Well quite a week, can’t actually believe it is Friday already! Just seems like this week has flown by and yet it is still going strong - lot of things went down this week, haven’t had a chance to really blog all that much - but it has been yowza - quite a week, to re-cap some of this week’s happenings:

It was a fun week though, had some blips, some hiccups, but it worked, almost entirely into a “normal” sleep schedule, it’s odd going to sleep at a semi normal hour and waking up before 7am… not sure if it’ll stick - but I sort of hope it does!
I am sure there are other things I could go into detail on, the topic for one was something I had planned to talk about, but the short version is this week has been some good give and take, constantly I feel like all I do is give sometimes, but this week I got to give and take, it was nice, I have some awesome friends - now I just need to take a nap so I can hang out some more this evening, and this weekend! Well it’s life, budget has really bounced back some, granted wish it could be better, but it’s getting there - should level out over the next 2 months I’d imagine, and some more options coming up for money so pretty jazzed up, and I am going apartment hunting in the coming weeks as things really firm up and look at the option to get that rolling, while I have enjoyed the last few years here, rent free, really getting a chance to help my parents with their health issues, the last 2 years they have more or less gotten a lot better, and I am not as needed as I once was (or chose to make myself) - so back to a living on my own bit.
Which leads me to projects, projects galore, one I think is officially dead - took over 1 month for one of the folks involved to reply back on a staff board we had setup, I am not blaming anyone, if anyone is to blame I’d go for me as I am essentially the lead coder, designer, hosting guy - but at the same time each of these guys have other things going on as well (just like me) and thus I am not sure if it’ll happen - so I am going to take a lot of the code I have written and look at making a little tech blog sort of a Q&A bit for folks to ask me random questions on tech, and sort of do that, granted if the group gets together and says “Let’s go!” and we can make a REAL plan, I’ll definitely poke back at it for a while - just time lately I want to really hop into something fun, something that makes a little bit of revenue ($10 a month at least) and help others in the process.
Personal life - I dunno, I think I still have one sometimes lol - all the stuff lately with getting worked leveled out has taken a good chunk of my time up, which in itself isn’t a HUGE deal, but really it’s time consuming, nailing down a strong monthly budget with at least $150 above and beyond the set budget, which includes fun money already so $150 pad isn’t too shabby, but I am looking to do a REAL audit of all my hosting services, and I am feeling strongly about this new billing system, saves me some monthly money, as well as makes it easier to build an affiliate system - so going to peruse that for sure, but the apartment will help, having my own space, my own crazy habbits/hours/etc. and easier to have folks over to party like it’s 1999 so I am looking forward to that, and hoping that all the stuff that’s pending really pans out.
But there it is, things right now are mildly crazy, but I am enjoying some of the projects before me, some good fun, I am getting to really lay things out, learn new web functionality like AJAX and such at a more complete level vs. just recycling other scripts, which is making for more streamlined scripts, heck this last little bit deploying ajax and building a custom filter to scan the database for usernames already in-use, wonderful! So pretty excited, some fun things I can deploy using it, and really spice up some older apps I think, so we shall see.
Anywhoo - it’s 1am already, amazing how this evening has really gone by, only a few minutes it seems like it was 7pm - but such is my great grasp of time as of late but life goes forward, still looking to get an iPod, leaning towards the 80gb 6th gen, while the 160GB would be nice, all in all 80gb is MORE than I need, and I can use the difference to get the new iPod cable for the iPod to hook it up to my TV on occasion and watch flicks I have purchased on the TV - so we shall see what this week brings! Woke up to my head ringing, not sure why, but its painful - so much going on lately, finances are “eh”, the money thing with kMan, minor server issues (more patching to do), and did I mention I have a headache?
Just hoping over the next day or two things level out, I already wrote up a invoice for kMan, and going to make a rate-sheet too so he can see my pricing, granted its lower than my usual hourly wage, but he has promised me if it is a lower rate that he can essentially re-sell and make profit for my work, then he’s game - so its some buckage off, but in the end if it truly is a steady workflow, should be easy to get a decent wage in each month in side work - so time will tell, I am going to hopefully get a chance to meet with him tomorrow early if I can wing it, so I can get some cash in the bank ASAP at least the money for backups, which I’d hoped to have over a week ago.
I was rolling my change, got to the quarters, and found out I have no rolls for quarters, I had dimes and nickels, but no quarters - part of my plan tomorrow is to go and get change rolls so I can get my change ($50+) all rolled up and taken to the bank so I can fatten up the account a bit, and hopefully some checks will of come in from the paper billings locally as well, but such seems to be my budget lately, I need to get my payments from folks all leveled out, granted some new sign-ups, and some new money coming in monthly, but just need to get it all leveled out.
Well I am officially rambling (my blog lives up to it’s name) - I think I am going to go find something to eat, take some brain-pain meds, and relax on the couch a bit, hopefully the stabbing pain will level out some. Night folks.
Well the afternoon has continued on, and I am still mostly alive, got a few new job offers on the table, my brother called with a option which ‘might’ be open to being a “remote” job for internet marketing for the company he works for - pays like 50k a year, so could be very good.
In other job bits, got to talk to the kMan a bit about job stuff with him, not sure how that’s going to roll, granted I like the idea he purposed of being fair to me and breaking things down hourly + the core services I provide for his servers, but I dunno if it’s the price range he was hoping for - but none the less going to write it up and submit it, and see where it goes from there.
Just trying to really pray this up, about to step away from the puter for a bit and just really pray on this for a while, just feels like things are going two different ways, and the whole idea of a 9-5 job keeps looking better and better, I mean standard hours, a REAL job description, not just “Can you get XYZ done today?” - I don’t mind a free-form bit of work on occasion, but a steady bit, knowing what I am to do, that’s a better gig, I’d really appreciate the prayers though, I want to go for the right thing, but so many things poping up Which is first and foremost awesome, but then there’s just so many things to choose from So keep me in your prayers.

Granted this day started at 6:30am when for some odd reason my cell fell off my computer (earthquake 1-2.0) but this day is just seeming to drag on and on and on… got some things done, just took a break to hop on WOW and check my auctions. But now I lean into the last bit of the day, trying to track down some cash - just seems like the 3 big jobs I had pending all sort of went into slow-motion when it came to making a payment
Lunch was tasty, watched a little more of a movie I have been watching today during meals - the ATHF movie, its… odd. lol - but I just can’t seem to get going, part of me is considering a short cat nap, but I am also hoping I get a call that money is waiting for me (though for some reason I doubt it)!
The iPod is a pending thing, the 160GB is my current view, was looking to spend that much for an 80GB, so money was already sort of set in my head, but then again 80GB and $100 less, might be good too… but none the less, I am going to wait a while, maybe hope Target or CompUSA picks it up this week and I can get my hands on it first before leaping to Apple.com and buying it up without testing.
Anywhoo - hoping my energy comes back soon, if not a brief nap, then back to it. Another job option came up this morning for a 9-5 job… been pondering it.. a larger steady cash flow would indeed be nice…. ah life. Take care all.

Honestly, the biggest thing I was happy about is the “iPod Classic” refresh, 80GB for cheaper is nice, actually makes my budget happier, but the iPod Touch has a ways to go before it’s on my radar at all, as cool as it’s features are, just not up to par with the cost, and I don’t need widescreen video watching, iPod hooks up to the TV, got the cables, no worries.
So there it is, out of all the things they gave today, really only excited about the cheaper 80GB iPod and it’s enhancements to UI - so there ya have it… and for the record, I like posting blogs from Textmate - pretty simple
Well another day, another apple press conference - if there’s no iPod’s announced, then no big deal, I think I’ll still go snag a 80gb one - but then again, I may continue to wait a bit, not 100% sure, but such is my life as of late.
Had a nice chat on the phone yesterday about work, trying to nail down exactly what I am doing for the kMan, and make sure that I am not falling short of what he’s wanting but at the same time that I am not picking up more work than I should be, as there is a lot to do lately, and in the end my time as of late is very rare for free time it seems, but that in itself is a good thing.
New Billing system is going to be officially “purchased” this week, it’ll allow me to merge both billing and support into one package - I think though, I am going to keep myTT for doing 3rd party support long term, but if that isn’t really “jumping” then I am going to call that a wash and let the domain sit for a while as I think, all in all though the new billing system looks good, I want to do some more testing before I start importing folks, as well as make a universal simple theme for it aside from the built in one, something I never did with Modernbill, but the lucky billing system change is WHMCS - simple, clean, good customer access, and something I have been really wanting, customer affiliate system - I know there are add-on’s for ol MB but the move from 4.x->5.x looked to be a pain, and I just don’t want something TOO involved, while granted I am going to be doing a full audit and import folks one by one, it’s a needed thing that with any billing system I was going to need to do.
Anywhoo - writing this blog from Textmate, finally got around to playing with it’s blog feature (only owned it what 2 years now?) it’s pretty slick, granting when I hit post it posts I’ll probably post more once Apple’s press confrence is in motion or over, so we shall see what happens! Donations still welcomed!
