A fond farewell!

My apartment was a big journey for Me. It was moving from the home I grew up in which I lived in as a child, grew into as an adult and lived in on my own, to gain back a room mate of a sister, then further still have my parents move back in, to transition to a place of my own with two bedrooms, a bath, and a mellow little patio area.

Mr. Chuck’s place, The Rootbeer Recovery Center, Cousin Hangout, Bible Study Group, and many other things has this place been called, but for me it’s been home for a little over 5 years, what a journey of annoying neighbors, fighting, police going door to door, fireworks setting off car alarms, but too friendships and good neighbors – and use of the apartment to have bible study’s, youth kids crash for a movie, and let’s not forget the latest addition, a ginger cat named Tim who made this place his home (more like his castle!)

I’ve been breaking down the living room, going to box up movies and games, I have a broken PS3 I plan to sell for parts on eBay, but the goal is to have the living room cleared out entirely by Saturday to allow me to stage other rooms to empty out and be done with, but making piles of keep which will move with me to the parents place (my place of residence until getting married – ah I miss my room mates there), piles for Yard Sale, and too a BIG bunch of clothes going for Goodwill.

So a lot going on! We are working on the details of the wedding, and doing our best to plan between things like work and school — oh responsibility! 😀 but we are doing good, getting things ready! Now we just have to find a date that works, and fits where God wants us to be! God is good though, this apartment has been home, but as I prepare to build a home with Daisy, a few months of saving and not having bill of two houses, I can save a bit towards our wedding and fixing up our home! Moving Forward with God! Good Stuff for sure!

Hang on tight, it’s going to be an AMAZING Journey!

So life is changing. Not just a job, not a change of location, but an addition to my family! The Brown’s will be welcoming a Hermosa to join our family, as my wife.

Yes you read that right, I’m getting married and have been Happily Engaged to Daisy Hermosa since July 29th in the early morning! Yes we had waited to post anything for a few reasons like telling family, and some key folks – but too a certain nephew was making his debut and as we love my sister and brother in law, we didn’t want anyone to miss out on this beautiful baby boy’s arrival!

I’m getting married!

I’m insanely excited as she is an amazing woman! She shares my love of the Lord, my sense of humor, my desire of light and easy, and we just click in about every way, even with our differences we still just work and God continues to bless us as we move forward! Even as we told family and worried about what people might say about our short time together, we were blessed with folks who were happy and not too surprised, as for nearly 5 months we have nearly been ever been apart (except for Work & Sleep!).

We are still working out all the details, but things are moving forward – I’ve put in my final notice for my apartment to save some extra money leading up to the wedding, still not official date set, but were going small, intimate and mainly family with some dear friends who will join us at our sides (or so is the plan!) – while the idea of a big wedding and big reception would be awesome we are currently leaning towards simple & easy – sticking to the similar desire of life to be light and easy, our wedding day will be blessed not stressed.

Most importantly I have one request of all readers of this blog:

Pray for Us.

We desire it! We could ask for Target Gift Cards, Toasters, and all those usual gifts we hear about out there, and don’t get me wrong we loved being blessed, but you could bless us even more with your prayers for our marriage as it grows and we build our family!

Things are in motion. Today even I’ve been going through clothes, cabinets, and more, The Rootbeer Recovery Center (the name my apartment gained a long time ago) will be retired within 2 weeks, lots to do! Wedding to plan, and an amazing life to get started on 🙂 Thanks for the prayers and thanks for reading!

We are excited! :-D
We are excited! 😀

Another Andrew!

As I figure most realize, but maybe not all do – this blog isn’t “Charles a Brown” – rather it is indeed my middle name of Andrew, most folks don’t even honestly even think “Charles” when they see me, most have known me as Chuck or the more common “CHUCK BROWN!” but this past weekend I was able to meet my new nephew Andrew Michael Zoeller, he’s a handsome little guy:

Love him! Daisy and I made our way down to the hospital to hang out and help, we got to talk with my family and even escape for some food and later take the niece and nephew to get Jamba Juice (A first for me!) but it was a blessed day overall! Little guy has had a few little issues trying to be like Me as my mom says, borderline Jaundice, but he’s going to be A-OK as he has a praying family!

But that increases our Andrew count to the family by 1, earlier this year my cousin Amanda married an Andrew adding another then, we Andrew’s are taking over the world 🙂 Now if only were all gingers, but so far 2/3 of us are piano players, maybe Andrew will make it 3 for 3 one day 🙂

Many congrats to my Sister and Brother-in-law! Love em much! Look forward to being around to warp shape this young little guy’s life, love my nieces and nephews! Plus need to get over there with the good camera and get some fun photos once he’s all settled in and his parents have a bit of rest 🙂

Normal Foot and Flat Foot

My journey in to jogging/running has been an interesting one till this past week some light has been shed on the likely problem… My feet.

It’s summer – let’s be honest in Bakersfield sometimes wearing shoes in the heat is like boiling your feet alive, so sandals even for this ginger man are the shoe of choice! So the other day while Daisy and I were talking I had my sandal on the ground and my leg crossed and she looked over at my foot and asked quite simply:

Do you have flat feet?

Which led to the investigation that changed my own knowledge of my feet that I’ve been attached to for years – I have 1 normal arch and 1 flat foot. Which does seem to make more sense on my pain that occurs when running as one foot likely over compensates for the other and just causes some pain in general after some running.

So picking up an insert (or a pair of inserts.. apparently it tends to go with both feet lol) sometime today (about to finally stop being super lazy!), but all in all I am hoping that it is something that makes my journey into jogging/running something a tad bit easier and maybe too relieve some various pains from jogging/running that I’ve had in the past! Would be nice to get going and not have pain in my foot, hip or knee!

Just stretching my legs!

Best Running Buddy Ever :-)
Best Running Buddy Ever 🙂

I have greatly enjoyed my journey to a more active lifestyle, having a lot more time outdoors, getting in exercise and continuing the journey of weight loss and in general a more healthy way of living my life – and from a few 5k’s now (Color Me Rad & Summer Series) I have officially had my first 10k this past weekend the Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Fun Run – It was a great start to what I hope to be many more 5/10k options but too just some good time outdoors  with the beautiful company show in this picture here – Daisy and I had a great time! She was staying in San Luis Obispo with her Mom and Sister and I further south in Grover Beach with my brother’s family & my parents – but I got to show her around and we had a blast!

The times were posted for the 10k and while I had hoped to have completed in an hour and a half, I missed the mark a little at 01:49:39 – still not horrible for me, but Daisy walked/ran with me as I am still getting there slowly but surely, but it was a fun weekend!

More events are coming up, more Summer Series (one today!) and another 10k in October, The Springville Apple Run – should be a lot of fun and is a trail run of which I’ve never done, but after running on the beach, should be a interesting experience:

The Course of the 10k!
The Course of the 10k!

The map looks pretty cool, part of me wants to go at least walk it before hand to have a better idea of the course, but may just keep training and be ready day of 😀

All in all I’m excited to continue runs like these, I still want to do more Color Me Rad, though less likely out of the area, will probably continue to just a once a year bit of fun with friends and family as it passes through Bakersfield, but really enjoying the exercise! Like in my last post, a journey for sure, but this past weekend was a blast, just hope to keep moving forward both in health and in life! God is Good and I praise him for the ability to move and be active!

Job 17:9 (NLT)
