off) and get it back to working lovely - but Jake ventured back to make sure I was alive, then Rosie noticed we were no longer following and came back to make sure I was alive, but after trying to ride it I noticed it was flat, so we walked back the last leg of the ride - it was cool though, we followed up the ride with dropping off the bikes, grocery shopping, then nacho’s at Jakes with some good talkin, and ice cream, then after bidding Jake farewell (thanks for a fun evening mr. sherman) I got Rosie home safe and sound.
But this is my kinda day, good balance of family, friends, work. If only my entire life worked like that! All in good time I suppose… all in good time. Well shower beckons, good ride, a little pain in my knee, so maybe shower, then bath to relax the ol muscles. Okay - I am stopping for real this time, more updates tomorrow - lots of fun server stuff, new job developments, and possibly, a company I may be starting with Jake and Rosie
(serious Jake - we so need to do it) good times, God is Good, Life is Good, even with rough spots like crazy ex-bosses and meetings
Night Folks.
