PS:210 – So much for sleep.

I can’t catch a break. Sleep is just not my friend. I’ve not really caught up nor have I finished all the work in-front of me because I’m so tired. I tried switching over to writing as an option to not be stressed over work, and get some content queued up – that was a fail. Wrote a big thing on secure coffee shop internet browsing, like many articles on TFH, nothing much to see yet.

I’m trying warm ramen noodles now, oh yes it’s awesome. 4 minutes delicious ramen from the microwave. I’m on my 2nd serving now as its made me a little sleepy, but not sure if it’ll bring me down.

Part of it is I just have too much on my mind lately, too much to do, and options for more to do that I’m not sure I want to dive into. The computer working issue has been a problem too, but thankfully after some tweaking and adjustments the hackintosh I’ve aptly named “Hackie” has been running a lot smoother, sorted out the hang-up issue with power saving mode – and going to re-work USB access for a set of speakers, and my two drives for backup/storage.

I hope to accomplish a lot this week, I’m pondering making a schedule and locking down time for various projects, not sure if it’ll help – but I have to find some way to get things working smoother, including a block of time to just RELAX or GET OUT – at least once a week if I can wing it, been pondering a drone flight, time lapse, or simply iPhone shooting – weather looks solid:

Hopefully we dip down some, would be nice to not sweat as much as I don’t think any place in town can keep up with my drinking habits 🙂

Well microwave chimed, time to dig in to one last bowl then try to pull a Lilly as I’m heated up, goto sleep. (Works for her!) Night all.

PS:95 – 1 Comment!

Got a comment on one of my YouTube videos! A first for sure! If I can get my other video edited (need to move my footage to my laptop) and then I’ll post another flight, but need to charge the batteries and find a new location to film a good angle of Bakersfield’s sunrise (that’s my hope!) but maybe too a sunset again!

PS:43 – Latest Flight

So in an attempt to relax on my birthday went for a drone flight:

Took some photos too! Haven’t posted many of those, but I think I’m going to post some online soon! For now, since I’m exhausted after a rough weekend which included a sick Lilly 🙁 I’m going to get back to work and try to wrap up for the evening so I can sleep tonight.

PS:35 – New Video!

Got out there again and made some fresh footage! Love the controls! I do think I need a new set of propellers (little wobble), but too high mountains = good steady breeze!

Hope you guys like it! Want to head to some places I’ve not shot/recorded, but to I’ve got photos which I took, thinking it’s time to revive Flickr! For now, though, here’s one:

Oh okay! You’ve talked me into it, here’s another (from the iPhone):

PS:23 – Flying.

I’ve always enjoyed a good kite, and after playing with a Syma X11 drone, I even more so wanted to get a DJI Phantom 3 Professional.

Well after reading some reviews, and asking myself “What do I honestly need a 4k video for?” I decided on the standard. I needed some real relaxation as of late, and after some hellish weeks and a generous customer I grabbed one:

Still getting used to the controls, but super relaxing for me! Like the combo of Kite Flying and Photography! Loving it! One last clip, hope to get out and fly more this week/weekend.

I am licensed by the FAA, Have a number for the drone and a card for me, super cool for sure! More videos to come for sure, I want to make little edits with music if possible, but for now just wanted to share some footage!

I end this post though with one of the stills I took:

PS:14 – Quadcopter?

I’m an out-doorsey kind of guy. I enjoy fresh air because anywhere from 75-90% of my day tends to be at my desk. So any adventure out and about is great. Thus, this past summer I grabbed a simple quadcopter from Amazon. The Syma line was very cool, has some options for tricks and is honestly cheap. I got these after having lost to a tree/melted a motor of a Sky Viper, which is not the best drone in the world.

Why am I drone crazy? Well, I want a professional grade one but a $30 investment for learning seemed safer than crashing a $800 drone. The dream one thus far is a DJI Phantom 3 Professional because I love the range & video quality. I would love to fly out to the nearby areas as things are green, snow sprinkled/covered, not to mention if I get this gig on the coast; I likely will at least monthly go out and hit up a meeting or three. Ocean Video.

The thing I love is I’ve always posted photos. I’ve always posted things like panorama of the outdoors, 360 spheres on Google – just some photos even like this of the nearby Kern River:

I want to do more. I talked to my dad briefly about this the other day as the units are on sale on DJI’s website. I mentioned I thought it would be cool to do a flyby of beautiful Kern County areas like the above Kern River! Do some awesome music with it. Heck even maybe give a few images to my old friend Scott’s Instagram Channel.

It is a dream more than a “RUN GET IT!” I’m trying not to go nuts on spending in any fashion. I’ve thought about just getting a lower model, see if the YouTube channel alone would get some extra $$, throw in the tech site, a day job, and my business might be able to save up over the course of this year and buy it.

A Guy can dream can’t he? 🙂
