Well I survived the turkey - not to mention I got a TON of sleep yesterday (Friday) - nice to have 2 days free for Turkey day, and more coming up for Christmas. Much needed sleep, but of course that fun had to come to an end, and I had to wake up and do something So I joined Scott for a late night milkshake @ Denny’s.
All in all though Thanksgiving was good - got to hang out with the Z Clan fun stuff - good eats for sure, even 1 arm’d after his surgery my dad still makes a mean turkey & gravy so stuffed myself good, glass of Nog, was ready for my nap.
But all in all this has been a very fun time, and even with tonight’s late night milkshake run turning south a little (Denny’s Lost Power) it has been a fun couple of days - even stopped by the rent’s place to check on their cats & the house in general - and braved the scale in the kitchen - I had been weighing in on the heavy side for a while, but tonight I weighed in at 70lbs or so down, possibly a little more as I was up there (320lbs) and now I am down quite a bit (250lbs) which is one of my old weight’s I stuck at for some time - I can contribute it to the job I suppose, high stress, more movement in a day, and lack of eating since I am not always home snacking anymore. So good in some areas bad in others, just need to lower that stress.
Anywhoo - later today (about 12 hours actually from now) hoping to see the new 007 movie with the guys, going to check in later this morning and see who is game, but I am hoping we’ll get to go see it this weekend and enjoy a flick, good company, and of course for me no movie is complete without nachos. Night folks! Hope you all had a good turkey day, and have a relaxing weekend!
A long night last night, that ended shortly after I got to sleep for about 30m or so, then off to work to a meeting - it went fair, a lot of things I already knew, a few things we worked out - who knows maybe one day they will listen to me - but as of 02/09 I will have been there 1 year… so we’ll see how that goes.
But thanks for the prayers - the meeting wasn’t horrible - granted part of me wanted to sleep like there was no tomorrow, but I got thru it with a to-do of things to do, but already crossed off about 3-4 of them already, not like many of them were hard - just a lot of “DO THIS NOW” items have come up over the weeks, plus personal life has had demands which I am more than happy to prioritze over work as my friends and family are far more important than a job that doesn’t respect me. lol.
Anywhoo - thanks for your continued prayers, hope this week will go smoothly, only 2 days left, and then it’s turkey day & day after turkey day Night folks.
So the week starts off with hopefully a “quick” meeting @ 9, and goes into the rest of the day getting many things I had hoped to finish nice and wrapped up - so hopefully, prayerfully - it will go quickly.
This week should be a quick and busy one (or so is my hope) - my hope is to work some on various personal projects aside from work, job, and company but time will tell how that plays out, but as always many things playing out in my head and a lot on my mind, but also my health still isn’t 100% even tonight feeling queezy still as well as even after many hours of rest this weekend, feeling exhausted - so hopefully some rest will come.
Anywhoo - just my quick note of an update / prayer request, while I am not a fan of my day-job lately, it is still a job, and one I plan to see thru, but if that is supposed to change, then so be it, but we’ll see how it goes - for now I am going to try to crash out here and get some rest, been relaxing most of the evening trying to get my mind thinking on other things - so far no luck … but I did watch some movies, try the new nachos at tacobell, and now it’s time for a nap I think. Night!
So I picked up a EeePC the 1000 to be exact - it has a 1.6ghz ATOM processor, 2gb of ram, 40GB of storage and is now running Ubuntu 8.10 (not the default Xandros) - all in all I enjoy it. It is a nice replacement from the MacBook Pro - granted some will say that’s more of a downgrade - but for me it works just dandy, as I was using the MBP more and more for work, thus using the software/hardware I paid for to make the company money, that really doesn’t respect my position in IT - so now I have a workstation that will let me function at work on things non-work related.
I had considered a iMac to replace my older iMac - but this worked for me better simply because it is very portable (10inch screen) and weighs in at only 2lbs - now thats easy to handle. I have a slew of photos, and I am working on getting things rolling on it to work with Flickr as it’ll work great to dump photo shoots on with 40GB of storage, then I can simply rsync things off to the nfs share @ home.
This week seemed to go smoother after Tuesday - stillĀ some oddities from the COO - he seems irk’d at me 1 minute, and then tries to be my bff the next… quite odd, but he has called a meeting between myself and the president of the company Monday @ 9am, so it should be an interesting call, I know what it is mainly about probably the fact that I have not installed the COO’s girlfriend’s workstation - it should actually be done copying now, but I really have no burning desire ATM to drive across town and setup a desktop lol - so I guess I am going to take some heat for that on Monday, not a huge deal.
But I do appreciate the prayers about the various options for the job, I am going to see things thru till the 1yr of my job in Feb. at that point I’ll consider other options and if the Church still has an opening, maybe sneak into it then, but for now, I need to be a man of my work and give this place 1 year, after that see where God leads.
Anywhoo - nearly 530pm nothing to do as it seems, I thought we were going to go see some Bond, but I am guessing that fell thru as I haven’t heard from anyone, and I think my next goal is to go snag some cash, some nachos, and some movies - and call it a night so have a lovely weekend folks, thanks again for all the prayers!
Sooo today was the day, the first offical BLU-RAY purchase, Wall-E was at Target @ Lunch, and I grabbed it! Going to watch it here in a bit, been un-winding from the day, but pretty jazzed, a cute movie, and very excited to add it as my first Blu-Ray purchase!
I think I have come up with the plan, I am still praying on it - but just updating all of you praying (I appreciate it!) The Plan is to continue to work at my current job as I had originally commited myself to stay 1 year, and I am going to abide by that original commitment, I know some of my frustrations are from a lack of sleep and health as of late - but a few crazy weeks will do that to anyone - BUT - I am also going to email the church about this job, and see what exactly they are hoping for, long-term/short-term - see if I can get a feel, if I am filling someones shoes, or working beside, just get the jist of it from the horse’s mouth so to speak - but then if that sounds do-able and I am not the 24th person in line, I am going to discuss the idea of working hourly @ my current job, maybe slightly reduced hours/pay, but enough to stay insured & do the youth ministry @ church - so going to put that into motion tomorrow.
Sick - as I mentioned my health being not so great, since last Friday just been achy, queasy, etc. I joked with one lady at work that I may be pregnant as she was reading off symptoms to her daughter on her cell about going into labor, I had a few of them! I may stay home tomorrow, not 100% sure, but we’ll see how tonight goes and play it by ear.
Anywhoo - that’s my update, I’ll have another one probably Thursday…. I solved a recent delima, and it should be all situated Thursday (I hope) so I’ll keep you posted, other than that, I am going to crack the BluRay disc open and drop it in the player and call it a evening. Have a Great Fake Friday Everyone!
So I think I am going to possibly be going for some change soon, or so is my Prayer Request tonight, if your a normal reader of the insanity that is my blog, you know that my job is stress, and as I was discussing with my Friend Jon tonight, it is also something that steals my joy - change is needed - in which my Church has an opening right now for 20h a week, which might be a good fit for me, and a place of more joy vs. stolen joy! So I’d ask any of you who are believers in prayer to lift me up over the next week or two as I too lift up this opportunity.
Projects, currently my plate is kind of clean of business projects, finished a website more or less, just was tired of waiting on content so I handed it off, and let them manage it thru a web based CMS, but I am looking at projects like HappyPalm and such as possiblities to bring back to highlight various mobile options - so probably more on that soon.
Netbook vs. iMac - I think I have settled on the Netbook, the ASUS Eee PC 1000 40G - going to sleep on it, really weigh the options, but things like 802.11n, Bluetooth, 1.3mp camera, etc. all pretty nice, granted the total 40GB is split between a SD Card and a SSD - still solid state media vs. moving parts HD - so all in all seems pretty swell - iMac or new Ubuntu rig probably first of the year - gotta have them expenses.
Anywhoo - that’s my quick wrap up, do keep me lifted up in your prayers, I’d greatly appreciate it - as for now things are working, but I don’t want this job to be the death of me, or cause me to become bitter towards people as there are some people there who need to let good things happen to them instead of sabotaging themselves at every turn. So good night, have a good Monday!
So tonight could of gone much much worse. The biggest gripe was the last dryer on the row doesn’t work in the laundry facility (calling the manager in the AM to let them know) - but it held me up a little for my evening with the boys, but in the end it’s currently drying the remainder of the way on the shower curtain rod
I made it to dinner @ 9:15ish to see a group of friends I have not seen in 1 place for quite some time - and it was good to see them all, and get to share a meal, good conversation etc. - there was a slight difference in opinion on Rocky Balboa - but no one died (yet - as I agree it was good) lol - but we laughed, had fun, had the Denny’s pretty much to ourselves as usual when we have a later evening group in the work week - but we chatted, Scott graciously picked up the tab, and we headed out our seperate ways, minus Me, Jake and Jeff - we chatted a bit longer, and I just barely pulled into the house now.
A much needed night, even got slipped a thank you card from Scott (thank you good sir, always glad to help!) for my help this week which was an honor to provide - and getting to see Dan, Jeff and Jake - a good evening of company which I think was needed.
This week has begun to slow down for me, a few days there I thought it was going to be Friday instantly and an entire weeks worth of work was going to be done, and I’d not gotten anything done - but it has begun to mellow, got a massive pile of things done at work that were waiting for me from Tuesday, and now tomorrow Cory should be here (call me for directions to my place! I’ll be settled @ work by 9AM(PST)) - but hoping this weekend should be mellow and get to spend some more time with Friends/Family.
Anywho…. time is up, off to put away laundry that did dry, clean up some as not sure what time Cory is gonna be in, and see if guys want to join up here and have pizza and hang with Cory - might need to stock up on beverages… but I think I can handle that. Have a Great Thursday folks, and thanks for your prayers!
