What’d you do today?

A loaded question. One I should probably be sleeping off, but I need to unwind a bit, so to the keyboard I stumbled.

Day started off good, a good night’s rest, and a nice email & call:

  1. I have a Wednesday appointment at the car dealership to check out my “Check Engine” light, lady said its a common goof, and usually nothing, but to stop driving the car if the light starts blinking (no blinks yet)
  2. Car insurance is in place, active, and paid for.

So with all that squared away, got my first REAL DAY of use out of the car, went to the gym, hung out, talked shop, looks like I have the job! 4 computers, one wimpy one for backups, and a service contract! Woohoo!

Next I went to the office, and got some pricing on the space next to my current office space, and maybe if things pan out with my brother we may have both spots! So very cool there.

Ran home to freshen up a bit, before the shoot - and then headed out to meet the couple - got there a little early, so I played at the gym for a bit on the front desk PC waiting for em, they showed up and we headed out to the lake - well actually above the lake to be exact, so we got some fun shots, get back to those later - but it left me a little late, but I drove like a mad-man to the next stop…

CompUSA to meet Rosie, we got her laptop with only mild irritation - long story, but in the end it all got taken care of, and is all good - she now has a fancy laptop, it’ll work great for school, and is affordable to boot ($599!) some rebates to do, but not too shabby either way - so we went to my office to do some software installs, but then I saw the clock and realized I needed to get my cuz and her friend for a movie, so Rosie came with for the ride, and we moved on to the next step..

Sarah and Ariel (wowza) lol - I say Wowza, as I think the girl may of been on speed. :) LoL just a very loud personality, but she wasnt too  bad, except when she assulted those police officers….. I kid I kid… anywhoo we went and dropped off Rosie at her car (which was at B&N across from the theatre) and went to see Click. Good flick, worth every cent Sarah paid (Thanks BTW!).

Lastly I needed my laptop, I wanted to work on the shoot photos some tonight (but I think I may just pass out… so tired.. but downtown was all blocked off by BPD, so we had to park a street over, go through parades of drunk folk, and make it to my office in the middle of the chaos, and trek upstairs, snag my camera/laptop, and then back down.

A complete night if I do say so, and some fun time today in my car, nice to be able to go out, and have AC and not be soaking wet between car rides…. but I do miss the heat after a minute or two of sitting in my office with the AC on.

Ariel, if Sarah is letting you read this, eat my turkey sandwich and goto sleep. Crazy baby coffins. (don’t ask folks) - A good week, a blessed week. God is definately good, and I can only wait to see what this next week brings. Night All.

TGIF… and then some.

What a week. For the first time last night, I got sleep, twas odd, nice, and of course, now I want more.

Got a lot done this week, and taking off Wed. I have some to catch up on Saturday, but not a TON that can’t wait till Monday to work on again, but got a call this afternoon from the gym, apparently the folks who made their computers (not me) came in and well, for lack of a better word SCREWED everything up, they are trying to keep their foot hold in this town, and the gym has no plans to keep them, their hardware, etc. its just a bad situation.

So I got to go out and supervise a bit and find out what he was doing, guy was soooo know-it-all and kept trying to really put me in my place (as I am the guy replacing their company) - he kept explaining to me things like “WiFi Interferance” which we checked for when we setup wireless, and things like “Registry Editor” how its a very advanced tool, and I more or less then asked him why he removed all the hardware I had installed, that the gym had PAID me to do, and he said “Well it needed to be done” - it all still works, so it will be with the new workstations I am building, and on top of all that, I may get a service contract on the computers! So a monthly wage to keep things running smooth, and oh boy howdy, will I.

PLUS while there above and beyond getting that news of service contracts & PC building, I got a gig for starters doing some  photography! (Woohoo!) and possibly a wedding as well! I really need to do some in-doors shooting practice between now and April if I do indeed get it - but it’s two kids I enjoy Joe and Jennesse - didn’t even know they had got engaged! But she showed me the ring, and we discussed Save-The-Date cards, invites, etc. So for now, we have a photo shoot set for Sept. 1, and it should be fun, going to look around for some good outdoor locations other than my favorites (Ming/Heart Park) and see what purdy things we can come up with.

Anywhoo - I am going to go now and do some PC pricing, and see what I can come up with, what a day, what a week, what a life. More Later.

Went to bed at 8:30pm!

Well twas a good day yesterday, busy like mad, but good - had my ride with Rosie in the morning, and thus saw my first example of someone sleep riding :) after that I headed home watching the kid for a bit, then getting the emergency all caps notice that the QB server was down at the office (gonna check that here in a bit) - which isn’t uncommon, server has issues, but it took longer than usual to deal with.

Called Italy trying to catch my brother, no such luck, and that leaves me with a few support issues I am not entirely sure how to deal with - so trying to wait things out, but I love how folks automatically assume since I am a tech guy, everything is within my power to fix, but when you don’t know how the infrastructure is setup, can’t just sense it - but some things I can do tomorrow, somethings I can as far as that’s concerned.

Took a short nap, got woke up by Jake’s call - talked for like a minute, then climbed back into bed and passed out for another 45m and then headed to the shoot. Which was fun:

Had fun, even had Mrs. Foster & Mrs. Poon there - which is leading to the BBQ on Saturday for further hanging out, and maybe a shot or two :) but a fun afternoon, following that a few calls, watched Eureka on the Replay, and said goodnight to folks and passed out.

But I think that’s it for me, have to respond to a few emails, but other than that, I think its back to bed. Night Folks.

Fun Day… Long Day.

Well yesterday started early, and ended late. A early morning ride, which was much needed with some recent server/client issues, a good escape/release - but then followed up with a semi-busy morning working on deployment of Ruby on Rails - fun stuff - even bought a book, which I have to find (I think it is in my trunk) but the day quickly seemed to move on and low and behold it was photo shoot time! (Yay!)

Awaken ShootAwaken Shoot

Must say some fun shots, we didn’t have the turn out that was expected, some mis-communications, and one guy was “napping” as I think his myspace comment noted ;) but none the less with the crew that came (Mary, Matt, Mike, Alan (I think that was his name) and Sara) it gave us some good shooting options, but I think I am going to scout out a few new places between now and next week, but I think I may also be getting a new car very soon - vs. much later - got my renewal for my tags on my Neon, and again I must smog my Neon, it’d probably pass, but I think it’s just time. Granted finances aren’t entirely ready, but I think it is something I really need as the Neon has seen better days, but is getting worse.

Anywhoo - day wrapped up good yesterday, and now it’s Thursday, which is crazy, but moving forward, working on issues, and getting work done after a good mornin ride with Ms. Rosie. So off to work, and maybe some evening fun with Ruby on Rails ;)

Fun Night

Well my legs still hurt a little more so my heels (shoes are getting bad, time for a new pair, only been 1 1/2 years with em) - but it was a fun night at the show, even got Courtney and Jake to show up for a bit and join in the fun at The Gate - They didn’t stay long enough for Lost Ocean, but twas nice to have em out if nothing else showing support for the Awaken Crew.

I personally was there from about 7pm till about 1:20am :) Helped Matt load out to his car, then helped re-setup The Gate for Sunday service (as it’s a Church by Day, and The Gate for shows) - so hung out after that with Matt catchin up, fellowship’n it was a good nice, and when I got home, I looked at my bed, and woke up a little bit ago ready for a shower to wash off the show a bit (a little warm in there at times).

I did get some fair photos, I really need to figure out low-light, fast action shots, I fiddled a lot with settings just trying a bit of everything, but it seemed like if I didn’t at least fire the flash, it was never right, but if I didn’t do the flash at full capacity (thus bleaching out the stage light’s colors) - my shot was faint stage light dots, nothing more :( but even with the flash-a-riffic photos, I think I got some decent stuff - took 120, uploaded 33 that looked presentable ;)

Well I have a order in my box, andn 2 servers to glance at then I must find some food, and write a few friendly emails to some gents about a night out to hang, fellowship, maybe even get really wild and throw in some Bible study! (I know oh-so-wild) - have a good Sunday Folks.

Got Print?

Well needless to say I am very pleased thus far with the print ability of the R340 from Epson, I had read a lot of mixed reviews, tried test prints at CompUSA, and was torn, but now I am printing out 4×6’s left and right ;) It will do full bleeds up to 8×10 - for larger stuff I can always outsource for 17×11 and such, but for most projects, client work, 4×6 or 5×7 will probably do, and for bands I can layout some 8×10 glossy’s as well, good stuff.

Anywhoo - lots of final prep on the room tonight, according to Officemax my table should be in tomorrow, if I can get it all re-arranged and cleaned the last bits tonight, I am good to go, because 2 monitors is just not possible with this printer on my desk, my Windows station is already pushed over to the site quite a bit :)

Picture of the Day (05-29-06)

Morning Ride

One of my fav’s from this morning, took the Canon A510 along as I was too scared to lug the E-500, but it works, all shots I did in Manual mode, so settings were all done by human hands not a magical “auto” feature ;)
