Childish Games, Server Migrations, Photo Fun!

What a week, a slew of changes, ups, downs, backwards, forwards, friends gained, friends lost, toaster strudel (mmm love that icing) and ideas for projects, but thru it all, I have seen several adults this week act VERY childishly in regards to issues at hand - just sometimes wonder if it was the alignment of the planets.. maybe China has a “10 yr old” ray-gun that reverts folks to dealing with things by comments like “Turd Head” (oh yes, they went there) - but lots of things were resolved by people this week in that manner, leaving myself and a few others going “HUH?” - but maybe once the moon is full… lol who knows.

Tonight is a server migration! (YAY!) new servers came online for a customer earlier today, and it all is falling into place, which is super cool, even a new feature in cPanel which wasn’t there the last migration, which will switch the IP for me on the current DNS servers, with the size of this move, and all sites currently living on 1 server, that was gonna get messy doing updates thru the night, but this way - DONE! So very excited, I may, dare I say it, knock on wood, clap that you believe in fairies, and of cour say a prayer - this could go even smoother than I imagined!

But the only thing that is holding me up tonight, is a overdose of fun! As you can see from flickr -> my good buddy Scott said “PHOTO FRIDAY!” (okay so maybe not exactly that, but his offer translated to that in my head, I miss the photo days, and just getting out, we hit Lake Ming which is nearby and I gave him some tips on using his camera, and we had fun (or at least I did, but I hope he did too!) but some fun shots, he has some up too - so it was neat, had dinner (which I wasn’t too hungry - I think my lunch was icky) - but I arrived home to get the call about the aforementioned migration above ;)

So it has been a whirlwind week, the weekend should be fun, I have a show I am going to with my Cousin, a friend’s husband is playing at a Borders so it should be a fun weekend with the Cuz, and there is a Atlantis episode somewhere, hope the DVR didn’t freak this week too - last week it missed it! Silly Brighthouse DVR!

Anywhoo - so much on my mind still some not quite ready for prime time in the public spotlight, but one thing really on my heart is a bit from earlier this week, the one I can’t chat about - you know the one (well God does) it still just seems odd, brash, sudden, but no one is talking to me about it - so I am leaving it as is, and let folks cool/calm/sort it out etc. and I’ll be here when folks want to talk - but my hope is something works out for everyone (vague I know). Have a WONDERFUL weekend! I am already shooting for NEXT weekend, as I am going to see my buddy turn 8 (go goofball!) and meet my Nephew and give him his first Photo Shoot :) Night!

There goes the moon.

Well I got the shot or two I had hoped for - you can see all of them here - it was a good night, got to get up the hill, nice breeze, amazing view of the sky, and got to spend a good bit of time chatting with the man upstairs, as I said in my last post, just a lot on the ol brain lately, change change change, but it was a wonderful morning going from 2->4AM.

Not a lot else to say at the moment, some things should be rolling out in the next few days, I need to get the money issues all sorted, and hopefully in the next 2 months it all balance out, between side work, new monthly revenue, and a few new clients - not to mention a few catching up over-due bills - so have a good week folks, I am going to finish off my day with some reading. Night.

Monday Monday…

Ah the joys of Monday, lots to do, and only 24 hours to do it in ;) I have already been up for 3 hours, played a little, read a little, little a littled - but some fun tasks today include:

  • Calling WAMU about 3 other accounts that never got merged. Yay.
  • Canceling ReplayTV for real.
  • Calling Brighthouse to ditch HDTV Package (cheesy 3 channels) and switch over to the Starz package for movies.
  • Follow up with 2 possible programming gigs.
  • Drink Water
  • Toy with billing systems (yay!)
  • Eat Cake
  • Dance…Dance… Dance..

So there it is, hopefully I can get the first 5 done for sure, the billing systems bit is on-going, and while I wish it was a easy conversion or upgrade, I have a few choices to look through, short of toying with the system again on my own, which at some level, may be my preferred choice, as the billing systems out there really have begun to irritate me in functionality, ease of order, ease of gateways, etc. and while Modernbill has been good to me, the upgrade path from 4.x -> 5.x looks annoying, not to mention 5.x really doesn’t “wow” me, it’s like Vista, lots of hype low on delivery ;)

So there ya have it, got a email half drafted in gmail going out to Friends later today I hope about a move this weekend - I tried to get some photo time in last night with the meteor shower, only to find out “noise = bad” the level of noise on my camera at high ISO is bad, but trying to take pictures of mainly “black” came up with just TONS of noise, need a bigger magnification and a tripod.

Anywhoo - have a good Monday folks, I’ll be on IM, cell etc. if anyone needs me, send money ;)

Mildly Edgy…

So woke up at around 5:30 or so, still feel a little bit edgy - but today short of some minor server work I have done already, to a service call this afternoon - the day should be pretty light, which is a nice change, I do have a possible server migration coming up next weekend, but it should be pretty laid back, just need to let the customer know we need to order his new server from his server company by Wednesday so its ready to go by Friday night.

I am hoping at some point to get some sort of photos, the 365 project has slowly become a lost cause, just been too many days were I was feeling sick and thus not at the computer to use the iSight, and on top of that, it would not be a pretty sight to be hold, but if I can get away for a bit, I think I am going to goto the lake, been a while since I’ve gone - just relax there for a while and snap a few shots.

CS3 should be here before 7pm, I know the UPS guy who runs our route, my dad fixed his classic Mustang - but he tends to get here around 4pm (on average) but usually later in the afternoon/evening, but it’ll be nice to get CS3 up and running, give Dreamweaver a look, and see what fancy things I can do with “Photoshop Extended” :) so should give me something to relax and do later tonight.

Anywhoo, prayers are appreciated - but to you out there after the iPhone, you really should see this video, it’ll explain how you will really use the iPhone :) take care folks! Have a Good Friday!

3 Shows, a “Link”, and a Toaster.

While the topic of this post leaves really only 1 easy to understand term “3 Shows” - all 3 things do have meaning (promise!) - but first off the three shows, tonight I wanted to catch all 3 shows hitting the air tonight:

  • The 4400
  • The Dead Zone
  • Robot Chicken: Star Wars

I enjoyed all three, the 4400 was nice to have back, and see things start to shape up, and more questions enter in, the dead zone was nice, but sad to see some cast members start the season off by leaving, not going to say much more than that as I know some folks were waiting for that, and for them to know Johnny dies… omw! I slipped up, next thing you know I’ll say the rev. is now seeing visi… okay.. I’ll stop - Robot Chicken was just priceless, if you didn’t catch it, try to, well worth the 30m.

The “Link” is looking good, in the morning my beta testers hit the code running, some known bugs - of which I’ll be ironing out is a login check, but really its not a bug as much as its not something I tasked for in the running of this code, but should be easy to fix up, like 3 lines of code - but it does its function very nicely, I am going to try some other tweaks and see if the link can be tuned up a bit more, but really, it works just peachy thus far - testers in the AM will shed light on more features/less features needed ;)

As for the Toaster, its a codename in the testing of Link to categorize things up, and it is just one of my random words I throw out like Toast, it works well.

This week should be mildly busy, got a call Sunday night that I missed from Dan about getting together to hang / chat business / eat cake (okay, I added that last one, but I like cake!) - but I also have a meeting to setup with a local Photographer about getting her website up and running, secured the domain for her at the wedding I went to, and so now its just a matter of getting things together, and making her a pretty site, which I may just hand off to Dan if he likes, and do the hosting for it, who knows!

Anywhoo - 3am, and I got a LOT done, some things I didn’t that I hoped I would, but hopefully over the next 2 weeks things line up, and I can get out and do a Summer Heat photo shoot :) nothing like taking photos in 105F weather ;) have a good week folks!

So fast…

This week has just flown by, seems like only yesterday it was Monday, but apparently that is not the case.

In 2 days I am going to join up with 19,610 people on Flickr and document my day, so I plan to have my A510 in my pocket with a 1GB card, my Dash with hopefully a 1GB MicroSD added, and for some parts of the day, my E500 in toe, but really have fun with this project that Flickr has put together called “24 hours of Flickr” - so should be a fun photo day, and I imagine a few folks I’m around who aren’t big fans of having their pictures taken will be mildly annoyed ;)

Have dinner tonight with the friends, apparently steak will  be had ;) then 2 seconds ago another friend who we’ll refer to as “Jacob” or “JS” for short (LOL) invited me to Spiderman 3 tonight at midnight, I seriously need to take a nap if I am planning to even try and make that, this morning I went to  bed at 5am, woken up at 10:30am by a nameless employee of a nameless company - called me with a support question, which by the time I got online - was already fixed lol.

Soooo yeah, a busy day it seems - and I’ve only scratched the service when it comes to work, but I really just want to go 2ft to the left, and take a nap…. who knows. Might just do it. More stuff later, other good things to discuss.

Now that was a Saturday.

A good time, got to see two friends tie the knot, beautiful ceremony, fun reception (a little loud, but my ears aren’t ringing anymore) got to meet a nice photographer and her daughter, talked cameras, talked a website, and ran into the groom’s family some, and some folks I knew from elsewhere who turned out to know Jannessie as well! So it was not too shabby!

And you know me, camera in toe, got to take some shots, some I want to clean up a bit, some I want to go black and white with, but all in all a fun time:

J&J The Wedding

J&J The Wedding

J&J The Wedding

But a good day, the reception had items on the order of events till 9:15pm, but with the first night of heat, and no cooler/ac’s ready to go, I got not so much in the sleep dept. so I hit the road around 6:30ish - but I had fun, tired, got a website gig, and saw some friends,  but tired none the less. So I say Good Night! Have a Good Sunday Folks!
