I guess there is a balance to things in the world - that whole “zen” bit, as today had been shaping up to be a good day, and it ended so poorly. Life is a funny thing - but as a whole the day went well, and I am going to focus mainly on that, and let the rest sort it self out when things come around.
Going to go loaf on the couch, flip on Eureka, then off to bed, as morning is going to yet again, come early, and present me with a full day of challenges. Keep me in your prayers, odd stuff went down tonight, not really something I want to air out here, but one way or another I imagine it’ll workout, usually does.
Anywhoo - as crazy as it sounds, have a good Fake Friday, its already mid-week! Only 2 more days left, then I am going to take a long long nap. Thanks in advance for the prayers. Night folks!
Well I got some mini-details on the meeting this morning, things went well, I got a budget, some things sorted, and apparently I am not fired - so positive, I will get a more complete run down tomorrow I guess, so I should know more then.
I got a call mid-day from a sales person @ NaviSite - which knew absolutely 0 about me, my company, etc. kid really didn’t do his homework and just kept ignoring what I was saying, funny really, not the best pitch I have heard, I’ll give cold calls a few minutes to grab me, and in the past I have gotten some good hookups with Ensim and such - so it can be a nice thing, but to come in and not even ask me needs till the 5th question, at which point I was already done, finally I had to just hang up, everything I said “No Thank You” to, it was just grinding it in - I am happy with my current solutions for customers, they work, they are affordable, and the companies I am working with a respectful, so not about to change anytime soon, but they really didn’t give me any reason to even want to at this point lol.
But things are going good today all things considered, hope to hear more on tomorrow to hear what the entire rundown is, and go from there.
Anywhoo - 10 minutes left, backup is almost complete, getting the last bits of projects around here done - so home soon, then possibly off to OfficeMax and snag a paper shredder, and possibly a color laser printer… maybe. Time will tell!
Well stayed home from work today, slept a lot - had a meeting in the afternoon, it was canceled for the second day in a row - which was probably for the best, but for now I am hoping that I stop feeling like crap before morning - the headache alone is horrible.
Things have been busy though, thats why my mom is now convinced that my sickness is from stress, heck she could be right - that and the heat are two things lately which have been in abudance, heck in most of btown it’s still +90F and slowly coming down - which means sleep will happen soon.
Anywhoo - just checking in, lots to do this week, meeting tomorrow at lunch possibly, but I may need to cancel and head downtown, not 100% sure yet, just need to turn in my Traffic School cert, but time will tell - in the mean time, I’ll say “Good Night!” to all, and more blog to come.
Ah Monday. It is rapidly approaching an end, but it was one heck of a day. Started with me getting to work, and getting things together to goto one of the admin’s house to work on a laptop/desktop/dock/etc. however once I got there I got calls galore. As I was getting ready to pack things up and check in, I see the admin person I was going to go see walk past my office, so she was here not there - so that didn’t happen today.
But I did get my “List” from the President of the company as to the tasks he wanted me to accomplish, most I already knew existed and plans were in place, but thankfully Grant was back today and had the phase 1 quote for me, we stayed and chatted till 5:30, which put me leaving around 6:00 - there is a lot of other “bleh” things from the day, but I am choosing not to dwell on those - but 6pm meant off to Dan’s house! It was game night!
By the time I got there it was about 6:30, traffic was odd, and there is no easy / clean way to 178 during that hour so I got there, and viola - I arrived, feeling a tad tired from the day, I chatted a bit, but sadly my time there was short, my mom had ordered groceries from Vons, thus as she was stuck @ the doctor’s office with Dad finishing up, she was afraid she’d miss them as the window for delivery was 7->9 so after a slice, some casual discussion on Diablo 3, GPU’s etc. I headed home for what I imagine a quick in and out.
Sadly that didn’t work out - I never made it back I instead waited, and then I think the long day of back and forth from hot->cold->hot->cold caught up with me and I passed out on the couch while waiting for the guy from Vons to come - finally I woke up to my mom letting the guy unload the order onto the kitchen table and when I looked at the clock, it was nearly 9 which meant game night was wrapping up - then Scott called and said hello.
But what a day, and I still feel tired, it’s still bloody hot in my room (83F outside) but since I have no screen I can’t open my window as I’ll get bugs, and if I put in the AC in the window, I have to wake up early to remove it as it’s not secured in the window yet. So I’ll probably be crashing on the couch I am guessing.
Anywhoo that’s my run down of the day, need to call tomorrow and see what’s up with my car insurance, never got the renewal sheet to pay this month, so need to find out whats going on, and I guess maybe run in a check to the office locally as this is just odd. Californianites remember tomorrow headsets are required for talking on your cell while driving, be careful! Night!
Well tonight I sat down and started my traffic school online, same thing I did previously, and this time instead of 2 days, it was 1 night, well for the quizes and such - now the fun part, the test - taking it to a notary and then faxing it in! Thankfully the receptionist at work is a notary, so hopefully she’ll hook me up with a deal
Today was alright, busy, got some headway on the upcoming end of fiscal year, still 1 thing to find, and a bug to work out (only prints 2 pages of what should be around 150 or so) but all in all it was good, even had good pastrami aside from the last bit that got cold due to someone coming and bugging me - but she’s a nice ol lady we’ll call “Pam” - but she put up some stuff on craig’s list with my magical help.
The bedroom is my pet project while I have the house to myself, mainly because I can flood the hall/living room with junk if needs be! and I am trying to sort out what to do with my couch, I like it, it’s comfy, spent many an afternoon at the old office downtown napping on it, as did some of my friends - memories (*tear*) but the time has come I suppose to maybe donate it to goodwill.
Still back and forth on the bigger project - aka the apartment, I have all the requirements now, 10 pay stubs, 1 which shows my raise, etc. etc. but I am trying to see what happens, as I “might” get this house, but at the same time I am kind of leaning towards the apartment simply because it’ll have things like AC, better cell coverage, a pool you know the little things, but I am going to run the numbers again on my budget, I want to be 100% sure, may need to wait 1 more month to build a bigger pad, but if things keep up as they are with folks giving me money and paying their bills, heck I may have me a steady line of cashflow and then some! God is Good!
Anywhoo - its nearly 12:30 - I am still awake after a LONG day, getting woke up when the squid and rents left, so I should be getting myself to bed, of course it’s covered with laundry, so I may hit the couch and double/triple remind myself to set an alarm out there! Have a Wonderful Fake Friday folks, the real one will be here before you know it!
The only downside to sleeping thru the heat of the day, is an upside, working thru the cool of the night - right now it’s finally cooling off, below 80F and humidity is lower now too, plus a mild breeze it’s down quite a bit from the 102F it was earlier.
I enjoy the summer time, heat doesn’t bother me so much - it’s the back and forth really, thus why I am happy with work that I have AC in the car finally, so that I can stay close to the same temp in and out, but now I just need to get a greater pull of AC to my office, or the OK on the upcoming quotes which will get me a quarter rack to mount the servers in, and vent the heat up thru the intake vs. into the room, at that point I imagine the AC would do fine.
Tonight I went over my accounts, then suddenly one account spiked with funds, literally between clicks - it’s the 15th (duh!) apparently it skipped my mind that it was billing day, and in a matter of minutes transactions galore from payments pouring in from the billing system, quite a big month, few yearly renewals etc. so got plenty of funds for the rise in the price of gas
Anywhoo - I am going to try to sleep thru the cool of the evening as well, though I lay down then I am wide awake again, so we’ll see what happens, maybe some brainless time with Hulu and Netflix to pass the evening in hopes the morning will come and I’ll be rested! A guy can hope! Happy Father’s day to all the dad’s out there! Night!
So here we are at the start of a new week - busy, lots of planning ahead, I have appointments tomorrow afternoon as well as Friday, so I imagine the rest of the week will fill in soon - or at least it usually tends to - but I have a meeting on Friday about basically virtualizing all of the desktops which has me torn really, as I love the concept, but the single point of failure could mean a LOT of downtime in “theory” but if the sever is built properly, there should be no issue at all…. but I’ll find out more solid details Friday what these guys have in mind.
The billing issue seems to be getting there, I had hoped it’d resolve today, and I got the apologetic call, some explanation, but I think the payment idea I suggested is going to work, half in the first of the month, other half in the middle - so more or less the same as my work pay system, so not too shabby in the least, going to swing by there after work and pick up a check, and discuss some other things quickly, but hopefully it’s all good - and we can get a game plan going.
Lastly, I feel drained today, just really really tired, which is making me wonder should I go and rest, or goto pancakes & games @ Scott’s here after the meeting, but I am down for bringing OJ, but at the same time I think they’d understand …. if not I know they’ll come for me in the night and I’ll never be seen again…. all due to OJ…. sweet, tasty Florida Orange Juice.
Anywhoo - I am off, getting backups packed up, VM is lagging a bit, not unusual, I think that copy of XP has a leak in it somewhere - but going to get it offsite, shutdown, and off to downtown - so take care all, more later I’m sure!
