Work… ah goodtimes!

Now that’s what I call 2 days. A lot has been going on with business stuff as of late, I recently finished up the basic ground work to a new Thrust Networks homepage - it’s been nearly 7 years since it’s original went online, and for 7 long years it stayed the same - so now it’s getting a new lease on life, and I am very excited - in part I was prodded to get it up to date by the application process to process credit cards, you have to submit your website for review and make sure things like “Return Policy” and such are all clearly listed, and having gone thru it once before with my now “old” provider who will be canceled within a month or so (phasing folks over) I knew the game - so things went very smoothly, and now I can officially process Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover! Definitely very stoked!

I had a good meeting with a client today, and got to talk with my good buddy Dan-o, was a nice day, I feel exhausted like I have run a marathon, maybe it’s some of this stress finally letting up, especially with this new card processor, it’s simply awesome, I bill a card thru it, instead of waiting 2 days, it’s in my account instantly, and I have a Debit card attached, so instant access to funds - very nice indeed, but also the finishing of the first leg of TN and now releasing the first of the FH Crazy October deals, very excited indeed, finishing up the game-plan for the remainder of the week as well as fine tuning some for next week - but I just feel like the tides are turning for the better.

Tonight I start test runs of Apache2 + PHP5 - my hope is to test several of the major apps out there in PHP, such as Wordpress, Gallery, 4Images, Etc. and ensure PHP5 compatibility, but I have a funny feeling for at least another 6 months, I’ll need to run both PHP4 & PHP5 to accommodate folks - but the big thing I am excited about is the migration of security to Apache2 and ModSecurity2.x - both which are wonderful tools, as-is for the current Apache 1.x/ModSecurity1.x branches - but 2 offers some more sexy with things like the ModSecurity Console - it’d be nice to have a more real-time over-view of security happenings across the servers, so I can make adjustments to the ModSecurity rules to better safeguard customers to the best of my ability.

So a fun evening ahead of me, which will probably just end with me passing out here in about 20 minutes, and having happy dreams - or I’ll get my second wind and start working on customer transfers from old billing -> new billing (yay!) already have a few in there, but more to come - ah fun fun fun - and PHP5 + Apache2 just finished compiling, dev copy of Wordpress on that box is working fine, more testing soon :)
Anywhoo - thanks for reading, more news on the way, lots coming up, lots going on, for now I’ll settle for a nap… or at least a “resting my eyes” session - night folks!

Couldn’t take it anymore!

I couldn’t bear it anymore! I have snagged Swing Swang Swung from Amazon’s MP3 store… it’s already 1/2 downloaded, only a few tracks more to go - they are slowly being added to iTunes and the iPod is standing by to sync it up. I am weak… but happy ;) happy monday all!

PTL for Parents

So the day has sort of started to level out, my dad stepped in and helped out with some temporary cash as I wait for some folks to get caught up, not my favorite thing to do relying on my parents for funds, but lately it just seems folks are behind on payments, and I have on client/friend with nearly $800 outstanding, and it seems like even that is a ways off, so I am trying to keep in good spirits about it, money is a pain sometimes - but such is life.

I decided after my whirl-wind trip around town to make my way to the lake, just unwind a bit, really just unplug so to speak, and it helped, I dunno, just something about the sound of the water, the nice breeze, setting sun, etc. just peaceful, relaxing - outdoors is a nice change, really lets me stop, think, and breathe.

Sadly the short break ended, and here I am - I am going to find a bite to eat, then it’s back to work! Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Back Online!

Well internet is back online, and seems like they have done some upgrading on the backend, as things seem a tad more speedy:

Pretty slick, now I just need to get my IP updated across the servers, as my IP has changed (figured it would) - ah the joys of internet.

New Shows (Review)

The night started with “CHUCK” on NBC (the night was all NBC really) - but CHUCK was hilarious, all in all it had some fair computer humor, I did find it interesting when a computer fell over that the covers fell off the drives exposing the platters… but for most, I suppose that’d be a more understandable visual cue that “Drive Broken” - but the cast has one familiar face for me Adam Baldwin from Firefly, which for me added a nice bit of “Jayne Extreme” comedy. All in all, I’d say on a voting scale out of 5 stars, easily 4 1/2, just weary about the extent the plot can be re-played.

Heroes - the long awaited return of the series, a interesting start, some questions almost answered, and some new things rolling, like Virus Girl and Anti-Virus Boy? It was a good face paced episode, we find the fate of Peter, we see Nathan alive, but is what we see his true appearance or is he the man in the mirror? Is Sulu dead? very excited about a weekly return, granted this season looks thus far packed with shows I am going to watch, maybe it’s time to stop the BlockBuster online for a while?

Lastly tonight was Journeyman - not sure on this one either, it needed a little faster pace for me - the base story line has been built and some questions have been asked about his ability to move thru time and his purpose, but what is next? The show reminds me of a twist of Quantum Leap [link] and Early Edition [link] - and Apple/AT&T really got their foot in the door with the iPhone as it’s what the main character uses, granted I was a little sad to see them show it not allow any internet cached browsing (so I’m a nerd, little things irk me) - but the show has some promise, and at least a base to build from now - so time will tell.

More to come this week with shows, should give me a nice break in the evenings, but all in all today was nuts, just couldn’t get going, over-thinking again, not sure why - not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing - so two fold #1) Please keep me in your prayers, lots to do, feels like little time to do it, and with a tight budget, makes things even more crazy. #2) Post some comments in my last post, help me out a bit and give me some feedback as to what you’d like to see from a hosting company.

Anywhoo - midnight, part of me wants to sleep, part of me wants to clean, part of me wants to just sit and stare at the wall… ah life. Night all.

Taking matters into my own hands… er hand.

Well I have gone and done it, I snagged a 80gb iPod “Classic” - I weighed the pro’s and con’s in my head, and in the end it really just will be fine, no use in going back to the last get, going to use my change jar to get the TV cable when it comes out, but it is nice to be able to watch video and such now - plus the new UI bits are nice too, heck even came with 3 free games - so a full review of my takes on it in a few days.

All in all a good day today, got the ball rolling on a few things, some new job bits pop’d up over night, so work :) at least I’ll have tunes to enjoy while working and can leave my evil master “iTunes” and save 25% CPU & 25MB ram ;) - anywhoo back to watching House! Have a Good Night Folks!
